  1. Some more pics: Started cleaning up the engine, and finished putting all the trim and interior in. Fully operational and on the road now:

At some point I will pull the heads, intake and exhaust and paint them too. I used the same color as the body. I was going to use the correct green color, but decided on something a little different.

    Here is the engine before:

And after a few hours with the wire wheel and sandpaper and lots of elbow grease:

  2. you should see what a go-kart tire does...more lateral gs are applied to a go-kart tire, its pretty amazing, or look at a launch on a drag car.

Funny you should post that site:

    and # 7 is my yung'in

I've seen kart tires pop off the bead....no fun, esp. since they tend to do it at max G load.

  3. I had all the chrome on my 55 done here in CA (Verne's) and it cost $1000.00

That was for a lot of chrome:

    front bumper: 6 pieces

trim under the headlamps: 2 pieces

hood leading edge trim: 1 piece

    Headlight trim rings: 2 pieces

    Hood wings: 1 piece

    Rear Bumper: 3 pieces

As you can see, a lot of chrome to do, and the pieces were not in good shape to begin with.
