  1. bump, i would like to know also...
  2. i found it impossible from under the car...the turbo bolts to the manifold are impossible to get to without taking out the turbo cartridge. The steering rack is in the way as well... im thinking im better off hauling the motor out just enough to get to the manifold/turbo...
  3. at my local junks...i have found an 85 300zx turbo and i was wondering if there was an easier way to removing the turbo. Ive thought of different ways in trying to remove it but they are all block by impossible angles for my tools to work in. I was thinking of just taking out the whole engine and removing it like that, but i dont know if its worth it for that turbo...
  4. wow that is awesome...could you post how you got the external wastegate on there? looks like you had some kind of adapter...
  5. im looking to get a T3 60 trim / .63 A/R turbine
  6. sorry for bringing this back from the dead but im getting similar problems... i just recently changed my oil from regular to synthetic (rebuilt motor) and i noticed minor oil leaking down the block. Also, i have white smoke blowing out from the exhaust during a cold start... once the car is warmed up it stops... i also did the dollar trick to see if i had a bent exhaust valve. - place dollar near muffler and if it sucks it in, you have a bent valve im a bit worried on what it could be... the car still runs but i want to get this figured out.
  7. I dont know if this has been covered already, but has anyone had any problems ordering a turbo from these guys? I want to get a vouche from them before i decide to order a turbo from them. Any help is grateful. Thanks -jon
  8. sup guys, im in the verge of swapping my stock rebuilt l28et into my 240z and i was wondering what kind of gas milage you guys are getting. (daily driving - includes having fun with the throttle:)). Thanks for your time. -jon
  9. i believe its to eliminate any kind of boost lag...since there is no throttle body after the turbo....there is no need for a BOV and no chance of compressor surge. Im just thinking this logically... i honestly dont know whats up with that.
  10. hey guys,.. anyway... ive been working my 72' 240z that i bought 2 weeks ago. About 3 days ago i bought an 83' 280zx turbo motor (l28et) for 300 dollars. For the past 2 days ive been rebuilding the motor. I thought you guys would like to see pics of my progress.
  11. okay thats what i needed to know thanks... but yeah im swapping the whole motor in. Im looking into megasquirt for my FMU.
  12. would i be able to use my distributor from my NA l28 on my 82' l28et? i spoke with sr240z and only the 81' z had the CAS distributor. Could i use mine or would i have to find a turbo one from a junkyard or such.
  13. hey guys, im kinda new here...ive been searching around and such but not really posting. I just bought an 82' L28et from a junkyard here in socal for 350 bucks... it seems to be in prestine condition and the oil in it is pretty fresh. Well anyway, the engine does not come with the engine harness (cut harness)... it has all the plugs but no harness... I read up on Megasquirt but im still a bit confused about it. Does megasquirt just tap into existing sensors? I will be needing some kind of engine management and i was wondering if megasquirt would be perfect for my situation...or would i be better off buying an l28et wiring harness/ ecu and using some kind of FMU. PS. im coming from a honda background so please bare with me here
  14. bump for an answer to this question. Ive searched and found no relative answer. Thanks
  15. damn that is whack...thanks Davy for your helpful info.
  16. sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead... but what about JDM motors? is the emissions requirement in affect as well? Would JDM motors even be considered legal in CA in a pre-75 Z?
