  1. Please tell me how you like/dislike your spray gun - is the fan not wide enough - it sprays incredible etc., Remember the thread about roll on paint jobs? I discovered that in Europe they actually have a roll on paint system - paint formulated for roll on application. My buddy and I are planning on acquiring the primer surfacers to do some R&E (research and experimentation) on the stuff. We won't have to log the material for the Bay Area Quality Control Enforcers because we're not spraying the material. Thanks everyone!! RacerX p.s I've been hearing quite a few people I know in the automotive industry brag about the Japanese made spray gun - Iwata. I've used their airbrush and really like it - I'm gonna have an opporutnity to use the bigger spray gun on a project car. Does anyone have personal experience with the HVLP Iwata Spray guns?
  2. I'm aware that the inline 6 cylinder engine is inherently well balanced as opposed to a V6. My question is - does the BMW V12 engine having 2 banks of 6 cylinders share the smoothness of the inline 6? Thanks in advance for your observations! RacerX
  3. This isn't a Zcar but I thought it would be worth sharing. This was in the local news. RacerX http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/04/30/MNGJGII7BB1.DTL&type=cars
  4. I wanted to provide this link of someone who has already documented his own homebuilt paint booth. I hope this will be helpful for those wanting to paint their own Zcar! RacerX http://www.theairplanegarage.com/History_and_Preperation/the_paint_booth.htm
  5. Back at you mike!! I was starting to get disappointed that no one was wanting to wish anyone a great and prosperous new year. Thanks Mike!! RacerX
  6. Wishing all the brethren a great New Year. Hope all your Zcar projects get the bodywork and painting done this year. be safe, RacerX
  7. I wish to ask some questions please, to those of you who have purchased books/videos on bodywork and auto painting. What was the price you paid for your book or video? Were they worth the price to you? Were they very informative? If not, what was lacking? What factors prompted you to purchase the book/video? What would your media preference be if you had a choice: DVD, hardbound book, downloadable e-book? Your input would be appreciated!! thank you, RacerX
  8. Hey Alex!! Right on all three - pop me an e-mail and we'll coordinate a day and time. RacerX
  9. Pardon me for posting this here but since this is the body and "paint" forum I figured there is more viewing traffic. I am cleaning out my garage and I came across a couple of spray guns I haven't used for some time and would like to give them away. They're still operational. The criteria is that the person must "PICK THEM UP" - please no exceptions. (It won't matter if you choose to pay for shipping. I don't want to ship them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I live in Daly City, California. I have 1 = DeVilbiss SGB510. I use this for very heavy viscosity paint material. I dedicated this for small size Zolatone applications. I also have 1 = Campbell Hausfield DH Model Pressure Pot and spray gun assembly. I dedicated this for Zolatone usage when I painted car interiors or engine compartments. Here's how this works: you'll have to answer the following three questions correctly to win the spray guns. The winner will need to be available to pick up the spray guns. 1. The early 1970 Datsun 240Z came with a 150 horsepower rating. What was the actual flywheel HP rating? (I got this info from Mac Tilton who was the crewchief for BRE back in the 70's and a close acquaintance of mine!) 2. A batch of 1969 240Z cars were designated for two factory backed racing teams. Who were they? I'll need their logo and the full names. 3. When the Datsun 240Z was first introduced - why did it cost more for a "used" 240Z than a new one? Thanks, RacerX
  10. I came across this by accident but thought it would be interesting reading. I've never seen it until now but perhaps some of our members may have already come across it. Any opinions please? RacerX http://www.ztherapy.com/products/videos/sap_tech.htm
  11. I'm sure you couldn't lose with any one of these engines - they're incredible. I'd sure like to have one of them under the Christmas tree to install in a Zcar!!! http://popularmechanics.com/automotive/motor_sports/1997/6/cart_irl_twice_racing_3/index6.phtml RacerX
  12. This photo was taken at the 2004 SEMA show. I'd really like to see a rebody for the early Zcar like this! So nice! RacerX http://www.swedespeed.com/gallery/generated//Events/Industry/SEMA/2004/General%20Show%20Gallery/088__scaled_600.jpg
