  2. looks like someone tried to chop the top too... i can't believe people are bidding on that....
  3. i was working like 15-20 hrs a week [yuck] as a custom framer at michaels but i just started a job at a sheetmetal shop last friday, and i'll be working 40hrs a week, with about an hour commute. [yay] $$$$!
  4. my friend wanted me to get into those and they do look like fun ...i researched them, and man they get expensive for all those upgrades, at the end you've got like $200 into a small rc car...
  5. thansk guys the ss rod worked, i'll turn the gas down too. the guy at praxair suggested 30 cfh, but i suspected that he just wanted me to use more gas, 'cause at school in the tig booth the teacher had us set it to around 12 cfh
  6. cooooool looks nice 'n' tidy so far
  7. since i got my tig welder working, i've been welding up some stuff for my suspension,... namely adjustable front LCA's, and the perches for the coilovers on my sectioned strut tubes...and i keep getting porous welds, i'm keeping the tugsten clean, i've got the argon flowing at 30 cfh, so i don't think that's the problem.[ although the line from the bottle to the welder is very long, but coiled up neatly... i'd like to get a shorter one] .. i'm using a filler rod for gas welding... [rg60 - w120050], i cleaned the areas with a wire brush... should i clean more thouroughly maybe? acetone... or what? porous welds on suspension components doesn't sound like fun to me...
  8. i got my illuminas from them. good seller. [nice car btw, i like the wheels, veritech-z.]
  9. wow... newbie of the year... p.s. do a search dude.
  10. i got it working today with a replacement dryer cord from home depot, and the plug receptacle that came with the welder... it worked fine, the wires didn't get hot at all or anything.. i welded up one of my adjustable control arms most of the way... kept having porosity though... i guess i should have cleaned them a lot better. i'm having an electrician friend come over tomorrow to help me with a more permanent solution... p.s. i don't care how long it takes to weld...tig is so awesome
  11. thicker sheetmetal for one... that's what it's so much heavier
  12. that don't look like a Z to me.... does look like some kind of old nissan though... what is it?
  13. i can't believe it... that actually looks good... any more pictures of it?
  14. gnoses make z's look like frogs
  15. i think to do a 5 lug version, you'd need to add more petals [spokes] so that each lug nut wil be centered in a spoke.
  16. not sure yet, we can probably base that off of a stock 240z wheel. [i'll be gone to yosemite for a few days, but i'll start taking measurements after i get back] i was looking on ebay, and there are a lot of used centerlines in 15"x 7 or 8. [pretty cheap too ] the thing is, they're riveted together, should i be able to cut the rivets to take them apart?
  17. probably not, the wheels are really rare. i have to change the design anyways to accomodate the 2 piece wheel construction i think i might have found something for the rim shells, but they're really expensive http://www.rsracing.com/rscatalog/asppages/rrw-pro615.asp anybody have any ideas where to get them cheaper?
  18. i like them without the machined lip. they look better that way, and everyone has machined lips already. you're livin the dream of many.
  19. rubin, i don't have very many pics, i'll send you all i have though, and zero dimensions... i need to get the outer rim shells first and design the centers around them. so does anybody know where to get the outer piece of two piece rims in custom sizes? i might be needing your help in the future if i can't get good enough at autocad to design them. i'm not familiar with the capabilites of cnc machines just yet, but it should be possible to make them rounded on top instead of just flat right? i'm getting autocad 2007 from my friend tomorrow, i'll play around with it, i've got tons of free time to start learning it... are there any reccomended books, or good walkthroughs or websites to teach autocad? edit: rubin, thats awesome! so quick! once i find the correct outer rims, we'll work togother to make a final version! thanks so what i need from you guys is a place to buy the outer rim piece. i think i'll have to buy new, it'd be hard to find something in the correct size and b/s etc, and still be in good shape right? i'll look around on ebay nonetheless and everybody send me any pictures you have of these wheels please.
