Josh280z
I can't seem to remove the original shock absorber from the strut housing. Anybody have any ideas on how to do this?? Maybe drill a hole in the bottom of the strut housing to get rid of the suction so I can pull out the strut no problem??

Maybe drill a hole in the bottom of the strut housing to get rid of the suction so I can pull out the strut no problem?? Use the HybridZ search function as this has been discussed many times. Also you can search at the ClassicZ website. Happened to me on two Z cars. Sometimes the shock will not come out of the strut tube no matter how much force you use and you will have to replace the whole strut. Before inserting the new shock put some ATF in the strut tube which will make it easier to remove the shock in the future. Be careful not to dent the strut tube or the threads for the gland nut in your efforts to remove the shock.
z2go
As Miles said, search this one out. Whatever you do, you don't need to drill out the bottom, it's not suction that is keeping it in there. It's rust and friction. Think slide hammer on the old strut tube...

Josh280z
At the top of the original shock absorber holding it in the shock tower. Edited March 11, 2011 by Josh280z
Josh280z
Obviously, it is below the gland nut...
