  1. clint: the oil pan is different. a 300zx pan will never fit. i had to buy a new oil pan and oil pick up tube to fit in the pan correctly the 300zx tube was not long enought or deep enough for the new pan. as far as the AC i took that whole system off. same as the clutch fan. i want all the space i can get. the engine bay is very cramped. the turbo does not hit the frame rail. it hits the drivers side motor mount. but that doesn't matter any way, because i have to move the mount foward to line up to the mount on the motor. my next big problem is where the exhaust cross over the transmisson well it doesn't fit in the truck that way. i'm gonna have to cut a sedction out of the fire wall and set it back 3-4"so i can bolt the motor to the trans. rick: twin turbo's are cramed in a 300zx. i would hate to work on one in a truck. uness it was a skyline motor may be a bit esier but i donno if the length of the motor would fit? i guess with enought money and work it will fit jason: thanks i'm gonna need all the help i can get on this one.
  2. a while ago i posted some questions up in replacing the 2.4 liter engine in my truck with a nice vg30det. sorry i'm having problems trying to get pictures up, but here is what i have done so far. my new transmission is in placefit perfectlt where the old one was. now i'm trying to jam the new motor in i'm just having some slight minor problems. i have to move the drivers side motor mount up about 8 inches and i think i'm going to have to try to move the steering over 1/2 inch i think that do-able. but over all it looks like it will fit. i did my first test fit last night looked very promicing. also how well do you guys know the wiring harness in these motors??? looks fairly straight foward. i'm jusk looking for help just incase.
  3. i'm almost ready to start my conversion, all i need now is some exaust pipe and a clutch. here is my new problem after gathering all the parts to make this conversion a smooth operation i just noticed that i may need a new oil pan. i do not believe the oil pan from the 300zx will fit rigt in my truck? or will it? now here is my question: if i change the oil pan i'm assuming i will need a oil pump to fit in to place ptoperly? if so will i still get the adiquit oil i need for my turbo motor?
  4. what can i use for home made MAF tubing? i'm looking at my options. i'm thinking of alumimum. but what can i do my self? i do not have the equiptment to bend or weld alumimum or stainlass i know i can have it made up but what are my other options???
  5. so i need a 42 gallon and hour pump how many punds is that? what would be a rough price quote? clint: my 88 truck is a 4 cylinder 2.4liter i do not believe the motor mounts are in the same place although they will not bult up to the vg30edt any way. i'm going to fabrocate some mounts so the turbo will fit right in. i'm preping the motor now. the motor might be in by the end of next month? maybe
  6. i am doing a vg30edt conversion into my 88 4X4 nissan truck and would like to know what size fuel pump i should be using? a friend of mine said to use about 50 pound? does that sound correct? and how much should i be willing to spend for a good fuel pump? thanks for the help
  7. i'm still playing around with ideas on my hybrid 280z project. i can't start the project until i sell my 86 300zx so i'm playing with some ideas until it's sold. 1st i already bought a 6-71 blower/supercharger i was gonna go with and i still have. by the way it's for sale. i think i would rather go with a turbo charged 350 i'm thinking twin t3's to start with?? and a friend of mine mentioned maybe quad turbo??? but he also sai it would be hard to work and twin turbo would be alot esier. keep this in mind also my goal is roughly for 500hp if i can do that i will be happy. i'm just looking for some input on my idea's thanks for all your help
  8. i will whe i actually start the porject. i got the motor yesterday. the list of parts so far that i have been collecting is, v6 4x4 trans. motor, ecu, wiring harness, afm. t-bird IC. now i need a good raditor, fuel pump, i would like to install a new water pump and timing belt and a 2 1/2 or 3" exaust system befor installation.

  10. sweet, the b2000 is comming along good. just need some nice wheels now. how is the t-bird ic working out??? thats the same ic i'm using for my turbo truck. it's not installed in mine. i'm also using a 280zxt hood scoop as well. keep up the good work.
  11. i figured i would send this one out there to you guys first. i think i wanna finish what i started first, and beef up my 86 300zx. i bought a turbo motor and stuff for. so i would like to trade my 6-71 supercharger/blower for a t3/t04e turbo. i decided after a while i don't think i like my 280z to much, i think my 300zx is a better car. but that my prefferance. i do not wish to sell the blower i would rather trade straight up. the blower does nto have the ends, but for the right turbo, i may buy some to go with it.
  12. i had 2 od those trucks, one i figure i had it doing 125 mph. i believe the speedo only goes up to 110 mph? any way i had it buried for a long time, and poof! i blew an antifreez line and warped the head and seized the motor all at the same time the other one i grinded the piss out of the wheel wells and fitted 33X12.5X 15 tired on it. i got bored last winter. but i got full turning radious out of it. i traded it for a 350 4 blot
  13. oh i completely understand what u guys are saying. my friend i might buy it from, can get parts of around the same cost as any japanese import. so thats not bad, he said he would help me maintain it. he has alredy checked the valves a few times. so he knows his way around it. i know i will never having it producing much more power than it alredy makes, it's believe it's a little less than 300hp, i had looked in to the jag v12, but after some reserch, they are total junk unless your rich. but i guess the maserati does somthing like 5.3sec 0-60 i believe it weighs more than a 280z also. the only down fall is my friend claims the motor just always want to go fast. well that is what it is made for i guess.
  14. a friend of mine is selling his maserati bi turbo motor for $1000 every thing with it. i thought this would make for an interesting z conversion, it also comes with 2 intercoolers and a k&n ram air set up. since i started collecting parts for a blown 400sb he said maybe we could do a trade. what do u guys think?
  15. i bought an intercooler from a ford thunderbird turbo it's almost new. i got it form a junk yard yesterday, how good of a intercooler is this? i'm using it on my VG30edt truck conversion. i wanted to mount it under the hood scoop,i figured that would be a good place for it
  16. i just bought a 85 turbo motor for my 88 4x4 truck i'm having problems with the 2.4L so it needs to be replaced. here is a cupple things i need, what would be a good fuel pump, coil, maybe IC? i'm thing mitsu, starion or conquest TSI. i got a 81 280zx turbo scoop i'm gonna use, what are the advantages of using a IC rather than leaving it air cooled? some one tole me the colder the air the more it gets compressed in to the cylinders so i can fit more fuel. is that correct? i'm not looking to spend alot of money but i figure i just want to do this once, so i should do it right. also my truck assists the need of my z cars, so i need to get get parts. so i need the parts for my truck to be relyable thanks for all the help!!
  17. **** , that sucks. goo thing i havn't paid for this thing yet. the gut only want a $1000 for it. and it's rebuilt. a spacer shouldn't be a big deal. well find out the info, i hope u can make it work.
  18. i do not intend on going nearly that far. i really just want a truck to get me from point "a" to point "b" a bit better than mine does now. my truck tops out at 75 mph and thats pushing it. i travil alot to mass from maine. I-95 and I-495 people just fly by me. it's really sad. also i need my money for my 77 280z monster i'm building. thats why i'm realy on this board. my truck assists the needs of my 77 280z. and thats how it is!

VRjoe, what type of machine work are we talking about the trans that is comming for me is 98+, so i will require all the info u can shoot out to me. a friend of mine owns a small machine shop. so he maybe or may not be able to help? that depends on what kind of work we are looking at? is thare any way, i can just use an other bellhousing? wouldn't that just be esier? or nothing else will bolt up?
  20. oh the trans the came with it is an automatic. i'm gonna sell that, i know the v6 will not bult up to my 4 cylinder trans. i think i know where there is a 4X4 nissan truck trans. one more question is the v6 4x4 truck trans. is that a B/W t5?? i thought some one said it was but i can not remember.
  21. i bought a 4x4 88 nissan truck, 2.4L it goes takes about a quart of oil a week and it sucks gas like mad it also stocks 115 hp it might have maybe 90 hp now? but it was a damn good deal that why i got it. i was on the look out for a v6 multi port fuel injected 300zx motor that i could drop in, well i found a v6 85 turbo motor with the trans for $400 only has like 70,000 miles. i figured this woud make an intresting conversion. so i bought the motor today. and some time in the late spring or when ever it warms up good so i can pull out my car. i'm gonna drop this thing in. what do u guy think?
  22. i bought this t56 with out even knowing if it will bolt up to a 350 or a 400 sb chevy? is a ls1 a different bolt pattern? i have my doubts, but i figured i would ask. if it's not the same bolt pattern does any one make a adapter plate?
  23. i like the idea of an over drive, but i figured with a 6 speed like a t56 i wouldn't have a need for one. so the t56 is definetly more reliable than the 7 speed? i had no intentions on using a t-10 even though i heard they are bullet proof
  24. hey everyone how's it going. yesterday i bought some corvette wheels for my v8 z project. i bought them off ebay and since the guy i bought them from was not far away i went to pick them up insted to shipping. i figured it would save me some cash. when i got there the guy has ton's and ton's of corvette parts. he claims he's gutted around 200 vettes in the last 2 years. well any way, i'm also looking for a t56 trans (i thought some vettes had them) he says they didn't but some did have a 6 speed but not as good as a t56??? and he said he's got a cupple of them and 1, 7speed trans, he claims the 7 speed's are junk as well???i know nothing of these 2 trans this guy seemed to know his vettes. so is he right?? he thinks a b/w t56 is over all a better trans then the ones he had.
