  5. forgot to mention this is for a 78 280z..but any 70-78 z fender will work
  6. Need a driver side fender that is in good shape. Looking for something with no rust holes, surface rust is fine. Had some fiberglass fenders but decided not to go that way. Fiberglass ones are for sale if anyone is interested. Looking for something near ohio, or that will cost than 150 shipped to ohio. Thanks
  7. I agree with you, the cheaper route right now seems to me the best option. I wish i could spray it myself, but dont have the space to paint it, or the time to do it myself. Im hoping to find someone who can primer, paint, and install the body kit for 1500 or less. Hopefully it works out
  8. Thats what ive been thinking, not get something too expensive so i can drive the car and enjoy it and not be worrying about the paint at all times. And yes i am a 19 year old college student. Plenty to learn still. One thing was i shoulda waited on buying a z instead of buying one when i was 10 to restore. Going to be putting way too much money into it, but its the sentimental value that counts. The picture was taking a couple weeks ago. Have done quite a lot more sanding sense then. Still need to get the quarter panels patched up, and obviously get the front end back on before its ready. Been a lot of fun learning with this car though. Ha and love your last quote...think i found a new motto to live by
  9. Been working all summer on sanding down my 78 280z 2+2 and it is finally almost ready for some paint. It is all down to either original primer or bare metal in the rusted spots. I just covered the spots with some rust inhibitor today, and now my z looks like someone colored it with a purple crayon haha. Have to put the front fiberglass fenders on, and find a hood, and then it should be ready for some paint. Question is how much should i spend on the painting? I have a msa type 2 body kit that will be going on the car as well, which im pretty sure im going to have whoever paints it put on sense ive heard its a pain. I plan on keeping this car for the rest of my life sense it is my first car. I just dont know whether i should go all out and get a really good paint job, or just get an average one that will do for the next couple of years. Everyones opinion is greatly appreciated.
  10. Im actually looking for something a little cheaper than that. I am talking to someone about one now, but if that falls through maybe we can work something out. Thanks
  11. Stock size. how much you looking to get for one and can i get some pictures? Thanks

  16. Looking for a set of side skirts for a 280z 2+2. I have a msa type 2 body kit, but any side skirts that will fit a 2+2 will work. Thanks
  17. Hi, looking for a custom upper grill for my 280z. I want something thats different than the original. Something like a fairlady grill, or mesh diamond cut is what im looking for. Thanks
  18. Hi, need a hood for a 78 280z. Redoing the body on my z now, and need a hood that doesnt have holes are a bunch of bondo in it like mine. Anything near ohio would help greatly. Thanks.
  19. Looking for a set of front inner fenders for a 78 280z. I have a 75 280 parts car that had inner fenders, but it turns out there completly different from the ones that came off of my 78. The 78 ones are a lot wider. If anyone has some that are in good usable shape for sale please let me know. Thanks.
  20. Yeah, the 80 grit is actually working really well and stripping it down fast. I have the rest of summer to do this so time really isn't a problem. Also i have a backup car so the z can just sit and be worked on and not driven. I'll have to look around for some primers. I plan om leaving it in primer for a year so probably will look for the best. Thanks for all the help guys.
  21. I've started sanding a few of the smaller pieces(Cowl and fender doors) and decided to go with 80 grit. I have gone all the way down to the primer and bare metal where the rust was. This seems to be working out pretty well, and i'll probably end up doing the rest of the body the same way. Where and what kind of primer should i buy?
  22. I think its the paint that is super thick. Im not OCD at all about the body, im a 19 year old college kid who is just tired of getting made fun of for having a car thats green/black primer dots/rust colored. Just hoping to have it good enough for now. And for the rust spots i have been using this stuff my dad brought home from work on it, i cant remember what it is called, but its what his company uses for their semis before they repaint them that keeps rust from coming back.
  23. Need some suggestions on which route to go here. I am about to start the sanding process of my 78 z, and hopefully get it into flat black primer by the end of summer. It has a few spots of surface rust on various parts of the car, which i have already sanded to bare metal and sprayed primer over these spots earlier this year. The z also has a couple holes in the rear quarters that i am planning on taking to a friend to get fixed. I am debating whether to sand down to bare metal, or just sand the current paint on it till it is dull and flat then paint over it. The current paint that is on it is super thick, and i feel like it will take me forever to get it sanded to bare metal even using a sander ran off of an air compressor. A plus is that i have brand new fiberglass front fenders and a fiberglass hood that are already in primer. How should i tackle the rest of the body? What grit of sandpaper should i use, and what kind of primer do you guys suggest? Thanks for the help in advance.

    77/78 hood

Looking for something that doesnt have much dents, but surface rust would be fine. Also no rot is neccessary.
  25. I now need just the hood emblem. If you have that and it has both mounting pins id be interested in that. Thanks
