  1. Sweet, sounds like Ill be happy with the setup. I love telling people my hp numbers (I have only ### hp....but i have 100 more ftlbs of torque!!!) But anyways...... oopsy, my compressor wheel wouldnt come off the shaft. Long story short, trashed that chra. I was wondering if I can hog out the stock t3 turbine housing to fit the t4 turbine? At a machine shop of course, but I was wondering how they get the radius in there? Can I even bore out the t3 housing that much? The t4 turbine housing is 2.573 inches vs the stock 1.970.

  2. Cad drawings would be AWESOME! Btw, when I mentioned pinning the wheel, I meant that I would drill the holes so that half of it was through the wheel and the other half through the damper. I don't know if that makes sense to ya. I was then gonna thread it and put thread lock on them. Hope all goes well with the welding. You can have my modified damper too if you want it, but it's gonna cost around 30-40 dollars to get there. I just mailed two radioes to Australia and that cost damn near 50.

  3. I was going to drill out some holes to put roll pins to secure my trigger wheel to the damper as I was afraid to weld mine. You could think about that if you were worrid about welding. Also Lazeum, are you gonna make more than one of those vr mounts? I would definitely like one of those. Derek still isnt selling any!!!!!

  4. Two forty z strut tubes or two eighty z struts? I have some 240z strut caps that I don't need. Give me a price and they are yours.

And newzed, you are half right, there are different sizes for early and late strut types but if you section your casings and order shorter struts that are from different cars, the cap sizes will probably be too small. I had to use my old caps for the 280 tubes with my shorter struts.

  5. OK,

I am having such a hard time finding ANY info on these vintage authentic japanese twin turbo headers. Im looking for a pic of an HKS twin manifold for an L series as well as a greddy trust. Can anyone help me out? I have a link to a pic of what I believe is the HKS but want to make sure. I might have an opportunity to obtain one of these. Also I cant find any pics of them installed in a LHD ride.

  6. Did you ever choose what t4 you were going to use. Just curious what turbine size (a/r) you went with. I have a TO4E 50-trim .63 ar compressor side with a 77 trim .96 ar turbine side. Is this a good match for an L series turbo engine to you? Im thinking the turbine housing is a bit too big?

  7. Hello,

Im new to turbocharger identification and I recently bought an airesearch t04 turbo. I cant find any info on it but I have some numbers for you.

    Cold side inducer 49.5mm, exducer 69.5mm .60 a/r

    Hot side inducer 64.5mm, exducer 72.5mm .96 a/r

I was looking to see if this turbo would be any good for an L28 and for how much hp? Im thinking around 4-450? Im worried that the motor wont be able to spool this big thing so if not then I will probably make a hybrid t3-t4 out of it with the stock et turbo. Does this sound like a good idea? Any thoughts would be awesome!!

  8. The easiest way is to use the 82-83 distributor with the diyautotune cas. The car is much easier to start up the first time with it as the ignition timing can be pretty far off and still start. I had ALOT of first start problems with my locked out dizzy but it runs well with that also. As for the sensors use the stock coolant sensor, get the gm open element air sensor from diyautotune.com and get a new tps from autozone for 25 dollars. It would be from an automatic 240sx. MS2 would be good enough for you to learn on. What I would have you do is email matt from diy and ask him what he would recommend for your setup and then google the s-word out of all the items he lists. This is definitely a read and study and learn type of project.

  9. Try inspecting your clutch. When I fried mine on the turbo poopra it virbrated alot. It vibrated enough to loosen a few tranny bolts too but after I tightened them up it got significantly better. Its easy to check the bolts, not so much for the clutch though. good luck

P.S. the stock flywheel is a 220mm unit.

  10. I installed my obx the other day and it drives like I never did anything.... till I do a burn out!!!! It feels very stable but I havent done any serious cornering on it yet. Still shaking the car down. I plan on autocrossing it but it would be nice to have a 1.5 or 2 way if feasible. For me though , the obx was the cheapest.

  11. Depends, if you are using the stock rotors currently on your car you should be good. Im using the non vented rotors with the toyota calipers on my 14 inch aluminum rims just fine. I heard some people have trouble on the vented version and have to grind thier calipers to clear or they sometimes cant get the rims on. Also I would recommend something bigger than the maxima, 280zx, or 240sx rear calipers if you go with the vented setup on the front as you wont get good brake action on the rears with the combo. You are probably running rear drums so I would just get the non vented ones. Cheap at autozone, just throw your old calipers in as core, they wont know the difference.

  12. The other valve keeper is in the valve stem still so your motor is probably ok internally. I had a problem with a rocker that kept falling off. Incidentally it wiped the cam lobe later on a cwc cam from comp. I would inspect the top of the valve stem and if there is no visible damage or wear, throw some different keepers and a new rocker in there and call it a day. Unfortunately if the top of that stem is damaged or worn in any way its gonna have to come out. Just snag another valve, hand lapp it with some lapping compound and you should be good to go. they sell the compound at autozone.

  13. I can go to the junkyard and look for you. Heres the prices. I have a brand new 77 dizzy with an old coil i can sell too for 65 shipped. Let me know
