  1. Its mounted on the steering column its not all the way tight but its not just hanging loose. What do you mean where the switch barrel is? Are you saying where ever the key position is or is there more than one way to mount the switch in the barrel?

The off position cuts everything off when i turn it to "lock" the wheel midway between "off" and "lock" is where this problem occurs. Then once its in the "lock" position the starter stops but everything else stays on i can tell because the fuel pump comes back on as if it was in the "on" position right before you try to start it.

  2. I don't know what exactly went wrong but i replaced all my fuses in the car and it doesn't do it anymore. I have the ignition wired up like this.

240z 12v start signal @ relay pos86 > grounded @ relay pos85 > power from batt @ relay pos30 > Then from the 7m harness the starter wire to relay pos87. Its a 30/40amp relay. I did not do anything to the ignition switch itself. I have to find a new location for my target switches that open power to the coils and igniter. What you mentioned above seems like that is exactly whats happening with me but i do not not have a turbo timer installed.

  3. Okay just a few days ago i finished up my wiring for my 7m swap and i come back to the car a week later and tried to start it and had it running for 30secs then shut it down. Turned the key to the lock position and the pump came on and the motor started to turn over so i pulled the battery cable thinking wtf was that. I put the key in the off position and re connected the battery and started it and turned it off again to the lock position with the same result. Thinking that it was the ignition switch i changed it 3 times all with the same results. Anyone had this happen to them, or can suggest where i start? What would cause the ignition switch to feed power back into the system with the key in the lock position. Any help would be very appreciated.

  4. I'm not sure I understand this post...are you saying that the RHD Fairlady is still waiting for you and only you to buy it? And you do not know where I can or can't find one?? I created this post so people on the forum could give me pointers or help me in my search for a RHD Z, not to tell me they know where one is but that I can't get it...useless info to me

I'm saying that they are around but very hard to find, when you do find one keep quiet about it until its yours. I was just giving you a hard time man don't take it personal i'm just like that. But i would keep an eye out on craigslist, crazedlist and ebay, but only local cars. If its a state or so over and you really want one make the trip to get it or have it shipped. Also if you ever drive country roads take a peek into driveways as you pass by thats how i found the ones i know about.

  5. When i first start looking for a z i had 3 options, usa spec lhd 73 240z, jap spec rhd 81 280zx 2+2, and a jap spec rhd 71 240z. i chose the 73 because the other two were not running. After i put a hole in the 240z block i bought the rhd 280zx and put the motor into my 73 then sold the shell to a guy from sacramento i believe. The 71 rhd 240z is still were it has been and will be there until i buy it. But sorry i do not know where you cant find one.

  6. I have gotten better at welding but have yet to make new mounts. Once i get the engine running as best i can get it i will use the hoist to support the motor and re-make the mounts. That was my very first actual welding project/learning curve. As for the design of the mounts, they were done just to support the motor always with the intent on being re-made.

  7. I worked on the 240z w/7mgte and for some reason im not getting any power to or from the cps. I dont know if there should be either?? I have power to the coilpacks, ignitor, ecu and injectors. What controls power to the cps and if you know the exact wire color and location would get you a interwebz cookie. While cranking i get like .2v-.5v from the blue wire on the cps. Anyhelp would be really helpful. If i get it running i promise pure chaos tire shredding videos.

Also posted on supraforums and someone asked "Check the wiring for breaks and make sure the ecu is powering on"

    My response:

Ecu has power tested with test light and multimeter. At pin IGSW which from what i read is the power wire for the ecu. As for cracks in the wiring id have to unwrap the harness tomorrow and check.

  8. Okay i have been working on a engine swap for my 1973 Datsun 240z, the engine i'm using is from a 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo. I got the engine rebuilt and its ready to run kinda. I have been following this website as a wiring guide ( http://www.supracharged.com/tech/wiring/index.shtml ) and so far i have got all the wires listed and made my own harness for them. I got as far as getting the motor to turn over but not by key. I'm currently working on getting spark from the coils and ignitor. I have successfully shocked myself 4 times. I wanted to do this by myself and its hard asking for help but im getting tired of this and need some help. So anyone that can help me get this thing running before i drop it back into the car shoot me a PM. Will pay in beer, $$, or handshakes.

Engine is out of the car on a hoist but still able to turn over and be worked on i have most tools minus a multimeter that i just lost. Any questions post here or shoot me a pm.

Mods if in wrong section please move.

    Thanks, Marquise B.

  9. If i can make it out my driveway then yeah i might do it for a while till i decide what i want to do with the exhaust. Open dump external wastegate to come as well. Around here there are a lot of loud cars. Police don't really bother unless they are bored or you go to the other side of the city.

  10. Started a 7m swap wayy to long ago, couple months ago i bought a 06 zx6r that had me laggin on the z because i was having so much fun riding. I ride in the rain so that's not what got me back on the z. I just walked by the car and knew that it was time to get it going again. So this is where i'm at. Still a long way to go but i'm further than i was.

Pics: Random shots with no real work being done, Anyone wanna make 100$ wiring let me know! Also i know my garage is dirty.

  11. I just got myself a bike not to long ago, i took a friend with me to check it out that has been riding for 4 years and has went through a few bikes. Had him test ride it and i test rode it. 2006 zx6r (636). I looked for any and all parts that would be damaged in a crash, leaks, oil level and color, same things as a car sorta. I'm 200lbs 6'2 and its a little cramped but its not uncomfortable. Best advice everyone has given me is "Ride like your invisible"
