  1. I always love an opportunity to go to the track, but note that Saturday nights at MCR is not a test and tune night. They race for points and there are a lot of classes. This means fewer passes down the track, a lot more waiting, and more money. The better idea would be to have a 'Z' track night on Friday night, stay the night and attend ZAttack Saturday. Friday night there is much more opportunity on the track and there are still some elimination races for fun and trophies. There is even a Gamblers race for a pot.
  2. I relocated the steering shaft to make room for long tube 1 3/4" primary tube headers and wanted to share the results through a few pictures. 3/4" shaft support bearing, 3/4" shaft, 3/4" smooth wall u-joint, and a 19/32 drill bit were all that was needed. I should have ample clearance for any header on this side of the car. The passenger side is now the only concern.
  3. After a lot of work, I have finally got a cowl hood installed on my 280Z and wanted to share the results. Note: this hood is not a bolt on. Modifications were made to the front and rear of the scoop (personal preference), the front of the scoop was cut out, all four corners and the rear/back edge were glassed and shaped for improved body lines. The bracket attachment tabs were drilled, cut and spacers used to center the hood. I also cut material from the rear cross brace and filled with expandable insulation to add strength. I cut the material for a cleaner look and improved opening for cowl induction airflow. A lot of hours sanding, cutting and shaping gave me the rusults in the post. The paint is a brushed flat black from a 'rattle' can. The hood was purchased from Robert through 280Zone@cox.net
  4. Team Zleep, I posted in another thread about the hood I have. You can see it on Nashville, Craigs List. I also have a steel headlight bucket. It has been repaired in the past, but is in great condition. I can place it on Craigs List with pictures if you are still in need of one. Thanks.
  5. McMaster Carr - search shaft collars (two piece) Many choices I selected the steel type and installed it behind the brass washer and the inner tie rod on both sides of the rack. Very easy and works great. Good luck.
  6. Simply pull the steering rack boot back on both sides and install a two piece clamp collar around the rack at both ends. This will limit the amount of rack movement and therefore reduce the turn angle. You can do both sides in about 10 minutes. Good luck.
