Z-carforlife
Hey guys i have a 1979 280zx with a shot rear Brake caliper. I also have an 83 parts car, can i swap the Rear Brake Rotor and caliper from the 83 onto the 79? They look to be vary different braking systems but they seem to have pretty much the same mounting points. Please let me know what you think. 1979 Turbo motor with T5 Custom Driveshaft to the Stock R180 rear end.
BluDestiny
You can't swap the rear rotor. They are different. As for the caliper I wouldn't know, but you will need to use it with the pads since they use different rear pads. They are not the same pads as the 79 Pads and rotors are different, I don't know if the calliper will swap. I'm betting it won't though. tec280zx
You need to swap over the control arms for it to work. The 79-81 calipers won't bolt up to the 82-83 control arms. Since you have a whole parts car this should be easy for you. Might as well swap over the axles from the parts car while you're at it. Also, not a bad time to change the rear bearings too. I did the same thing a few years back on my 81.
