Dude, no one is going to come down and hold your hand through this stuff. You have to learn and understand how it works or else it will go boom when your showing off for your friends.
-
Not at all, the diff mount just slid right on and bolted up, no interference in the car either.
-
Not terribly difficult...took me about four to five hours of work. It definitely helps to have a friend there to get the diff out and in but everything else (driveshaft, halfshafts, subframe bolts) can be done before then.
-
For you pic whores out there ...got to do some proper drift and two stripe burnouts this afternoon, the new found grip is amazing!
-
Do what he said ^....make sure it turn over and through compression smoothly.
-
Haha yeah, I wanna see a rally action shot with it slinging mud and dirt around
-
If your starter is engaging but the engine won't turn over it could be a couple of things: Battery isn't charged enough to turn over the motor Battery is bad and isn't putting down enough amps to turn over the motor Bad relay Or something is binding up inside your motor not allowing it to turn freely, bad news but this is worst case.

Publicly, I hate it...however I secretly want to do this to my car...

Guess the 280ZX Turbo RWHP based only on Dyno video
stretchnuts replied to cgmeredithjr's topic in S130 Series - 280ZX
Hmmm...looks like the motor is still being "freshened". This thread is why I would never buy a motor someone else "built". http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/pts/2318895708.html Just do all of us real z-car fans a favor and part the thing out, dibs on everything besides the block and turbo. I can't stand it when people throw around dyno sheets trying to be tough guys, and the worse part is you really didn't do much wrench turning in the process, just wrote a lot of checks... Sorry to bring up an oldish thread but after reading seven pages of this guy ****fighting I had to vent. -
Anyone coming to the MegaSquirt Meet at the Mitty?
stretchnuts replied to Matt Cramer's topic in MegaSquirt
I am gonna try to make it up there too but thats a busy weekend for me, would like to meet some other z-modders close by. -
Another question I have stumbled on...are the hubs on my 82 na 4bolt?...and are the z31 cvs the same length as my halfshafts?
-
Just noticed you were located in Pheonix, I am actually TDY here for the week to Luke.
-
Ok cool, how easy is it to put the driveshaft flanges and and halfshafts flanges onto the z31 diff? Ive never worked on diffs before so this will be my first venture. And I am planning on using the finned cover as well.
-
Ok, I have search quite a bit for this and havent seemed to find a straight answer, most answers deal with the s130. For starters, my car is an 82 na 5 speed, so I have the r200 longnose. I am trying to find out how to make a z31 turbo clsd work in my car. I know it will bolt right in, however how do I get the driveshaft and halfshafts to work with it. Can I swap out the driveshaft and half shaft flanges from my current r200 into the the z31 r200 in order to use my current drivehsaft and half shafts?

Tuning is just that...tuning, and paitience, lots of it. These guys are giving you a great place to start from, but you need to make sure you arent just blindly loading someone elses tune, expecting it to work. When I get my car wired and ready, I will probably look up someone elses tune and then go from there, which is stupid easy. I learned from the school of hard knocks wiring and tuning a tech GT fuel/spark to a motorcycle engine completely from scratch...never quite idled well, but revved to 16k You have a lot of money in that motor and it would suck to blow it up cause you didnt take the time to understand how tuning works, and from the sounds of it you want someone to hold your hand/do it for you. You'll never learn it that way, and tuning is an ongoing thing, hence the "...ing". Give it some patience, read a lot, and you'll have a mean zcar. But in the mean time, check out those other guys tunes, load them, and start slowly changing numbers.

I have the zxt harness, AFM, and TPS. I need a couple parts to do the whole MS swap. Fule pump, rail, boost gauge, wideband. I was gonna throw the turbo on it and run it in a "stock" configuration and as I acquire parts(money lol) go over to MS, then swap the built motor in. Im not completely set in my ways, just tinkering with the idea. Plan is to first run only fuel, then eventually fuel and spark.

Ok, I finally have some time to work on my car again, and am getting ancy/bored waiting to save for parts to rebuild my l28et block (forged pistons, rings, bearings, etc.) and get my p90 worked on. I bought the motor as a complete running motor with the intentions of building it up and swapping it into my 82 na, so I have all the parts needed to complete a full swap. After searching and reading, including flatblak's build, my question is can I use the stock zxt ecu and injectors on my na? I read the zxt fuel pump and na fuel pump flow the same. If I got it running on this "stock" setting, my plan was to upgrade parts as I go to prep for the new motor going in when its done. That way I wouldnt even have to really do any wiring or other major installs, and just plug and play +- a couple sensors. And then retune. I have all the necessary components to MS fuel only, 440cc supras, etc. Would need to get a wideband. Should I just stop being lazy and start running/tuning the MS, or can I get away with the parts I have now?
-
PB blaster? I am also not entirely sure which sensor your talkiung about.

Nice looking Z!!! i love that thread "Q. Why are there are no "shift" keys on my keyboard, but there are two keys labeled "hif"? A. Again, you may want to consider cleaning your keyboard, and washing your hands more frequently for that matter." Is my favorite. And any girl that loves old zcars gets up in my book!

Modernizing engine bay and installing stronger engine

S130 motor and body with 16K on it?...thatd fetch a pretty penny...or two. -
OK Guys, this is really simple. (83 zx tach wiring)
stretchnuts replied to MJSchutt's topic in Ignition and Electrical
Hahahaha the first couple of sentences made me laugh, to save you a quick search use the FSM diagrams, or if you don't have one, you can download one for free here: www.xenons130.com -
Felpro makes some good stuff....not sure about timing chains though. Just google L28 or L28et gasket depending on what you got, there is a difference.
-
Ok, as of right now I have just the motor and the stock N/A tranny, which after some research is a more close ratio setup than the BW. Just received gasket kit, ARP rod, mains, and studs yesterday so I can finally pull the head and start putting things back together again. 280....are you running the motor stock as of right now? Plans the future? I am eventually going to run an EFI and T3/T4 and IC once I get the itch to push past 10 psi or so.

Like you said, check fuses, relays or any other fusable links. Get an Voltmeter and check to see if each is receiving power. Use the VM to check for continuity between everything in question. I would swear our cars have little electircal gremlins that try to make or lives miserable. Finally fixed my power windows last week, (circuit break stud had broken off....wtf???) and currently whenever I depress the brake both my brake lights come on, as well as the parking lights...
