  1. The whole family had dinner the other night and my bro in law took his skyline with him. BTW, its his 2nd skyline. It's an R33. His 1st one was an R32 with the A31 dash. This one has the stock dash, but was cut up into sections and put back together again. He sold his R22 because it only has an RB20E. This one has an RB25DET Notice the lever for accessing the gas cap? hehe
  2. Yah, banning RHD vehicles was kinda recent. It happened during the 90s when the bus and trucking industry boomed because of the sudden surge of JDM trucks and buses into the country and started crushing cars and people on the road. But I guess the main reason was to help give the local brand new car dealers here a leveled playing field. There was a time people would rather buy JDM SUVs from subic than a brand new one from the showrooms. They were so much cheaper and they're JDM hehe. Cavite is a very interesting place because metal fabrication is one of it's main industry. Pinoy jeeps started in cavite. Oh yah, if you're into toyota K-engines, this is K-engine heaven. It's a staple as rice hehe. Not the most powerful engine, but it's gearing and torque is good enough to haul anything if you put it in an owner type jeep. But nowadays, since RWD SR20DETs are cheaper than FWD SR20s, they start putting it also in their jeeps.
  3. I know it's an old thread, but for sure it's not a stock LHD. It's just that it's illegal to drive an RHD car here in the Philippines. It's mandatory to have it converted, and it has become a normal thing for us here, since we get a lot of 2nd hand cars from Japan... And there are a lot of shops that are already good at it (especially Cavite). From what I know they use a dashboard and rack from a local A31 (cefiro) for converting a skyline. Because my bro in law's 1st skyline had one. Most probably when that car came here it had an RB20E but did an RB20DET swap afterwards (or possibly an RB25DET). When I see my bro in law's skyline I'll take pics of the conversion. Cavite if not very far from where I live. I wouldn't be surprised if that's one of the skylines I've seen driving around here.
  4. Looks like a candidate for the new hybridz.org logo...
  5. Yup. Since they're not locally distributed (the offset), its considered as a custom order. I've heard guys pay more than that for a custom order... And also heard others weren't even given a chance hehe.
  6. Yes, that's the only place where you can buy them. It's kinda ironic, they're not locally distributed. Congratulations on your purchase.. Love the RB! Hmm, P25,000? I think it's about time I pay them a visit. hehe
  7. Did you buy it directly from rota? Their plant is about 15-30 mins away from my place. That's near considering how bad traffic is here. hehe
  8. @attworth: Ah yah, PM'd him a few weeks ago, but I think he sold it already. @Edz280zx: You're lucky bro! But I really dont mind the recirculating ball set up. Its just that I'm not planning on sticking w/ the L28. Parts for the L28 here is very rare, so I'm hoping to do an SR swap someday. From what I know, the box is going to be in its way if ever I go through w/ it.
  9. My S130 has a recirculating ball type steering and I've been planning for a long time now to swap over (or convert if necessary) to a rack system. I'm leaning towards to getting a manual rack system for its simplicity. But from what I've read so far, they're kinda rare. Either they're rare or nobody really wants them. Is it true they're that rare? On power racks, I also read that they tend to leak right away after a rebuild. I also want to know if that's true. I really love the fact that my daily driven nissan B12 has manual rack and I've never had any problems with it since the day I got it (20yrs ago). My 3rd option (worse case scenario) is to get a manual rack from a different car and adapt it onto my ZX. But I can't seem to find any info regarding the measurements of the stock ZX rack. Do s130s and s30s have the same measurements? If so, I guess I can use the info from this thread then? => http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=143445 Thanks in advance.
  10. im very interested in this setup. so a single side draught is enough to handle a turbo'd 2.8? any ideas on how the carb was setup? plus, is water injection still necessary if boost is only goin to be under 8psi? thanks
  11. has anyone tried rebuilding the steering box on a ZX? i know the practical way is just to replace it w/ a remanufactured unit, but im from the philippines & we dont have them here (except for the 350z, z cars werent introduced here). having one shipped from the US is just gonna be too expensive for me. japan & australia is relatively closer... but my car is left hand drive. im also wondering, does anyone know if a steering box from an old pathfinder (D21) or a 720 would bolt on to a ZX? thanks!
  12. the RB24s comes w/ a double barrel downdraught carb . plus, eventhough they can only be found here in the philippines (so it seems). numbers are now starting to dwindle. its cheaper to swap in an RB20DET (even heard a rumor that if you know where to look, you can even get an RB26DETT w/ complete drivetrain for P70,000 = $1,400) or an SR20DET than overhauling an RB24s... most of them now are just being sold for scrap.. btw, i read somewhere that there's a twin carb version of the RB24s that was released in saudi arabia.. dunno if thats true though...
  13. medyo lang... ahehehe! it was surreal reading the word "balikbayan" in this forum! hehe
  14. that'll be great!! i would really appreciate that! PM or email me if you find anything. maybe we can work something out. Z/ZX parts here are close to non-existent... there was this old 280ZX turbo at my friend's house. t'was for sale for around P120,000 (roughly round USD 2,400). too expensive for a donor car. all i wanted was the steering assy and the engine (most probably ECU's bad). it wasnt running, but the whole car was intact (alot of rust tho). the owner asked my friend to get it fixed. few weeks ago, passed by his place and it wasn't there anymore. the owner decided to have it scrapped for P12,000 (USD 240)!!! it broke my heart hehe!
