  1. Stock EFI right now. I have a complete SU carbs setup that I could put on but just haven't gotten to it.
  2. Yesterday I swap on a N47 head on my F54 block set timing for 10* and filled up with 91octane -- other than a 3-2 header to straight exhaust & MSD Coil the car is bone stock. On the test drive I found an open stretch and eased on to WOT felt really good on the low end but around 5,500+ rpm the motor drops on it's face and sputters. Driving around normal at part-to-half throttle it's fine but sounds like I hit an ignition cut or something when I go flat out? What does this sound like? time to upgrade stock ignition? For reference on my other combo(F54/P79) it did the same thing just not as bad. Thanks
  3. just throw a 3 quarts of Engine Restorer in it. You'll be fine.

Need as complete of setup I can get -- Linkage, sheild, crossover lines, manifold, etc. Still a beginner at carb tuning but going to convert my l28e over to SU's and thought it would be a cheaper route to go until I can prepare myself for Triple DCOE's. I'm in Inland Empire area but only about 35 miles from Los Angeles, PM me. Thanks.

  6. update? I'm interested to know what I might be facing if I decide to go the swap route with my '78. I'm wondering if I swap in a v8 with all the factory smog equip and passes sniffer even though it's a 78 will it be legal? I drove a swapped sr20det 240sx for 5 years got popped once but chp only mentioned my pepboys air filter.
  7. damn I was hoping that wasn't the guy you got yours from, I saw it earlier on CL and left a message but he didn't respond. It was advertised with the differential and engine stand too! You came up on a sweet deal! congrats. Just out of curiosity did you get the AFM/ECU and stuff too?
  8. Excellent project, you're on the the right track and seem to have your priorities in order. Question though where did you find that L28ET for so cheap? I've been looking all over L.A for one and haven't had any luck.
  9. I'm picking up a low mile 5.0 motor from the local salvage yard for stupid cheap but has anyone used the technoversions kit on a 280z? I see it just has the 240z/260z listed, I know for chevy mounting kits I've read you have to flatten the floor a bit for the trans mounts on the 280
  10. Cut half coils off my springs as the ride was waaay too high for my liking, I would like to finish it off with a set of 240z isolators so if anyone has a set PM me.
  11. Thanks, and yea after searching a bit on the net I found a template with the reversed LHD measurements and went by that.
  12. I got mine from pepboys it was like 20 bucks. They used to be metal back in the day but plastic now.

  15. Just received my mirrors today, they look really nice and are built surprisingly well.....I'll probably have them installed tonight and have pictures sometime tomorrow.

  17. I just went ahead and pull the trigger on that ebay deal, the guy has tons of feedback on them and most people are satisfied so why not. I'll be sure to update this thread once they're here in a couple of weeks I guess. Thanks for the replies. Do you have pictures of yours installed, only Z I've seen them installed on is that gunmetal 2+2 I posted.

I've been looking for a set of fender mirrors for my 280, but the only set I've found are shipping from the Philippines with an estimated delivery of December sometime, just wanted to check here to see if there is another place state-side to buy these.   19. Yep that's the 280z one I picked up from MSA.
  20. My '78, it's coming along slowly. The main annoyance with the car as of now is the sloppy suspension feels like I'm driving around in jello. So Tokico shocks and rollbars + bushings/endlinks coming soon along with disc brakes in rear.
  21. saw the cover of the mag at work today and I had to do a double take, haven't seen true old school cars getting front cover love on the tuner mags in a long time! congrats very beautiful car maybe someday my car will reach that status.
  22. Sounds like a plan, I'm running a stock L28 out of a ZX but I only get about 19mpg on the freeway probably has something to do with it running pig rich and burning oil though.
