  1. Thanks GD, Welcome to the forum!! Next time you have the opportunity to speak with him - would you be kind enough to let him know we're talking about his project and please invite him to come on board and share his project with us. Thanks for the info. Look forward to more contributions from you. RacerX
  2. Nice! Interesting use of the RX7 LCA! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/563982 RacerX
  3. I just saw a 240Z in the parking lot a while ago and noticed it had headlight covers. I went over to admire the car and I realized that I never liked the way the headlight covers were mounted. The "L" brackets that are screwed to the headlight bezel - readily seen - to me - diminish the visual appeal. Are the headlight cover kits offered today mounted any differently? I'd like to ask all of you for a cleaner method of installing the clear headlight covers - your ideas please? Thanks, RacerX
  4. I believe this car was featured in a magazine that was discussed here a while back. I found these videos and thought some of us would enjoy watching. RacerX
  5. I came across this website that provides newly built stroker RB26DETT, SR20DET even 2JZGTE engines. Look at the prices - click on the link to convert Austrailian Dollars to USD. RB26 engine $47K - WOW! SR20DET - $25K - cough!! $$$??? RacerX http://www.exvitermini.com/forsale.htm Hope it was OK to post this here?!?
  6. Someone had sent me a question about pulling dents and I thought I'd share this alternative to electric stud gun dent pullers that require welding a stud to the metal panel. Glue gun dent pullers: http://www.toolsource.com/ost/product.asp?sourceid=google&dept%5Fid=500&pf%5Fid=91358&mscssid=XLQUW5T15T228HT0CW3LLWL3ND500439 http://www.toolsource.com/ost/product.asp?sourceid=google&dept%5Fid=500&pf%5Fid=91301&mscssid=XLQUW5T15T228HT0CW3LLWL3ND500439 RacerX
  7. Hi Austin, I stumbled across this link to the magazine writeup of your car. I don't remember if the link was ever posted - I did a quick search and I was not able to find anything. Hope you won't mind that I post the link so we could see more pics of the car and read the story. How's your awesome car doing? RacerX http://www.tunerzine.com/articles.php?id=188
  8. I found this webpage regarding BMW engine specs. I noticed with the horsepower/torque info provided that it also posted - what I believe to be the engine weight both in "Kg" and "lbs". If this is so - these engines are very lightweight or am I not understanding something here. Look at the weight of the M70 12 cylinder engine: M70 V12 SOHC 24V. 1988-1994. 155kg 341lbs Used in E32 750il, 850i 5.0 (300bhp) Chelle - is this correct since you have one of these engines in your car? Brethren - What is your observation please? Thanks for your input. RacerX http://www.bimmerforums.com/engine_faq/
  9. Very interesting! http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/03/30/spark.air.car/index.html RacerX
  10. Perhaps some of you have seen this website. I've been using some of the paint finishes they developed and thought some of you might get some unique ideas from the products. Take a look around the website. just sharing the info. RacerX http://www.alsacorp.com/
  11. Since roll on topcoat paints have been discussed, I wanted to share the info on "roll on primers". Transtar autobody tech has developed such a product. Check it out! RacerX http://www.tat-co.com/datasheets/6461.pdf#search=%22transtar%20non%20isocyanate%20automotive%20primer%22
  12. I was at the bookstore the other week and saw a few books on "how to paint a car, how to paint flames, how to do custom bodywork etc...." For those of you that purchased similar type books, I'd like to ask you what you liked about the book. If you found it lacking, what is it that would have made the book more beneficial for you. Thanks for your time!! RacerX
  13. Thanks to all of you for the kind words. It really means alot to me right now. I've been at the hospital watching over my father who has had 3 heart attacks this past year and he had another emergency operation the other day and now has pneumonia. I've always seen my father as a strong man - I'm sure most of us have viewed our fathers that way - but seeing him so deathly thin and with all these hoses poked into him is a challenging sight! So, please accept my greatful thanks for helping me to get thru this difficult time with your kind words. I really meant it when I said I was counting my blessings amongst all of you here! Thanks for your time!! Ernie - (RacerX)
  14. I hope not! I've still got a car to build!!! Sitting in the hospital - I was just reminded to be thankful for all my blessings - and you guys are a blessing to me - thanks! And veritech, I appreciate you also as with everyone who's name I did not mention due to space limitations. RacerX
  15. Hi Everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the members of the HybridZ forum for all the inspiration you provide me with the photos of your projects, whether it be bodywork, paint, suspension, even the questions posted. Also a special thanks to the moderators who help keep this website running so efficiently. Just to mention a few members whose cars are great inspirations to me - like TerryO-(aka blueovalz - I can't stop looking at your website pics Terry!!), Dan Juday (aka Dan Juday - haha! Seeing your car in person Dan is a sight to behold - Thanks for the privilege of working on it!), Pete Paraska (hope you're feeling better Petet!) and even our young Austin (aka 240hoke) with his gorgeous car (I think it should be against the law for someone under 21 years of age to drive such a wonderful piece of machinery-LOL!), These gents, their cars and other members motivate me to one day aspire to building something unique and worthy to share on HybridZ. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be allowed membership on this fantastic forum. I appreciate all of you and the courtesy and respect that everyone here shares towards one another. Most importantly - thanks to all of you who have PM'd me personally and made me feel that I have something of value to contribute. I'm thankful for such a great HybridZ family! Be well! Ernie (aka RacerX)
  16. Look at the bodywork on this new electric car! It's now available and is called the Tesla Roadster. Take a look: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/gate/archive/2006/08/02/notes080206.DTL RacerX
  17. I just happened across this website. I did a search and didn't find anything referring to this site. Lots of Nissan info. RacerX http://www.engineswaptech.com/
  18. What a gorgeous sight this engine would make in the Zcar engine bay! RacerX
  19. Whether you sprayed a small panel, stripes, designs or a whole car. What was your observation? Did you like the way it sprayed? I sprayed a hood with waterbase paint from Auto Air Color. It's a different animal from what I am acustomed to. Any thoughts please? Thanks, RacerX
