  1. Seafoam is not a cure all....

Absolutely correct...there are no 'cures in a bottle'. Sea Foam, or Techron (the only ones that work well AFAIK), should be used as a regular maintenance type thing. If you use it every 10k miles or so, there shouldn't be enough crud built up to cause an major issues.

  2. Autobots!: Transform! :lmao:

How many times have you bought something just to buy it cause it looked cool?:icon45:

Plenty.....but I knew 'why' I was buying it and what I would use it for. :lmao:

Just ribbin' ya man! I have been told that I have a "gauge fettish" by someone on this board. I like to know what is going on with all the systems when I am driving, although I have never felt the need to install a vac gauge...

Been wanting to order this for ages, but something has been holding me back....now I know what it was!!

  4. I have Farmers ins. on my house and all my vehicles. I had agreed value coverage on the Z for $20k. It was still a very cheap premium. When the Z had its dance with the Z28, it destroyed the custom rear panel. Farmers didn't even bat an eye....I took it to my neighbors bodyshop, and it was fixed...no getting multiple quotes or anything. My premium didn't even go up.

I will stay with farmers because of the excellent treatment I received!!

When I initially insured it, I just sent my agent a link to my website. it had pictures and all the mods I had done. No problems at all......

  5. From my experience having stuff freighted overseas, is that you have to have a business account with the shipper (excl. UPS, FedEx, DHL), otherwise they will not accept the shipment. Something to do with new Homeland Security rules. I tried to ship some parts to my Dad in S. Africa, and had to use USPS in the end. I live within spitting distance of the Cargo terminals at LAX, so I figured it would be easy....drive over, drop the box, leave.....I tried them all, even consolidators!!!

  6. Jeff, have a look here: http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com

I have been to their shop and spoken to them a few times. They seem to be a class act and have a good rep in the industry. The tranny came in several cars in the mid to late 80s, and early 90s IIRC, Buicks, OLds and Pontiac full size cars and wagons. Most have a 'universal' belhousing that will fit the SBC. Do a google search to find the exact cars. I pulled one out of a Regal Wagon IIRC. Obviously the ideal donor would be the GNX as it was built the strongest from the factory, but since you would likely need to have it built anyways, you may as well order one from above.

  7. At times, I think I would have been more productive with others around since I'm prone to long periods of staring at a particular problem on the car and thinking about the possibilities. Having others around to brainstorm is helpful.

I agree. I spend a LOT of time looking at a problem before I actually tackle it. Not sure if it is being dilligent, or procrastinating......In my case it's 70% thinking and 10% fabricating, then 20% reworking the original fabrication.

I have found often that my best results are when I just start building without thinking about it....

  8. On the other hand, {playing Devil's advocate here}, the older guys maybe should get the better work/jobs as they have already "put in their time" with the crappy stuff.....kinda climbing the corporate ladder type deal. I don't think anyone should expect to be handed the caviar when they are the "newer guy".

If I were the "older" guy and the "good" work was handed to the "younger" guys, I would certainly raise holy hell!

Hopefully you are not moving back to the bottom of the ladder by moving shops.
