  1. cast iron blocks are [almost?] always painted... a little paint should make a noticable dfference in temperature right?
  2. what does the crank look like on one of those aircraft engines?...
  3. ... damn those limitations in space travel... thats amazing.
  4. yes there is http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=36&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=844&iSubCat=846&iProductID=36 you dont have to make a half cover either, you could make a full one. maybe attach it with magnets, [and because aluminum isn't magnetic, epoxy some to the inside of the dash.
  5. i had an idea to use a half cap just on the top, sice thats where most of the glare is coming from correct? and since yours is flat it'll be easy. get some fiberboard, some thin foam and some leather, mount the leather to the foam and wrap the fiberboard, and staple it on the opposite side. not sure how to mount it to the dash though. steal some clips from the interior doglegs or door panels maybe
  6. there's a good drill press at my work...where do i get the "special hole reamer" ? i'm trying to do as much DIY stuff as i can. i gotta get this thing done on a budget.
  7. I just bought some -8 fuel rail stock from ross machine racing, and i'm wondering how the machining is done for o-ring style injector holes, anybody got any info?
  8. that black paint looks unbelievably sweet youre getting my wheels turning, what did you use to clean it?
  9. ... THE FIRST STEP. cut it with a band saw...pretty straight too.. i was suprised, i've got to file it down just a little to make it completely level. i cut off the flange for the idle air control valve in case i need that also i've still got a little clean up to do, and i'm gonna polish the runners on the inside. and i had an idea too... its not really neccessary, but i thought it'd be cool to grind away the flange and weld the two sections of the runners together...
  10. post an ad in the classifieds maybe?...
  11. why didn't the hood have a cut out for that HUGE turbo?
  12. i wouldn't go as far as to say that they're not "real" magicians, after all, every magician uses camera angles or the audiences line of sight to their advantage. they're all still illusions, no magician is actually doing what they say they are, otherwise that'd be real...."magic" i've been watching a bunch of his stuff, and it becomes obvious that he is using accomplaces... i believe that when he breaks the woman in half on the park bench, he's using a quadraplegic [ anybody remember that episode of jerry springer with the crazy fetishes? the one with the vomiting druing sex guy... wellthere was a lady that was caught cheating on her husband with a quadraplegic in that episode who was cut off above the waist, so thats the only way i can see that he did that trick. but chances are the audiences really are suprised some of the stuff looks pretty amazing upon first inspection, and we dont really know how many take it took him to get those reactions either...thats my rant
  13. looks great! i was thinking the same thing about rb26's being tilted over, that looks so cool for some reason
  14. if you don't plan on reusing the backing plate to convert back to drums later, or selling it, cut it off... but you dont need airtools to get the stub axles off though, i pulled some off of a 280z in a pick in pull with a breaker bar . torquing them back on might be another story.
  15. thanks a bunch. i'm going to just weld a sheet metal plenum to the runners to keep it simple, and cheaper. i don't want to go throught the trouble of having a flange made etc...
  16. JohnC, How do you set up the tee? would a welding supply store have a fitting for that? or would it go on the soft line? i'll pick up some of that solar flux and try that out too.
  17. What type of aluminum [alloy & thickness] is best for fabrcating a sheet metal intake? I'll be welding it to the stock cast runners.
  18. I want to make my own turbo header eventually and i' a bit curious as how to set up backpurging with a tig machine. anybody have any pics of their set ups?
