  1. ok thanks for the imput. I am running the engine on straight LPG and am thinking a buildup may be an option. the vortec engine is common i know but what did it come out of and what years was it produced? Thanks
  2. Ok, hi all i am an aussie and looking for a new chev v8 for my 260. I am looking at the vortec 330hp rollercam 350 chev. Has anyone purchased one of these motors here or u blokes in the states? Also is it possible to get more horsepower out of these motors seeing the vortec heads flow so well? Thanks and long live the hybridz forum. Graeme
  3. I would totally suss the carby first before moving on to other issues. It sounds like the whole inards of the carb need a good clean out. Finish the other qjet , put it on and let us know if it is better. Always pays to eliminate possible causes bit by bit. Grae
  4. could you turn those scoops around so the open end was front? That would look trick.
  5. hello, I am trying to buy a pair of flowtech warlock bypass mufflers for my 327 chevy. I am in Aus, does anyone know where i can get a set? In the states or aus. Cheers graeme
  6. propane and gas is not a sensible thing to do. Only one or the other. My system is propane dedicated and tuned for propane. No gas sees my engine. It funny in aus we call propane gas and petrol petrol or unleaded. U guys call petrol gas. Confusing. anyway any car that runs on both fuels will not reap the benefits og a good propane tune.
  7. i think it would be more of a tuning issue. The guys that dyno mine have asked for certain criteria ie, power/economy type of driving and where. So as long as the tuners have a good grasp on this concept then u should have no problems. I also intent to do some mountain driving soon as I am close to the mountains as well as the sea, so I can give u some feedback if u like when i take it for another run. I am getting another dyno done as i have changed the exhaust system since, twin 2.5 ich into a 3 inch. So when i get that done i will go bush Graeme
  8. Tank pressure I am not sure of an exact pressure. I have however suffered from too much pressure once. I was on a long trip and it was 45 degrees celcius.(thats Hot) and stopped to get gas. the pressure in the tank was greater than that in the refiller so I bought a bag of ice and sat in on the tank for 10 mins which allowed me to fill up. Cam profile, I run a competitions cam quite mild due to the supercharger going on later. part no# 12-242-2 grind no# cs xe268h-10 I have had no problems with backfire. Regularly replace plugs at 10000 km intervals. This is a must on propane i am told. The system responds extremely well to throttle response I put the car on the track for fun and give it a work out and have had no problems. The system has a safety cutout switch on it that is connected to the coil, so when ever it stops the gas is cut off. This occurs also if it stalls with the key still on. This is a legal requirement with a gas setup anyhow. Hope this helps graeme i rely on tank pressure and that is more than enough. donbt know of the altitude question i am at sea level and have not ventured high enough to comment. Mileage, I have a 65 litre gas tank and on the freeway am getting 350kms approx before i fill it up. I dont let the gauge run below 1/8 empty as a precaution. I have a remote filler pipe that allows me to use a 9 kg tank if i run out of gas. I have used it and it works only on colder days and if the tank is empty.
  9. I got the kit through gas research in melbourne australia. For everything accept the tank it was around $1000 AUS. they also do a twin throttle body setup at around $1700. Gas here is 33 cents a litre and petrol is 1.07. much cheaper
  10. It also means I can connect up a supercharger to the carby, with a simple connection. I have the supercharger in mind and am hopefully going to get it in July.
  11. The system runs on propane with one converter pumping gas into a custom carby. The carby looks like a throttle body and is designed purely for gas systems. the manifold sits on top of my torker inlet and i connected the whole system up in my shed. I bought it as a kit. the single gas carby can flow up to 500 hp why , because of the emission laws down here i could not get it engineered unless it ran on unleaded with cats etc, or the alternative is to run straight gas. That meant remove the fuel tank and lines have the heads redone for gas then have it dynoed for optimum power because gas is 112 octane u can get 10% more power with this setup.
  12. i have some photos of my car i would like to send to the chev forum i have a digital camera and the images are ready to go. I have put the photos in the gallery but cant put them in a thread? plz hlp
  13. my 327 after a bath ( How's that...Mike kZ)
  14. I plan on keeping the r200, mine is LSD and i was thinking of using the powertrax for better breakaway, anyone used this?
  15. Let us know how u go jmort i am interestd in increasing the breakaway on my r200 also. Cheers Grae
  16. cool, i am thinking a vortech, there is plenty of room for the sc and an intercooler might run 8-10 psi hehe
  17. I am considering supercharging my 327. Has anyone done this and what results did u get?? Grae
  18. What heads would be the best upgrade for my engine? al or iron best bang for the buck
  19. Im running on LPG, with a tuned gas research carb, Has been dyno tuned and jetted correctly. The cam is a comp cams 265
  20. I have a 67 327 stock bottom end bored .60 1.9/1.5 double hump fuelies, torker manifold and mild cam, with block huggers running gas research straight gas. I am making 180 rwhp. How can I increase power on a budget. Thanks Graeme
  21. rebel, you have my attention, how can I get more power cheap??
  22. Hi guys got the zed dynoed the other day , ran a 135 kw (180 hp) at the wheels . Has a standard 327 on straight gas research. Wanting more power obviously, and wanted to know if anyone has any ideas about supercharging this engine. Dont want to change the engine, can I bolt on a supercharger at LOW boost and get some more power. I have a feeling it may not be worth it without reducing the comp ratio, but the engine is on its last legs (not blowing smoke) but fully bored to 60 thou and just wanted to get more power before I do a complete engine replacement. Cheers Graeme
  23. Thanks guys , I will do the paperclip trick in the secondary to see if they are opening under load. The dissy has been modded and has no vacuum on it so I will block off the holes again. And it used to run with an auto so i wont need them seeing i have a 5 speed man. With a modded dizzy what should I be running the timing at? I have it at 8 btdc.
  24. Hi again, drove the beast yesterday for its maiden voyage. It was wet and I was very careful not to get to excited. But I dont think the seconadaries are opening properly. There is a vacuum line at the font bottom of the carb that is blocked off, and also a pipe into the manifold is blocked off. Do these two connect up to allow the secondaries to operate? The carb is a holley 750 dp vacuum secondaries, model 3310-3. Any help would be great.
  25. How much hp do you want. This is something you need to workout and what is the car to be used for. Its great to have heaps of power but in the right situation.
