This is for those of us old enough to have experienced this and for the young ones who probably wish they were there. Some past history I wanted to share: "I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20." "Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2000 will only buy a used one." "If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous." "Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?" "If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store." "When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage." "Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls." "I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying 'damn' in 'Gone With The Wind,' it seems every new movie has either "hell" or "damn" in it. "I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas." "Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the president." "I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now." "It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet." "It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work." "Marriage doesn't mean a thing any more; those Hollywood stars seem to be getting divorced at the drop of a hat." "I'm just afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business." "Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress." "The drive-thru restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on." "There is no sense going to Lincoln or Omaha anymore for a weekend. It costs nearly $15 a night to stay in a hotel." "No one can afford to be sick any more; $35 a day in the hospital is too rich for my blood." "If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it."

I thought I'd share this article about an alternative method to repairing front windshield channels. It's not a Zcar being repaired but it's the alternative method with which the front windshield channel is being repaired that makes it interesting to me. I'm aware that this method of repair is not for everyone but I ask that you keep an open mind about this repair technique. Thanks, RacerX http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/tech/0306pon_windshield_channel_repair/

I was reading engine articles on NA engines and I've noticed that a couple of the high performance engines were running 11.0:1 or 11.5:1 compression ratios. This was the new Z06 Corvette LS7 engine with 11.0:1 while the 2006 BMW M3 is running 11.5:1 CR. My question is that it's obvious these cars are able to run on Premium Pump Gas. With the technology of stand-alone computer systems that are now available for use when doing engine swaps - do you feel you could get away building a high compression engine for your next engine swap. Obvious there is much more power to be had. With this in mind, do you feel 12.0:1 CR is streetable? I remember in the late 60's when guys were running 13.0:1 on pump gas - but back then the octane was much higher than todays pump gas. Your thoughts please. thanks, RacerX

Found this for sale in LA - RHD - Gnose Zcar but take a look at the subtle flares. They look like a custom job to me or does anyone recognize these flares to be mass produced by some company? Here's the link to the ad (would someone be kind enough to assist in posting the pictures of the car for me - please? - thanks!) http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/car/212697954.html thank you, RacerX

Max, If you're inquiring about the square tubing skeleton next to my drawing - that was my Zcar I was working on back around 1975-1976 I believe - so long ago. You'll note some similarity to my drawing that I use as my avatar. If you'll take a closer look I also welded up my rear quarter windows to simulate a corvette style look. I was very fortunate to have come across those pictures. There are all that I have of that car. The yellow 1st Gen RX7 was my own personal car built as a promotional vehicle for Hayashi Racing back in 1980. The car was one of the very first RX7's to hit the states and was a 1978 model. It was also registered as a 1978 model. I get alot of RX7 enthusiasts claiming that Mazda never made a 1978 RX7. I'm glad you've enjoyed the pics - thanks for looking! RacerX

Thanks Max, I've done two 1973 Datsun 610 wagons over the years. The last one, about 10 years ago, was a sedan delivery. Please take a look at some of my project and customers cars: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mantislightninghands/album?.dir=4dd4&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos thanks, Ernie - RacerX

it's a 1973 Datsun 610 wagon! But I do have plans on making this a rolling business card - lots of body mods - transplanting a different suspension etc., VQ35 - 6speed etc.,.,. If the moderators will pardon me for asking this here (it's because I know there is predominant viewing traffic here). The car which I'd like to acquire is located in southern california. I'm located in the San Francisco-northern california area. I am asking if there is anyone with a truck and trailer that would be able to assist me in picking up the car and trailering it back up here please. What would even be better, is if that person was planning on attending the Japanese Classic Car show in Long Beach. I really would like to attend that show and meet up with some of the HybridZ memeber that were kind enough to PM me about meeing up with them there. Thanks so much for the thought guys!! I'd pay for fuel and meals or would consider a partial trade in labor if they needed assistance with their project. I apologize that I'm not able to compensate more monetarily. Thanks for the consideration! RacerX

A friend of my neighbors son just popped by and informed me he wanted to paint his fairly new Acura RSX with this new chrome paint. I asked him if he ever saw a whole car painted entirely in chrome paint. He said "Did you ever see 50 cent's car? I said "who?" Now I know who this 50 cent guy is!! I told him I wouldn't do it and I referred him to someone. A thought came to mind since we're always asking about paint schemes/what color etc.. Would you or has the thought every occurred to you to have your Zcar done in chrome paint?? I wouldn't! RacerX
