I spoke with the guy who built the Hayabusa powered car. He told me he was the first customer to purchase the Hayabusa V8 engine - he did not build the engine - he engineered and built the vehicle. He informed me he paid $20,000 for the motor alone! It cost money to be different! RacerX

I know I've considered motorcycle engines as a possible engine swap - but only for a brief moment. Yet, there seems to be hybrids of this sort starting to pop up. They've probably been around for a while. It is only recently that I've stumbled across them. What do you think of the possibilities? I think some of these are incredible!! I was referred to this shop during my excursion to obtain info on a Zcar project. The name of the shop is Williams Auto Body & Paint. William Wei is the owner/operator and also a great guy! He has a couple of Zcar's himself besides having a few more inside his body shop in different stages of restoration/modification. He was kind enough to allow me to meet back at his shop late this afternoon to show one of his Zcars. A 2.8 liter block with 240Z head and triple carbs - weber side draft import copies!! I was informed that it dynoed just over 200HP at the rear wheels! Anyway, the reason for this post is for those HybridZ members that are in need of someone to work on their Zcar, that is also familiar with the vehicle - His shop address: Williams Auto Body & Paint 1001-1003 South Railroad Ave., San Mateo, CA 94402 William Wei: Owner/Operator phone # 650.572.1800 fax# 650.572.1819 Here's his website: http://www.willamsautobody.net So, for those of you that have e-mailed me inquiring about a shop - I'm referring William to you. Please tell him Ernie/RacerX from HybridZ referred you. Thanks, Ernie/RacerX

Here's the only photo I have of the 610 coupe engine I built. It's an datsun L20B - 2 liter block and as you can see I use duel 44mm mikuni carbs. I mated the 240SX dog leg 5 speed to it. Max, thanks for the kind words! RacerX http://new.photos.yahoo.com/mantislightninghands/album/576460762326144268/photo/294928803337730914/10

veritech! No, I wasn't able to find anyone that could help me. I guess I'll stick to finding my Zcar (that's what my wife suggested I do!). Thanks for asking! RacerX

If you were to decide on what materials to use to modify your Zcar body, be it fender flares/quarter panels etc., - would you prefer metal/aluminum or Fiberglass composite construction? Why? thanks, RacerX

I saw this today on Craigslist. The body looks decent and thought I'd share the info for anyone wanting to get a Zcar project going soon. Perhaps not a lot of bodywork to get involved with, just getting it running! RacerX http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car/229707718.html 1974 V8 Datsun 260Z project, must sell this weekend! - $995 (lafayette / orinda / moraga) Reply to: sale-229707718@craigslist.org Date: 2006-11-03, 11:15AM PST The project has finally ground to a halt, and I don't see myself working on her anymore. My loss is your gain, the car is so damn close to running...here's some info and pics on the car: 1974 Datsun 260Z, clean title, up to date tags, straight body, little rust 1977 Chevy 350 engine, pulled out of a running Impala 350 turbo automatic transmission engine and transmission are all mounted up via the JTR kit (a 300+ dollar value) Custom driveshaft cut to proper length (300 dollars) brand new JTR aluminum radiator and radiator fan mounted via mount kit (220+ dollars) Holley blue fuel pump connected via REAL AN stainless steel braided line (300+ dollar value) Aftermarket gear reduction starter installed ($250) ALL OF THIS is installed and included in the asking price. Basically everything mechanical is mounted up, and all that needs to be done is the 10 wires that go to the engine need to be wired up. I would finish it, but these days all I want to do is work on motorcycles, and a small block chevy is of no interest to me. This car would be perfect for someone looking to start a V8 project, if only for the parts or the mounting kit...such an awesome value! THE CAR DOES NOT RUN, DO NOT CALL ME IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A RUNNING CAR. I WILL HANG UP ON YOU IF YOU ASK ME IF IT RUNS... With that being said, give me a call if you're interested: 925-330-8284 ask for Justin This item has been posted by-owner. no -- it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

I'd like to ask if anyone in the northern california area acquired a front and rear set of John Washington's Reaction Research Subtle Z flares? I'm cognizant that there are pictures of the Subtle Z flares on the Reaction Research website but I'd still like to ask if you would allow me please, to view the flares in person. Thank you for your time! RacerX

And the 240Z is one of them!! If you wish to read the entire list, here's the link: http://www.drive.com.au/buy/TopTen/ChangedTheWorld.aspx Here's the 240Z writeup: Datsun 240Z It's hard to imagine a motoring world without the high-tech sports cars from Japan. True, Japanese sporties don't have the cachet of Euro exotica with badges such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati, but they have changed the accessibility and affordability of high performance. The car that proved the Japanese could deliver a proper sports car at a friendly price and make it work in any market came in the late 1960s: Datsun's 240Z. Its derivative styling (long bonnet, short rear overhang) recalled the Jaguar E-Type, as did the in-line six-cylinder engine, but the Datsun was a proper sporty machine in its own right. As well as providing flexible performance, the 240Z was also one of the first Japanese cars that could be said to handle even remotely properly. The timing of the 240Z was right, too; it arrived just as the British sports-car industry was going down for the third time with antiquated designs such as the Austin Healey, MGB and E-Type, leaving the door open for a modern design with some dash and flair. I hope this is the appropriate place for my inquiry. In regards to building a Zcar for more street use than track use; For those of you who have already completed their Zcar project - if you were to do it again, what would you do differently in the engine capacity? For those of you who are in the process of, OR contemplating an engine for your project, what have you decided on and why? This is my inquiry. Would you prefer to have the extra cubic inches, extra cylinders and horsepower that comes with it though there is some weight gain to the car OR would you prefer to have a lightweight engine and make up horsepower by power adders and keep the car as light as possible? Why and how did you come to your decision? I would prefer that this doesn't get into a discussion about using specific engines please. Thanks for your thoughts! RacerX
