Any Hybridz guys out in Wyoming or northern Colorado?
JoeinCA replied to JoeinCA's topic in Non Tech Board
well... i guess there arent any hybridZers out there then... hmm bummer. Joe -
Lol... I said modestly riced out because he had 17 inch rims (4 of them! lol) and there were only 2 little stickers on the windows. I dont know if the car was stock beyond that, I couldnt hear anything over my v8... I'm not even getting WOT... Yeah, you really cant expect much out of a rice boy. I think it is funny that he is now probably going to go around telling all of his friends that he wasted a Z car... It really isnt even worth showing them up... it is just extremely hard to fight the temptation. Nic: He didnt have V-TEK!? did he? 'cuz iffen he did, you woulda hadda bow DOWN! tada HONDUH POWAH Joe

I was returning home form my extremely uneventful trip to get the pizzas, when this modestly riced out civic appears in my rearview mirror... I see him punch it and begin his flyby manuever... I let him fly past me and get about 10 car length on me before i punch it. The Z downshifts and begins to give that beautiful V8 roar. I close the gap faster than you can say V-tec power. Like a precision machine the Z matches his acceleration for a moment , then i pull back and slam the gas pedal to pop the secondarie's open (which were LATE) and leap ahead by about 3 car lengths and i shut the run down. I had already handed him his smug face back in a little brown lunch bag marked "mommas precious little baby". We come to the next stop sign and i take off smooth, not racing him at all. I look in the mirror and see him letting the gap lengthen, then punch it in another attempted fly-by manuever, I repeat the same scene as before, but instead of just flying by i got 1/2 a length on him and shifted to neutral (the speed was getting stupid) . He swerves in front of me and proudly give me a one finger salute... a**hole. I handed it to him, and showed him up not once, not twice, but three times. And then he has the audacity to give me the finger? No respect... Sore losers suck. Joe

hehe... you will have to teach your kids a couple of key phrases though, like: BLING BLING NIGGAH! and WHERE MAH BIZZLES AT NIZZLE? I'll remember your dental tip if i ever knock my teeth out... Joe
-
I like the organ donor idea..... A buddy of mine has a 944... i have been telling him how nice it would be to see an LS1 in there. I bet you could find a ZX unibody with little rust... and swap the running gear. It isnt that much work... Joe

Alex... Thank you, i needed a good laugh... That was a lot better than the snake picture... I'll see you tomorrow, right? Joe

not very much in less than a week! besides... z cars dont like snow. 4wheel drive suburbans are built for it and it isnt my personal cash (because i have none!) I am going to go take a look at it as soon as i can, so that i can make sure it will make it to wyoming... I'll probably service the transmission, change the oil, and change the diff oil, put a new fuel filter on it, and then drive it to Wyoming. I hope that it is in good shape. It will cost around $1900 to rent a truck and trailer to go to Wyoming, and then another $1000 to come back with my stuff in 15-18 months.. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. terry: I transported my unibody in the back of a 14' U-haul... that was a whole lot of fun.... Joe

i wish i were that savage ... I found this though : http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=141779732&dealer_id=&car_year=1986&make=CHEV&distance=25&max_price=&model=CHEVSUB&end_year=1989&advcd_on=n&min_price=&address=94509&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1983&color=&cardist=0 i like it...

If i dont bring the car with me, it will feel like i have failed... Plus i am not sure that the transmission is going to live through the 1500 mile drive... I think i am going to have to convince my dad to buy an 80s suburban with a trailer hitch... That way i will have something to drive around in the snow, so i can leave my Z at the Wyotech campus, or in storage through the winter. I figure that i can convince him that i will need the truck one way or the other, and that i can sell it as soon as i am done in Wyoming. On top of that, i cant renew the registration in california because the vehicle is not smog legal here. The registration expires this month. I need to re-register it in Wyoming as soon as i get there. Does anyone know someone selling a cheap suburban or pickup? thanks, Joe

the glass wont fit? uh... 77 has the same body style as the 75... I think that it should fit right up. Joe

dont tell me you have ruined underwear in that picture..... Nice numbers, you probably have the only SBC Z in okinawa! Joe

Hmm.... a smaller bike would be good to start with i suppose... I started on the CX500, i taught myself how to ride it, and how to operate a clutch. I dont believe in buying something that i plan on replacing in a short period of time .... I like power, i cant help it. Just because you have power, doesnt mean you have to use it. right? Joe

Hey guys, I am about to move to Laramie Wyoming, and i was just seeing if there were any hybridz guys in that area. I think it would be cool to have some hybrid guys to hang out with, since i am not going to know anybody when i get there... Any paintballers? I want to find a good paintball field out there... so that i can spend more money that i dont have on things i dont need... Thanks, Joe

water cooled bikes will not overheat in traffic.... and they run cooler.. I would really reccomend starting off on a nice honda, a late model 750 or 1100 CC sabre can be picked up for a reasonable amount. They have shaft drive which is nice, very smooth, very reliable, minimal maintenance. Honda engines wont quit. I had a 78 CX500 that sat for 20 years, all i did was put some diesel in the cylinders for a couple days, changed the oil, filter, air filter, plugs, battery, and rebuilt the carbs; it started right up and ran great. The new yamahas are looking pretty good though.. Check out http://www.cycletrader.com Joe

Zbot I dont want to be a nuisance, but do you think you could come by my place and show me how to tune the carb this weekend? i can go buy a rebuild kit for it so that i can have all of the necessary gaskets... i have extra z stuff that you might like... for your trouble. if it isnt possible, i fully understand... it is asking alot.. thanks you very much, Joe

That would make her real happy... heh... When you dont have the hose on there, there is no pressure in the line, so all that happens is the fluid flows through, and air can get in at the fitting. My cluth was the only thing that i have successfully bled more than once! (I have got to bleed my brakes again!) Joe
-
do you have the correct master cylinder for the slave? did you torque the flywheel bolts? bleed it with a hose on it submerged in brake fluid.... you dont want any air in the line. joe

What i have been doing instead of fixing oil leaks(stereo!!)

ok... it has been a while, i finally got around to simply mocking up the box that i want to build for my 6X9.. i only made 3 sides of it out of the 8 it will end up having. well here is a pic: Joe. -

Dream Garage input needed (reasonable please = )
JoeinCA replied to tannji's topic in Non Tech Board
you should have pegboard on the wall with hooks for your tools, make it nice, neat , and organized, then outline the tools with a red or black sharpie. then mask off the area inside of the sharpie mark and paint the whole deal black. that way you know that your tools are all where they should be. An overhead electric hoist that can go anywhere in the garage would be much nicer than having a conventional engine hoist in the corner. retractable extension cord setups next to you air outlets. thats all i have right now. Joe -
if you have to bleed it by yourself and you do not have a proper brake bleed can, or one way valve, you can get a 3-4 foot long 2X4 and push the pedal to the floor with it and wedge the seat against it, then go under the car and put a rubber hose to your bleed screw, run the hose to a jar with brake fluid in it, making sure the end of the hose is submerged. loosen the bleeder nut thingamabobber ( i love that word) then tighten it again. go into the car and release the seat, and 2X4. Then push the pedal down again with the 2X4 and the seat, loosen bleed nut, tighten, release pedal, engage pedal, loosen, tighten, release, engage.... a clear rubber hose works best, you will see the bubbles come out of the system. bleed it 'till it's clean and free of air. Joe.

I think you are dead on right about the cam. I was told the engine has an "RV" cam, or whatever the hell that is. I personally like to have numbers like lift and duration, but i couldnt complain too much, i got the engine and a TH350 dirt cheap. if i had the cash to spend, i would just put a 5 or 6 speed in. I like the t5 alot in my buddy's camaro. Zbot, I have very little hands on knowledge of carbs other than q jets and motorcycle carbs. I know that you need to go down a jet size for every 1000FT of elevation you gain. But i dont even know how to change the jets in my DP. I have the flat spot you are talking about on acceleration, the car loves 1/2 throttle to WOT when i stomp on it, but until 1/2 throttle it bogs. if i only had 3 grand, i could have a nice 6 speed and fuel injection. This 700r4 is annoying me, it's been nothing but problems...oh well... at least i left my clutch pedal in place but i'll have to move my vaccuum canister. I guess i'll have to wait and tune it in wyoming... unless you can help me get the correct jetting. thanks for your time, Joe

Unfortunately i dont have any friends.... with suitable pickup trucks. I think i may try to rent a nice big truck or SUV and a 4 wheel dolly, and see if i can take them one way, if not, then my friend probably could drive back... That may be the cheapest route... Joe

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone near me wouldn't mind coming by and helping me tune my carburetor. I have a Holley double pumper 750. ( i think) The carb just spews streams of raw fuel whenever the throttle moves (duh) i think that it is running too rich thought i dont notice any black smoke out of the tailpipe ... I am getting a bad stumble at low RPMS, and it does not seem to want idle smoothly under load unless i shift into nuetral and back into drive. I think that this may be due to a poorly adjusted TV on my 700R4. I think that the locking converter may be engaging itself in all gears, and is only disengaging when i shift. I am unsure on this though. I am going to have to tune the car for the elevation change that i am going to have, and if it is running too rich at this elevation, it is going to be WAY too rich at 7200 ft. So, if anyone has good hands on experience with this stuff and would like to give me a hand, it would be much appreciated. thanks for your time, Joe

yeah. prices to get to california are great. Prices to leave are sky high.
