  1. i thought that you would like to know. a rebuild kit cost more on a 4.3 liter gm than a gm 350. whats my point? a 4.3 liter is the same as a 350 or 5.7 liter just the front 2 cylinders cut off. same bore same pistons and rods. even the same water pump. so rememebr when you buy a rebuild kit for you 4.3 liter. buy one for a 350 it will save you $$$ and you get 2 pistons extra
  2. hey for all you that answerd my last post. i thought some pictures may help. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2460537949&category=34208 and here it is he just put it up on ebay. he just painted it black not sure why. maybe more appealing? it was all aluminum.
  3. i been thinking about the the last few days. and i think i'm going to be stuck with the t5. i like the clutch flight idea, but like you said i just do not want to find the parts needed. i'm sure it wouldn't be of awful hard. i'm still trying to find all the parts to build my twin turbo project. i want garret t3's. whitch is not a problem. the problem is finding to matching t3's in the junk yards. i have 4 t3's right now, one from a 85 300zx, one from a volvo, one from a saab (front mount) and one from a saab (side mount) none of them match. the down pipes are definetly not intercganeable between t3's either. and none of the exhaust housing are identical. also still trying to run down tripple webbers and intake manifold for a 250 chevy. all on a very tight budget right now.
  4. i was just simply woundering how rare this actually is or how many people have heard of one. seems like it would be a good motor to build. as far as where it goes i think we can let the moderators figure that out.
  5. i believe it's all pertty muvh there no bell housung but i can prolly adapt about anything easy. it's just an matter of input shaft length. the clutch/pump drive mechanism i'm no completly sure what that is. there is a "cluch dog" on the shaft thats what my friend refered to it as.
  6. i have no idea what these should go for. so by the sounds of it 200 is cheep? i already have the t5 world class i was just going to sell that to buy the trans off my friend. so if you was to compare the two in a turbo car. do you think the clutch flight is the way to go or the t5. personally i'm leaning towardthe clutch flight. i just want a second opinion to make me feel better about the decision
  7. i just bought a for b/w WORLD CLASS from a mustang for $150 to put on my chevy engine. summit racing offers a bell housing to adapt the ford T5 to a chevy engine. and ford borg arner T5's world class are much esier to find than a chevy T5 class. easy and simple.
  8. i don't know hos odd this sound but at our shop we just had an old chevy wagen come in that a guy wants to sell for $700 he just wanted to sell it in front of our shop. and we also run the numers on it to see what it was. it came up as a 400 small block with a 4 bolt main. an it was limited production engine. some one should junp on it. i think he will take less than 700 maybe too.
  9. umm i guessing maybe no one know what kind of trans i'm talking about? personally this is the 1st automatic i have seen like this but B&M says they made them for years.
  10. here i am with fork in my path! i'm building up a chevy 250 twin turbo project. i have a borg warner T5 world class transmission i was going to use. even though i have been told automatics are better for my application. a friend of mine owns a small machine shop and he was given this B&M transmission it's a chrysler torque flight 727. but the tail shaft has been shortened and the bell housing cut off and adapter was made to take a standard bell housing. for better take off. i was told by B&M that when the trans was made there was no good standard transmissions at the time and no good torque converts made so this was there comprimise. a automatic bolted to a standard clutch assembly. i don't know how many of you have even heard of such a timg but they did it on GM 400 turbo's too. do you guys think this would be optimal for my application? he told me $200 and i can have it.
  11. yeah i know about the new england zcar club. i beleive john j. told me about it. maybe you know him? i have a verry nice 86 300zx with a list longer than my arm of new/aftermarket parts. just sits in my shop. i havn't driven it in a few years. but she's my pride an joy. i pretty much know how to fix my truck but the parts are not available here. i just need the full ignition from a 80's 300zx. my truck was a z24 engine. and the dual ignition will not work. it will not even plug in to the ecu. so i believe my ecu will not light up becasue it's not gitting an ignition signal, so i have been told the whole engine is wired up i just need the ignition.
  12. once again cost $$$ check http://www.inliners.org there is a guy with a 292 turbo intercooler and it's a 4bbl pressureized and an other guy that has a 250 i believe, but he runs tripple webbers. don't get me wrong i love datsuns but the parts are costly to replace and some are near impossiable for me to get and find. there are few datsunds here in maine. the do not last our snowy conditions and the salt on the roads. i'm lucky just to see a 300zx on the roads here. also i'm gitting abit sick of feuel injection. i'm machanicly inclined to a point. i have a 1988 nissan 4x4 that i installed a vg30et in to. i'll be damed if i can get spark or even the ecu to light up. and no one around here knows any thing either so i get abslutly no help. i get answers from here and from other sites about wiring it up. it just never seems to get the answer i want it's been a year and a half and it doesn't run.
  13. for those of you that have been reading my last post. i have 2 t5 trannys one is a ford world class t5 the other is a non world class t5 from a chevy so that question is, is a world class all it's cracked up to be? NWC or WC?
  14. bucik, pontiac, olds made a standard bell housing that will work also on ebay there is an adapter to bolt a olds bolt pattern to a chevy engine for $20 i bet i can do that set up for less than $100 to make it work.
  15. hmm your the 1st person i have ever heard say that. i havn't talked to many people on the subject. if any one else has input on the subject i will listin. i need to know asap becasue we are about to put a good used t5 NWC on ebay from a chevy.
  16. i'm just going to run a fod clutch. summit offers a bell housing that adapts the ford T5 to a chevy v8 FOR $319 i would rather use an adpter to cut down on cost if i can find one. hey heavy z, thats a nice z i like how that scoop was added over the stock cowl.
  17. well i have a chevy one too. but it's just a t5 i rather use a world class t5. that are easy to find here from mustangs chevy didn't even use a world class t5 until the mid 90's verry hard to me to get up here in maine. i can get them down in mass. but thats a 3hr drive and they want $500 and thats when chevy had some extended input shafts and the bell housing has to be from a v8 or 4.3 3.8's 2.8 will not work i found summit offers a bellhousing for $319 that adapts a ford borg warner t5 to a chevy v8. but now i think buick, pontiac, and olds had a standard bell housing that may work that i can get off ebay. they had 8 bolt hols unlike the chevys that have 4 to bolt up to the tranny. so i believe the cheepest way is to buy the adapter on ebay buick to chevy and also buy the buick bellhousing and bolt it to a chevy.
  18. ohh i'm confused! i just bought a t5 world class transmission from a mustang i wanna bolt it to a chevy engine but the bellhousing from a chevy t5 will not bolt up. i tried one that came on a TA 2.8 i realize the 2.8 will not fit a v8 engine i just wanted to see if the bell housing would bolt up and it does not. the t5 that it was bolt to was not a world class would that make a differance? any way i need a bell housing that i can bolt my T5 world class number 208 to a chevy 250 engine same bolt pattern as a v8 what can i get one from? what years work? how much should i spend?
  19. nope will not bolt up. the input shaft is the same clutch will work, on any z, 240sx all pickups 2.4 or 3.0
  20. i donno if a 292 would fit as easy under a hood of a z. it's 2" taller than a 250. also a 292 is a truck motor for a reasion made to haul big loads and plenty of torque. it will not turn up as easy as a 250. either way parts as wicked cheep for some reasion i knew some one would say why not build ........ because it's cheep and i my wallet can work with it. so far i have $80 in to this project the 250 engine was given to me my cousin owns the junk yard i bought the t3's at. and the BW T5 cost $150 but i just sold the bellhousing on ebay for $71 i gotta find one for a chevy to make an adpater since this tranny came from a ford.
  21. sorry been leaving you guys in the dark i been visting inliners.com alot but lately i have been gathering parts so far i have the basic start 250 engine, 2 garret t3 turbo's from saab's, and a borg warner wrold class t5. i wanna use a offenhauser manifold and a 4bbl holly but i have been told that it will need to be pressureized and thats a pain. or my 2nd option is tripple webbers. but with my buget 4bbl is alot cheeper. but i was told with tripple webbers that i do not need to pressureize them. any way what way would you guys go? and why
