VG33TT

Thought i would update this. I got it running this week and tonight I will try to tune it a little. I still need to put in my 370cc injectors but I thought i would play around with the SAFC. I will try to get some video soon.

Thats a sweet 210 you have there. I've got a 79 hb that i've been driving while im working on the 280. Gona throw an l20b in there someday. Been thinking about throwing those 1G seats in the 280, love the way thay feel when sitting in them.

I did think about making new manifolds, but I didn't want to spend the extra time and money on it. I'm only looking to make 300-350 hp so I think the stock manifolds will do fine for my power goals. I got some time to work on the down pipe this week. Slowly getting there.

Now that the ice age is over I've started working on this again. Almost done with the manifold/relocation pipe. After this ill start working on the down pipe. Still need to buy an intercooler.

No particular reason to mount it up front, just wanted it to be different. I had planed to mount it on the side and run a v mount intercooler setup at one point. The engine mounts are the original l28 mounts. I just made some new mount brackets out of 1/4 steel.

Very slow progress. Cut all the pieces for the drivers side. Time to start welding.

I think its called the power transistor. Maximas had them mounted in that location.

little update here, finally got to work on turbocharging. Hacked off the exhaust. I am going to use 1.75 stainless pipe for the turbo manifold. I need to get some welding supplies Monday. This is where the turbo will be located. The radiator will be angled so that the intercooler pipes will go over the top of it.

I have been working on this project for 5 years now. The engine is a vg33 from a 2000 xterra and it has a 5 speed transmission from a 85 300zx The engine is controlled by the 93 maxima ecu and electronics, including the upper and lower intake. Runs really good right now but it really needs some boost. This is what the car looks like now.

I Have the vg33e in my 280zx. Now the front end is about 3" higher off the ground than the rear. I hope it will even out when I add the turbo and stuff.

So you put vg33 heads on a vg30. I though that was not posable.

Sounds like you need to re-circulate the BOV. Try removing the vacuum sorce from the BOV. If that solves the problem then you need to re-circulate.

You will want to have the manifold resurfaced also. Its probably warped.

Yes should work fine. I had to do the same to my vg33, cut out two inches and tig it back together. It was steel, not copper.

How long of stroke will you get with this crank?

Look at the gas I drained out of the tank, it is almost black. I think old gas is to blame for the valves sticking. I am going to have the tank cleaned and blow out the lines for the new motor.

There is plenty of oil in there. Its just hard to se in that pic. If the cylinder head was starved of oil I would of herd lots of clicking and chatering from the hydraulic lifters. What could caus the valve guids to not get oil? Do you think bad gas could of gummed them up causing them to stick open?

Motor was running great last night. I go to start it today and it suddnely looses compression. It sounded like the timming belt broke and I can here the pistons hiting the valves. I pulled the timming covers off and its still in perfict time, timming belt is new. This motor has only 30k on it. Then I pulled the valve covers off and all of the intake valves are stuck open. So what the heck happend to caus this? I am going to get another moter this weekend but I just dont understand what happend to this one. I never even got to drive it, I just got it running last night.

Boosted ka24e works great.

I have the vg30et manifolds, thay do bolt to the vg33. The problem is the turbo interfers with the steering shaft. I plan on making custom a manifold Its the only way to get around this problem.I have a large intercooler with 3in inlet and out let and some 3in piping. 79 280zx with vg33 resting in engine bay.

I just happin to have two turbos. Maby I should sell them and buy one large turbo.

Has anyone ever turbocharged A ka24e? I just did my nissan pickup and I cant get it to run right.It seems to run god in first and second in 3rd it starts to loose power and in 4th and 5th it has olmost no power at all at full boost. It seems like the longer I run it at full boost, the less power it has.What could be the problem?

I turbocharged my 87 nissan maxima. It was super fast but the clutch sliped all the time and it was really hard to keep it stright when excelarating.
