  1. My guess is as long as your getting a tach signal in ms from it then it works.
  2. Don't try to do the LED thing yet. I'm sure some1 with a v3pcb knows how to get spark out of pin36. Does anyone know what all the outputs are in megatune? You can set spark out to a bunch of stuff. Is one of them supposed to be set to let spark signal come out of pin 36? What is output 3?
  3. Yeah, it goes from IGN (pin 36) to the other side of the board to the LED d14. The negative lead is closest to db9. I don't know if it will hold up but i did crank my car up and it was hitting right at 10 deg. btdc when i checked it with a timing light. Well my v3 board burnt up today when i was trying to fix my injector problem. It is grounded out somewhere and couldn't every find it and then i fryed a couple of other thing when i accidently touched 2 wires together. Still shows alll the sensors and tach in megatune but does put out ign. or inj. signal anymore. Tired of hunting for the problem so I just ordered another v3 board and parts kit with a couple extra parts so i can try to have 2 working ecu's so i can have a backup .
  4. yeah, but if you go to megatune all the gauges will be red. Just make sure it knows ms is connected and it will load it.
  5. My v3 board got hot fast when i plugged it up. It was because something wasn't soldered on good. check to see if you forgot to solder something all the way on.
  6. I have the same problem. I don't know if you have to set one of the outputs for spark output or what. Mine was making a constant ground always out of pin 36. I set LED 17 (LED closest to db9 on ms box) as spark output and it was getting the right signal. I jumpered pin 36 to the negative lead on that LED. It gets a good spark and starts right up. but haven't ran it long to see if the board gets hot.
  7. -18 = 7600, 68 = 2250, 176 = 290 settings had my water temp within a couple of degrees. Is that for a gm clt sensor or is that the stock datsun sensor? I'm using the stock one. It's reading about 10 deg. more than it really is.

  9. OK. Ill try that. I have 2 stuck injectors. I guess they burned up from them staying open without any resistors installed. How much would two 550cc top feed 14mm o-ring injectors cost and what cars can i get them from.
  10. i have megatune2.25b514 and extra024s9a. With this i could never get spark output off pin 36. I set one of the LED's to spark output and wired the negative off that to pin 36. That has worked and i am getting a good spark. Does anybody know if thats a good enogh ground to trigger a gm hei 4 pin module with or will i burn something up eventually. Anyone know why my injectors open up as soon as i turn ms on? They dont close. It leaks all the pressure out of the fuel lines into my motor. What drivers should i check on the board? Im pretty sure my inj. wiring is right.
  11. does anybody know if the version of megatune and extra that i am using is for the v3 board. I never could get a signal out of pin 36. finally i jumpered pin 36 to the negative side of the LED closes to the db9 plug (instead of js10 ign under 40 pin) and set it as spark output because it has been sending a signal out. Now i have a good spark and i checked it with a timing light andit starts up but my injectors all click on when i turn ms on and it floods the motor out.hmmmm theres another problem. i checked the wiring and nothing touching on the db37 plug. Are the injectors supposed to click when you put power to megasquirt? Its opening them all the way when there isn't any rpm signal in ms. The LED stays off and then blinks when i turn the motor over. So i guess it is sending a signal pulse out. Ill check my wiring 1 more time.
  12. I am using megatune2.25b514 with Extra024s9a. I am not getting a spark. I have 12 volts going to coil. It sparks when i turn the key off. i am using the gm hei 4pin module. I also am using the v3pcb. Alright, in megatune i get readings from all my sensors:clt, iat, tps, o2, and getting good tach singnal.I am getting the tach signal from a 82 dizzy. I installed the 12v and 5 volt pullup resistors and wired it up as in mobys wiring schematic. I have had my car running with standard megasquirt for a couple of minutes but it wouldnt rev over 1500rpms because i had the afm unplugged from the stock ecu. Now i ripped all that out and have my new ms harness wired up and did all the mods to the board for MSnS-extra. I went to the outputs and set LED17 as spark output instead of squirt and the LED on the ms box stays on and when i turn the motor over it blinks real fast. I think thats right because the signal coming out should be a ground and when it takes the ground away that when it jumps the spark over to another grounded spot which would be the spark plugs. I didn't do the thing were you set the motor to tdc and turn the dizzy to 5 deg. max advance or whatever because i set the dizzy to tdc when i swapped my turbo motor in and im just trying to get a spark right off the coil for now. Do you have to se the dizzy specialy for megasquirt. I have trigger angle set at 78 degs. does that mean i have to set the dizzy at around that angle to. Or would it still get a spqrk right off the coil but it wouldn't be lining the rotor up with the spark plug when it triggers the spark. I haven't found any .msq extra maps for the version im using. My cars been down for 3 weeks now, so im ready to get to the point were i can tune it. Here are the mods for my car if some1 has similar: 60mm tb, 550cc inj., 14 psi, all emisions stuff taken off . thats all the major stuff. I have a new 4 pin gm hei module but i think it may have burned it up because i had power to the coil and it wasn't bolted down to any thing and i tapped the aluminum sinc on a ground a couple of times and it made the coil throw a few sparks everytime i lifted it and it got pretty warm.Im replacing that tommorow. If anybody could help me out with the major things you have to have set in megatune that would be nice.I have the fuel good, just need spark settings and stuff like that.
  13. alright, i fixed that problem. turns out that that was the last thing i installed on the heat sinc and i forgot to solder it. I replaced it and everythings fine now.
  14. I had my ms hooked up and it was a getting tach signal and everything but Q5 on the heat sinc got really hot. I unpluged it for awhile and reconnected it and it stopped getting hot but all the gauges on the laptop stayed the same as they were when it got hot. I took my stimulator out and hooked that up and it wouldnt change the rpms or anything on the laptop. What is Q5 for and did it burn up since its not getting hot anymore? also the fuel pump lite on the stimulator and the lap top flash on and off. MSnS-extra on v3pcb
  15. My MS board has been getting pretty hot ever since i started triggering it off the optical dizzy insead of the - side of the coil. I had it in its case before when i had my car started up and never noticed the case getting warm. Today i just had it setting on top of a book and noticed the heat sinc heating up. Does it usually get warm in a couple of minutes or do i have something jumpered on the board that shouldn't be? And does anybody know if you can use the stock power transistor on the side of the coil instead of the gm hei 4 pin? Moby said something about it might be possible butnobody has tried it yet. That was in a pretty old forum. Im using MSnS-extra and im putting it on a 280zxt.
