  1. Have not been able to get a quote from them. I tried both an on-line request at jet-hot.com, and telephone call to a local authorized dealer.
  2. My IC (Isuzu) has inlet & outlet on opposite sides, requiring me to run tubing ACROSS the radiator, between the top of the fan and the top radiator hose. Can I run 2.5" tubing here if I install the Dodge Caravan fan? Would still like to know if the tubing can be run this way using a Ford Taurus fan, as I like the use of a 2-speed fan.
  3. I want to run an electric fan instead of the stock fan. Right now I have no fan on and the stock radiator, so there is plenty space for the tubing. But what type electric fan can I use and still use IC piping.
  4. My 82 280ZXT has a stock radiator. I replaced the stock fan with an electric flex-a-lite low profile one, but it has already lost a blade in each fan, causing heavy vibration. Instead of replacing the flex-a-lite fan blades I am thinking of installing a different electric fan. The fan must allow me to run 2.5" IC piping across. Since the Taurus 2-speed fan is 17" high it seems like there will not be enough clearance to run the IC tubing . Has anyone run IC tubing with the Ford Taurus 2-speed fan in place? If I can't use the Ford Taurus, any other fan recommendations?
  5. Had a look at it over the W/E. If I can get the intake off this way it does not seem like I can replace it like this. 1) Gasket likely to be damaged either when pulling it up or forcing it down. 2) I am uncertain whether forcing it down would also and seat it properly. I think if I can get out the 4 bolts holding the horizontal heatshield, i.e. from the underside of the heatshield, then I can access the 4 bolts "holding" both the intake & exhaust. Checked my Haynes manual again. Nothing on the horizontal heatshield (only mentions a vertical heatshield). Anyone has any idea how best to get at these 4 bolts on the underside of the heatshield, whilst the engine is in the car?
  6. Thanks for the input Aarang. In and out it will be then, with grey 2000. Heatshield painted in high temp grey, and no wrap.
  7. I intend to Jet-Hot coat my 82 280ZXT manifold. Should I do both inside and out, or outside only?
  8. Anyone has a 2nd opinion on whether jet-hot coating the manifold will cause it to crack?
  9. I have a Nissan Service Manual and a Haynes. I have removed the J-Pipe but can't get to the 4 bolts on the underside of the heat-shield.
  10. I'm sure Nissan had a good reason for the fan and webbing, so if I have to keep the heatshield then I will. Talk about the work - it ain't easy being 60 and arthritis and all, and using a damn file on the N42. And it seems the real fun now begins - my engine is in a running car, I did not plan on taking it out, and it seems real difficult to switch the intake and exhaust without taking it to a shop.
  11. I do plan on retaining the PCV valve so I will tap the heatshield mount boss. I did not plan on installing the heatshield, neither on running the cooling fan for the injectors. Instead, I intend to jet-coat the exhaust manifold, and also wrap it. Would this compensate enough so that the injectors would not overheat? Also, I notice a protrusion inside each runner at the injector end - one of the screws for the injector holder. Should I grind this down?
  12. Thanks! I don't plan on using the heat shield
  13. OK. The new port is to be located 2" forward of the present PCV port, closer to the TB. Do I just drill and tap in the new location? Is it thick enough to get enough thread for the PCV to hold firm? Or do I need to have something welded to increase the thickness?
  14. I am modifying a non-egr N42 intake to install on my 82 280ZXT. Need to tap new PCV port on bottom of intake, since the original port is in the way of the turbo. Since the wall of the intake seems thin, is there a recommended position to tap this new port?
  15. I have searched. I ALWAYS search. They only thing I found is a bit difficult to understand - why some of the experienced ones always presume a newbie like me did not search. I don't mean this to anyone personal, but I think I need to say it. I have 2 Z's - 82 ZXT and 83 ZX. I do all the work on them - including timing, and tappet clearance - except welding. I am not a mechanic but like someone on the forum says: it ain't yours if you did not do it! I search all the forums - even supramania! Got a 7" touchscreen with 2 x 5" Polks upfront under the dash (for good sound stage). A DVD R/W in the AC vents next to the heater controls - as if the car came with it - and a CarPC I ASSEMBLED in the pass rear fender. Maxima new style fusible links. Megasquirting my 82 ZXT, and Skyline round lights for the 83 ZX in the works. ALL BECAUSE I READ WHAT OTHERS HAVE DONE BEFORE ME! I have about 8 posts - means I only ask a stupid question because I would like help from those who have already done it - NOT BECAUSE I DID NOT SEARCH! Finally, I understand some people do jump on the forums without searching, and this can be frustrating to those who need to help. However, I want to think it is better to help a few lazy persons than to deny or otherwise frustrate the bulk of newbies just trying to learn from, and avoid, the screw-ups those before us learned from.
  16. I have a 1983 N/A ZX that I wanted to add a turbo to. It was suggested I should not do so because the N/A is a higher compression engine than the turbo one, and I could damage my engine. I am now looking to do a ZXT swap.
  17. I want to change the oilpump because the oil pressure is low. I myself was surprised when I learned the oilpump was different - could not understand why the difference because of the tranny. I got the part numbers out of Courtesy Nissan in Texas - they sell original Nissan parts at reasonable prices (certainly cheaper than in Albany). I also have a 1982 280ZXT with a B&W T5 gearbox, and I know many muscle cars use the T5. What I am not sure of is whether ANY B&W T5 gearbox/bellhousing will bolt up correctly to the ZXT engine - I want to avoid investing in a gearbox only to find it will not bolt up correctly (especially since I am an office-type but prefer to do my own Z work where possible)
  18. I am installing a 1981 280 ZX turbo engine in my 1983 NA 280ZX. Apparently the 1981 ZXT only comes with an automatic tranny. What manual gearbox, bellhousing, and pressure plate can I use with this engine? (I live in Albany, NY. It is very difficult to find any 280 ZX in the junkyards here, but musclecars are here by the tons). I want to change the oil pump and was told the 1981 ZXT oilpump is different from the 1982. I was given Nissan part # 15010-S8000 for 1981 (with automatic tranny and oil cooler) and part # 15015-V0300 for 1982 (with manual gearbox). Since I want to use the 1981 engine with a manual gearbox, should I get the 1981 or 1982 oilpump? Thanks for your help
  19. Can I replace my 1983 NA 280ZX NA engine, manual gearbox, with a 1981 280ZXT turbo engine, which only came with an automatic transmission? Would my NA gearbox be able to handle the turbo engine adequately, or would I damage it?
  20. Does anyone have (or know where I can get) fuel map and other configuration data for MSII PCB 3.0 suitable for my setup (or something similiar)? That would give me a good start NPR intercooler with 2.5" piping, 2.5" downpipe into 3" freelow exhaust, Walbro 255 fuel pump, 420 injectors, and rebuilt T3/T4, all on STOCK INTERNALS of an 82 ZXT
  21. Thanks everyone! MS it is! I thought as much; just wanted professional confirmation!
