  1. Z240-thanks for that link, according to that they are the same. Very helpful link I will defintely be bookmarking that one. Dangerdan- if you wouldn't mind confirming when you get the chance I'd appreciate it
  2. I did some research but can't get a definite answer from what I found. I have a 75 280z 2+2 that needs a rear bumper (big dent on the corner of it). I have found one that is off of a late 260z (same bumper as the 75). My issue is I'm not sure if the 2+2 and the coupe had the same bumper or not. I know the rubber corners are different as mine have the 2+2 marked on them, but are the chrome bumpers different lengths? Would hate to buy this bumper and not be able to use it. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for the quick response, if I don't get anyone else with a confirmed working one ill pm you. Thanks again.
  4. While driving my 78 2+2 yesterday pretty sure my booster gave out as I lost my pedal and have no leaks that can be found. Also found that the rpms die anytime I hit the brake pedal. In search of a booster for a 2+2. Pretty sure the coupe booster is different so specifically looking for a 2+2 booster. Thanks
  5. I actually just set mine up the same way a few weeks ago and am curious to see what other say. My z is a 75 and I believe the bracket is a bit different as my pump sits up a bit higher.
  6. Alright awesome I for sure will use the front then, and will probably look into buying new stuff for the rear. Not sure it will sit right if it lowers it 1 1/2 in the rear and not the front .
  7. Will the front struts, springs, and control and tension rods fit, or are they different too?
  8. I've done quite a bit of research but have yet to come up with an answer. I recently purchased a 3/74 260z that had an almost brand new suspension under it. Brand new eibach springs, new struts, new bushings all the way around, and stripped and painted very nicely. This car was way too far rusted to be worth saving so I took out the entire suspension and kept it. My question is will it swap directly into my 78 280z 2+2, or am I better off selling off the suspension to purchase one for my 78? I have seen where some people said it is possible, but are there any modifications that will need to be made? Also does having a 2+2 make a difference? Not sure if the coupe and 2+2 had the same suspensions or not. While I am at it I am planning on swapping my tranny out for a 5 speed, and hoping to find a 3.90 rear end to throw in as well. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
  9. Sent him a pm. Thanks Jamal
  10. Markers are blowing out, so believe I could be the switch..looking for a cheap working one just basically to do troubleshooting. Thanks
  11. Looking for a headlight switch for a 78 280z. Having a problem with my markers blow
  12. Got tired of blowing fuses, so decided to try a tip I found searching online to hook up a 12v light in-between the contacts without the fuse in place. If there is a short the light will light up, which it did. Then you go around and remove bulbs and jiggle wires until there is a change in the 12v light to see where your issue is. I then went around removing all the markers the turn signal lights and ect. Jiggled wires everywhere but still can't find my issue. Thought for a bit that it was the dome light, so took it out to find it very hot to the touch, and the wire pretty burnt and chrispy. Fixed this issue but still wasn't my issue as the 12v light didn't change one bit. I tried other places like the glove box light the engine light, and just about everywhere I could think of that runs to that fuse to no success. Any one have any suggestions? I am totally stumped-Just wish I could find this issue soon so I can drive my car at night again.
  13. Thanks Miles, really appreciate the help! Such a tedious process. Have been burning fuses left and right, I believe we've burnt up around 30 now. Keep testing everything, and hopefully we will find the issue. Defiantly don't want to rip into the wiring harness thats for sure. Didn't know about the h4 harness, and I will look into getting one. Thanks again, and I will try to keep everyone updated.
  14. The painter also removed all of my markers when my z was painted. One of the tests I did just today was to take off every marker light and turn signal..I unplugged every socket. When I turned the lights on it would still pop it even with all the lights unhooked. Is there any possibility that my headlights would cause this problem? They still work, but we were thinking maybe then send a current back through the fusible link or something. The headlights are new aftermarket ones that I believe have h4 bulbs in them. Thanks for the help
  15. I took off every socket and cleaned each one very carefully. I thought this would have been the problem too but Unfortuantly not.
  16. I know this problem has been touched on a lot, but I still can't find my issue. I have a 78 280z 2+2 that just got painted last summer. I only drive my car in the summer so this problem has just come to light sense it got painted at the end of last summer and I've been gone all of this summer. I have no dash/park/tail lights when I turn the headlights on. It keeps blowing the 15a fuse every time you turn the lights on. I've searched on here and done the tests. I took out all the marker sockets and the turn signal sockets as well. Turn the lights on and it still pops the fuse. Ive taken off the headlight combo switch and taken it apart and cleaned off all the contacts, and it still blows the fuse. I've cleaned the back of the fuse box and there is no corrosion anywhere. Is the only thing left the wiring harness? I'd hate to start unwrapping the harness, but it seems like all signs are pointing to that. It seems like this problem started occurring after the car got painted. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am becoming very frustrated, and would love some guidance. Thanks in advance for the help!
  17. Awesome, thanks for the reply. That's helpful knowing that not much will change besides the fact of having that extra gears and keeping the rpms down compared to the 4speed
  18. Thanks for the response. Yeah I know a different rear end and engine mods will help, I just wasn't sure if the tranny would effect anything in that aspect. I read up somewhere that some 5speeds mixed with a certain rear end will take off like a slug. I guess it all comes down to which rear end comes standard in a 78 2+2. Any one have any insight to this? It would be great to have that extra gear for sure, and almost everywhere I read says to look for a five speed. I also read somewhere that the 80 5speed had different ratios compared to all the other 5speeds.
  19. I have a 78 280z 2+2 that has the original 4 speed tranny that works great. I have a chance to get a five speed tranny out of a 80 280zx that had 70k miles on it for a really good price. I've done some searching on here and haven't found a definitive answer to my questions. First off is it worth it to swap it out, or do I stay with my 4speed? I like the take off Speed i have with my z now, but some more power off the line would also be nice. Will this tranny add anything off the line, or will my car be a slug now with takeoff? I obviously know the 5 speed will get me more mpg. I plan to stick with my stock rear end (I believe r200,correct me if I'm wrong). Also would I have to change my flywheel or anything with switching to the five speed? Obviously I know there will be mixed responses to this, I just want to know what results I will get and different opinions. Thanks in advance for the help.
  20. Thanks for the feedback, I will look into both sources and see if we can put something together. Appreciate the help.
  21. We were also planning on making our own, what type of wire will I need? The MAXI fuse upgrade is something I plan to do somewhere down the road, but for now we plan on just keeping the original fusible links
  22. Looking for one, or multiple fusible link wires for my 78 280z. Recently burned up one of the wires and having trouble finding some for good prices. If anyone has some spares just sitting around please let me know. Thanks
