Empire
Is that the "aluminium colour"? I find with parts i sprayed in that colour that the metallic rubs off. So you just rolled this stuff on? Looks good.
PR280z
Yes,that`s the color. I`ll be adding a touch of fine glitter /flakes to the clear coat for that sparkle. I hope it turns out well? If not i`ll redo it in another color.
mario_82_ZXT
Did you spray or roll on? How's the orange peal? What ratios did you use?
PR280z
It`s the 1st coat using the roll-on method. I did`nt mix it because it was very thin from the beginning, just a good stir and apply. It did take much longer to dry,i guess that`s what the thinner(spirits)is for. I also did the insides of the fender and will be applying rubber undercoat. I will be hitting it with 600g after the 2nd coat. I`ve seen some good results with this method so i`m giving it a try.
Empire
even the engine bay and headlight scoops were done with a roller? I've never seen it lay out that smooth before. Looks great. what are you using for clear? what method to apply?
PR280z
I actually was surprise also on how it lay out smoothly. I do`nt know how thick other rustoleum paints are,but this color sure was very thin, like water. What you see was all done with the roller method.Yes, even the engine bay.I`ll be spraying a lacquer base clear coat.So far i like the results. GOTHALOSISM
I'm doing this exact same thing right now. I'm spraying mine on with a cheap Harbor Freight gun though.

GOTHALOSISM
I just got a pint of semi-gloss white and had them tint it with a green that I liked. The original green was much darker but of course it was not made to be added to rustoleum. I actually really like the way it came out. 19762802+2
Fixed I believe the reason he is painting it that shade of green is because he had a 280zx that was a rare stock green, and obviously liked the color. GOTHALOSISM
^^^ yup,(1979 citrus green) this is not the end result color. Sorry for the thread jack. Love the way yours is coming out. I am using a 1:1 ratio of paint and thinner. So far it seems to be drying with in 7-8 hours. Keep us updated on how yours is coming!
PR280z
Just testing the clearcoat on the booster lid. Still needs the 2000g wet sand and wax for a deep shine. Edited February 4, 2011 by PR280z

PR280z
What clear coat did you use? I used the rustoleum gloss on the booster lid. I`ll be testing a lacquer clearcoat on the other lid and compare the results.
