There is an engine called a polymotor. Its a 4 cylinder 4 valve headed engine that was designed for speedway work I think. The 2.0 lt version made 300 bhp on methanol at reasonably low revs. From what I remember it was ceramic with c/fiber bits as well. Came in about 20kg lighter then a bdh cosworth if I remember correctly.

Jon's right. There are toyota turbo diesels that will bolt in there. I had a landcruser parado as a co. car for a while with a 3l turbo diesel in it. It moved along nicely for a heavyer the 2000kg truck. We have some pretty large hills ( some may call them mountains) around here and I used to love the way you could leave it 5 th gear and blast up the hills at 140kph. They are better now with common rail fuel systems and intercoolers. I wouldnt touch the VW.

My first welder was a henrob. I seem welded my race car with the damn thing. After that I bought a mig. Much happyer now. The local distrubuter of the henrob offered classes so i took soom. I could do some neat stuff with his set up but I never seemed to get mine to function the same way which frustrated the hell out of me. It might have been that at home i was always working on rusty old cars instead of new metal. I am a hell of a lot faster with a mig and get less warping. Mind you, I am not a good welder.

I had a similar thing happen when making the front end for my corolla. Took weeks to dry and then stuck in the mold. I use the same resin with a new batch of mekp and it happened again. Now I dont buy resin form that shop! I guess thay dont sell enough of it and it stay's on the shelf to long. So the lesson I lernt was to deal with the big shops and get a fresh brew. This means getting it shiped in where I live.

You can run more rear brake bias in the wet becuase you dont have as much forward weight transfer when wet. This means you will then be locking up the rears in the dry. Always a compromise. You choose.

Speedracer,
When i was a kid in Atlanta I used to go to a summer camp called tellico Mt camp. Very pretty part of the world and some rather nice twisty roads if i remember correctlly. My Dads side of the family are all from tenn. around Sweetwater. and the trystate area around johnson city. I visited about two years ago and he took me to a vally called Haynes vally (our last name) where we found old grave sites with Haynes' in them back to the early 1800's. Kind of cool.
Anyway, I now live in New Zealand (have done for 24 years)but have always had a soft spot for Tenn. The people that we meet in our few weeks of traveling were nice and always seemed to be interested in where were from and how we ended up in tenn. It was nice. In other parts of the states Cal. in particular people just wouldnt give you the time of day.

Bugger, Just lost 15 mins of typing.

This is the nose cone I have made. If you look around my photos you will see the undertray thats attached to it. It runs flush from the front of the nose cone to the engine crossmember . Its made out of two layers of glass with a foam core and two more layer on top of that. Very light, stiff and strong.

The car is still in paint jail. Spot primeing and sanding when ever I can get to it for the last month. Work and a new addition to the family have really cut back on zeddy time.

Took some photos yesterday.

The car now has 3 coats of spray putty and we are ready to block it back. The colour will be a deep burgandy red, Grab a good bottle of pinot noir and add some flake to it and thats about the colour. It has taken 3 years to get to this stage. The end seems in sight. I realize that this thread is about aerodynamics, the photos will explain all.

A local engineer has been building vh45 to toyota supra trans down this way for a while. I think he uses hydrualic through out bearings though. I could get a price if you were intereseted, shipping would probably kill it though.

They are using these motor a lot in speedway cars down here now. The company builing my SBC does a lot of them and he said his best engine was 525 hp at the crank. This is a na engine on a 4 barrel carb. Aparently they raise the ports a bit but have to do a lot of work on the valve train to get them to work at high revs.

Well I havent pulled out any photos for a while. This is my take on aero mods. I dont have any recent ones but the hood is now vented before the struts to benifit from the low pressure there. I am just about to put the final undercoat on and sand it all back this weekend hopefully. The under tray goes as far back as the steering rack and the rear "diffuser" picks up on the angle of the petrol tank so I had to cut out some of the rear valence (spelling ) to get it all to fit.

About 12-13 years ago I saw a really nice 240 with a 308 holden in it in a street machine mag. Looked like a nice conversion. I think the holden 308 is a lot lighter then the sbc and with late model heads and injection the can be turned into a nice engine with a lot of power. It would probably be more costly then the chev but dont discount it.

Those look mighty fine, Joel. Are you going to sell your wheel spacer adapters. I am interested if they are from standard to 5 * 4.5.

Joel. Am I reading this correctly? Are you going to sell your spacer adapters? I need some 4 stud to 5 stud 4.5 inch adapters. Need to be at least 36 mm.
BTW. I have a set of 10.5 cobra R's sitting next to me with 275/40/17's on them. Bugger all stretch. I think the tire size is just about spot on.

Nice two40. Engine specs are very similar to mine, cept mine is still apart. What did you use for headers? I still have to sort that out on mine.

J, If you want to get rid of your adapters let me know. I cant seen to get any 4 to 5 stud locally.

I would be interested in seeing some photo's as well. A resent wheel purchase has made flares neccesary for my 2+2 as well. I was wondering how ZG's would fit the rear of the 2+2. Its a different shape then the 2 seater.

The first thing that comes to mind is how much will the engine weigh and what do you want to put it in?

Some of these things have been gone through in the past. Early 300zx fits, some f body hubs fit, looks like 240sx's use the same bearings. I am really interested in other nissan brakes from imports. JDM to those on other shores.Do skyline brakes fit? what about the a31 chassis, RWD maxima, Luarel etc. Really need someone who is real familiar with the bearing biz. to jump in. Looking for a cheep 5 stud front option.

And while we are trying to get Ricks leftovers......... I could use some spacers like yours Rick. If you want to give them up can you let me know. I havent reallly been able to locate any on this side of the pacific and my Cobra R's should be here any day now.
Cheers, Douglas
P.s. Car is looking wicked btw.

You could use copper pipe. You can get bends fron a plumbing supply shop and its really easy to braze. I did one for my suzuki jeep. Works well.

Yellow is not really my thing, However "crome yellow" with the black highlights as you described them would be wicked. It would show of the other details of your ride. Nice work Btw. Look forward to seeing it move again.
