yeah i figured i may need an ecu upgrade too for a 350???? about the big valve heads some 305s had biger vavle heads tha 350's that was about the only good thing about them.

Any done this LT1/SBC into a 84-89 300zx
warrenp replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
i went to look at a z that a guy put a 305 in toa dn he used a 350 tranny he definetly had hood clearance problems. the air filter was up through the hood it needed a cowl or scoop. the only thing i really didn't like we how the guy routed the exhaust it was single piped exhaust and it was routed low i think he also needed new springs that might help. but duel exhaust would have looked alot better. but no idea how to rout it????????? as you may have read i just bough a TPI i also have a 86 300zx but i was looking to pot the motor in to a 2wd nissan truck or possiably my 300zx. hoping maybe bein TPI might halp clearance problems??? i figure it's gotta be lower than a carb with an air filter? -
whats the 4l60E? is that an automatic? this on is a manual tranny. when you say 5 speed is that a bw-t5? what kinda powr will they hole up to? they alreay told me 500 for the tranny. no matter if it's a 5 speed or 6 speed. so i rather have a 6 is i can for 500 seems like a better deal is one pops up. but i can do with a bw t5 prefer worl calss whats the chances of that being a world class t5?

hey, i just bought a 1990 TPI MOTOR. it's a 305 from a pontiac ecu wiring harness and even alternater for $500 i'm almost 100% sure that 305 tpi and 350 tpi is the same???? cuz i'm hoping this 305 motor i just bought had big valve heads so i can use a 4 bolt 350 block i have.

i found a 95 camero in a junk yard yesterday it's got a 3.4 liter does that sound correct? and all the interrior is striped but tranny and engine is still there. did the v6's come with a bw t56? if so is the v6 tranny as good as the v8 tranny?

from the fusible link box listed there is a BR and a R wires listed on the wiring diagram in the haynes manual. i think BR the wrong color code but any way the actual wire colors from the box are white/blue and a red wire that go to the ECCS where do they plug in to the eccs???????????????????? do they mate up to different color wires? if so where? i'm gonna change my user name to I HATE HAYNES any way as you can see i only have 3 wires left to plug in i would really be greatful for the help!!!

tranny will not bolt up -
Your Car is Slow, sorry about that i guess i just misunderstood your post i found one of those nothstar motors the other day at a junk yard for $800 i have some doubts about it mounting to a RWD tranny. yah for the longest time i thought my 86 300zx was DOHC and a z32 was quad cam. until some one cleared that up for me. as far as the zr1 maybe i'm wrong but was that a lotus motor? i was told once that lotus put a motor in a vette so my guess would be the ZR1
-
chevrolet aslready made the zr1 corvette with dual over hard cams and the v8 northstart is 32 valve but i believe there are no cams at all the valves are controled buy clyinoids. this might have been a misunderstanding? also dual over head cam: 2 cams per head

the one i am picking up is from an Iroc-Z camero and if i can get 300hp i'll be happy. a friend of mine seemed to think they stocked between 250-300hp and i think i'm going to try and stick it in a nissan 2wd d21 hard body i would do the z conversion. to be truthfully honest. i live in maine and alot of salt is used on the roads. and i do not own a garage to store it in. i have one of those portable garages and i built a wood platform last summer so could work on my vehicles. and i think if i had a z it would have to be stored winters. and i just can't cut that. but 2wd d21's are a dime a dozen! so if i leave it out side i won't feel bad. and the full length frame is always a plus too.

how much hp does a stock 350TPI have?
-
fuel economy Z that doesn't sound right. why not just buy one of those hybrid hondas? z's get fairly good gas milage any way.
-
i donno iv'e seen some pretty fasy cummins diesel motors like in the dodge trucks i believe? you could alwasy go detroit GM 6-71 or 8-71 supercharged! your z would only weigh 4X as much as it does now. pump out 150hp and the rear wheels would never see the ground again. but hey look at the bright side with a motor that big in a z i guess you would get the owww ahhhhh effect. or maybe the ahhhahahahah thats dumb

who ever has a parts turbo z maybe non turbo z parts would work? check your haynes manual from the eccs there is a BR and a R WIRS. I need the fusible link box that it attaches to and what ever else from that box on!!! or what ever relating parts in order to make my ECU light up.

how do i tell if my ecu works? as red, azbum, jmbz, and probly other know's i have done a conversion. and put a vg30et in to my 1988 d21. and have never had the truck running with the new motor in it. i found where i'm gitting power to my ecu. but the lights don't light up. and i have tried 2 ecus. one from a turbo one from a non turbo. i just wanted to see if the light lit up. also the connection hooks to the positive side of the battery. it's red with and brown wire from the ecu. i found the red wire to the ecu. but no brown wire to be found? the red one i'm gitting power from. i havn't tested the brown one cuz i havn't found it. could some one tell me where it plugs in to the ecu?
-
yes they all had 200r4's for trannys. i'm about 99.999% sure the GN will not bolt to a BW T56 OR VETTE ZF or any other chevy tranny
-
i'm considering it. i have 2 chevrolet 4 blot main 350's to choose from and a friend of mine is gitting ready to part out his 86 grand national 3.8 turbo. i'm guessing the v6 of the z31 weights less than the L6 of the 70-83 z's so the 3.8 turbo GN motor would be the best idea so not to loose handling but next delema my transmission of choice is either BW T56 OR VETTE ZF 6 speed i can buy an adapter i beieve to run a chevy tranny on a buick?? so many choices! i guess after i'm done with my vg30et nissan 4x4 pick up i might start on a v8 or v6 turbo z31. also i just bought a ducati 748 set me back so now i'm a bit behind my modification schedule for my truck ugh! been 6 months so far. i'm gonna cry if it doesn't run soon.

ok i got 2 plugs here what are they? they are no more than 8"-10" from the fire wall one has 4 pins the other has 6 both plugs are white what do they go to. i can not find where they connect and i have reasion to believe this maybe why my vehical is not starting.

any idea's would be great!!!! i have been working on this conversion for quite some time. and it's really upsetting when i get to this point and i do not know what to do. keep in mind this is my first conversion. i never went to tech. school. so bare with me if i do not understand sometimes. this is what i have done. i have taken my 2.4l 4x4 hardbody d21 nissan truck and have put in it a 1985 vg30et from a 300zx. and i am using a wiring harness from a automatic. shouldn't matter. besides i have been told i need to ground the neutral safty switch. any one know if i need to ground just the wires to the switch? or do i need to get a switch to ground? i tried grounding the wires the i got power from and my ecu still does not light up. BUT PLEASE, PLEASE I AM IN DIRE NEED OF HELP!! i would like to have my truck to drive for summer and show it in augest. if i can get power to the ecu i should in theory get spark!! and it should run. in theory. PLEASE HELP!!!
