Check out Pete paraska's car, I think that it is one of the best looking dark blue color i have ever seen. Audi Blue Mica i think pre 97. Another great color is a lighter blue that my malibu is painted, 89 nissan blue teal or something... i need to find the color code to be sure...

I just cut up a 77 280Z... i think that the best way to cut it would be to remove the rear windows, and cut from the apex of the window, straight back about an inch or two and then cut vertically through the body to meet the other cut. It may even be easier to weld like that. But dont take it from me, i have very limited welding experience... Joe

I thought that the blue wire may have been added later, But it is wrapped in the stock wiring harness... So, the red wire connects to the white wire, which is on the positive terminal? is that what you are confirming Cruez? Thanks again for all of your help, Joe

I ran a wire directly from the battery to the fuel pump, and it does work... On my car there is one Blue wire, that to me doesnt look like a stock wire, it's insulation is too good, and one red wire that comes from the efi harness.... hmmm on second thought i do have one more thing to check... so... which post is the white wire on? and am i correct to assume that the white wire connects to the red wire that is fitted with a fusible link? And then that pesky blue wire must be a ground... I'm going to go try hooking it up like that... hopefully that will solve the problem... But in my FSM it appears to be that the blue wire goes directly to the positive post, and the red wire also links to it Via fusible link? now i'm really confused.. Would someone be so kind as to verify some of this for me? thanks very much for your time Joe

Maybe so, but ive noticed that whenever something can go wrong, it will... it isnt murphy's fault, but you know how many people have a predilection to killing the messenger.

Just to let you know, I do have a FSM, but the wiring diagrams arent helping me out, i checked the FI relays and the dropping resistor, my connection to the air regulator is good, and i believe the connection to the AFM is good too... I'm a bit stumped...

Hey guys, I could use a little help in troubleshooting a little fuel pump problem that i have on my 77 280Z... I had to completely rebuild my car down to the unibody because of an accident... the car ran when i took it apart.. Anyways, i have everything hooked up, ( i believe) but when i turn the key to the on position the fuel pump doesnt run. nor does it kick on when i turn the engine over. I suspect that i am not getting power to the computer but i am unfamiliar with the power connections from the battery to the computer. I moved my battery to the back of the car and ran a positive lead to the starter and the ground to one of the bolts securing the starter to the tranny. The only thing that i can see isnt hooked up is a fusible link (red wire) that previously went to one of the battery terminals. i seem to remember the car running without it hooked up... but to be sure i turned the key to the no position and checked the link against a ground point and a positive point with no change... Does anyone have some advice to give? i'd like to get the thing running... thanks guys.

i am in the process of "restoring" my 77 280Z. I went down to a fabric store and picked up a bunch of black vinyl, and then i went to home depot and got some carpet for the rear deck... and some wood that i am using to build my own custom rear deck with stereo system... One thing that i have to say about re-covering and redesigning the interior... it is a pain in the butt, but well worth it. Get creative with the car you'll be much happier with it if it is a direct product of your own imagination.... Joe

hey, ive got an f54 block engine sitting on my side yard (on an engine stand) with a p79 head on it... it may be a bit cleaner on the inside.. if you'd like to see it let me know and i'll take some pictures of it for you... I'd let it go for $70-80 if you pick it up. Joe

i hit about 125-130 in my 77 280Z with an 81 zx 5-speed... and then i saw a friggin parking cone in the middle of the road... thats the last time i ever want to have to swerve at that speed... just about soiled myself.

My 77 280Z was a great little beater... until i tore it to pieces to replace the unibody.... paid $1500 for the car a couple years ago... put a 5-speed in and promptly slid into a curb. After replacing the stuff that was REALLY bent, i drove it for another 6 months until i decided that i was tired of the noise. The little beast has never given up on me though... Now i'm trying to pull it out of it's beater status though, i dumped about 1500 into it in the past 3 months... and it still needs work..

Len, heh,"and support mine." I love honesty... nothing negative implied... Joe

just a thought... check your FPR connection for corrosion, along with your AFM and throttle body plugs... Make sure that you dont have a "sticky" Air Flow Meter... I let my car sit for a while and when i went to start it up i had problems with fuel pressure because my airflow meter wasn't moving freely enough to let in air, or properly regulate fuel flow. just a thought. Joe

Ihad 2 dismantled Zs sitting in my driveway for about 3 months... My neighbors "love" me.... Wish i could say different about the police that were leaving all the notices about how illegal it is to work on your car on your own property... Oh well, i shouldnt have slid into that curb....

I certainly had a great time. Especially since i got to take a ride in Jumbo240z's car... It is definetly a very sweet, and very fast car. It was great to meet some of you guys and get to talk... oh, that reminds me i need to e-mail jumbo... Seeya later, Joe

Anyone who wants to come is welcome, the more the merrier. Hope you can make it Ron, Ive seen your car around town and would really like to see it in person... Randy, it's for the 23rd... Dan, yep, sommersville exit. Well, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone friday, have a goodnight all. Joe

Well, there are quite a few "ghetto" kids that live in the Deer Valley area and cause trouble at the Deer Valley plaza... Besides, it is alot easier to get to the Coffee Cavern In the Century Plaza, hopefully there wont be many non-z people there... If anyone can suggest a better place to meet... I dont think that Krispy Creme gets much business at 6:00 on friday night... And it is in the same area. I would say that the plans are pretty solid, i know that i will definitly be there, not in my Z though... I'll be driving my big blue 68 malibu (heh, that rhymes ).. I need to get some sleep though, so goodnight all, Joe
-
no... It is over by the new lowes... In the shopping center across from Krispy Cream(sp?)... I know what you mean about the deer valley area.... i live in the area and still dont feel all that comfortable there... Hopefully i will have at least one running vehicle by next week, my malibu decided not to start tonight.... grrrrr Have a nice day. Joe
-
Well, the general opinion seems to be that next friday would be best. So, next friday at starbucks in Pittsburg at about 6-6:30? Hopefully that doesnt conflict with commutes... Sorry for not being online for a few days, ive been a bit busy... Have a nice day, Joe

My speakers were in a small box in the back of my car... and right now my car isn't in one piece. I think i have seen your car around town though. I drove a 77 280Z that was the original gold color and had some really bad sun damage. no front bumper... ring a bell? I live in the deer valley area by the golf course, but i spend most of my time in the mira Vista hills area, ( by twin creeks apartments). Lightning- no partying on sunday? just take a few aspirin before you go to sleep (and some when you wake up, and again at lunch time...). heh.

There are two bolts on the bottom, one is sunken and one is exposed... Have a fun time with the fenders, Joe
-
I think it would be best to place it on a friday, saturday or sunday... around 6-7 P.M at... Coffee Carvern in the century plaza on the border of Antioch and Pittsburg? Just a suggestion... But i think we should meet next weekend.... the particulars should be decided by what is best for everyone that is involved. What is everyone's preference as far as the day of the week? Time of day? Anyone have a better idea for where to meet? Heh, maybe by next weekend i will have my Z back up and running (yeah right! )

you all have very good points... If anyone is interested in discussing the subject, feel free to e-mail me or....I may bring up the topic in another non-z forum and post a link? maybe i will do that later tonight.... Although even in another forum, it is still this group that would be disscussing politics, just on another board... doesnt really make sense. oh well.... have a nice day, Joe
