  1. Which kit did you use to do this. The only Nissan part I see is for the SR20
  2. This is what I did after I lost oil pressure at an autoX event. The number 5 rod bearing went and took out the entire engine. Granted the engine bottom end was old, but it can't hurt to have an extra 2 quarts of oil. [/img]
  3. Here is a post showing what you can gain NA by doing basic mods.http://www.z31performance.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17659 Sure you can get more HP out of a turbo maybe for less money, but then you wouldn't have that awesome sound system
  4. Thanks! Didn't do much differently for tuning. Still used NisTune, just had to change the timing, fuel maps, and K values to account for the increase in compression and the larger cam. I am planning on getting back on the dyno this month and playing with my cam gears to see what and where the power band goes by advancing/retarding the cam timing between 5*+/-. If it requires a separate tune for each setting then I will be able to load whichever tune matches the cam gear setting I am using. So far we have only tried 3* retard which produced 220/203 and 3* advance which sacrificed a HP up top but picked up about 10 RWTQ down low. The thing I really want to do is raise the rev limiter to see where peak HP rolls over. So far, as you can see in the dyno graph, it leveled off starting at about 5800 rpms and stayed there until 6800. It may roll over or may be that it needs more air to be able to produce more power. The next things I plan on working on is a better intake, custom headers, and a new exhaust system. That should allow me to get a bit more out of the engine. I guess the ultimate goal is 300 rwhp!!
  5. As was stated all Z31 na's and the 84-86 turbos use the same clutch. All the Z31 use the same master and slave cylinders. There is however a difference in the slave cylinder push rod used on the na's and early turbos and the 87-89 turbos. The 87-89 turbos use a shorter push rod which changes the free play in the clutch peddle if you use it on the earlier years. When you adjust the free play to the correct position, the piston will push out of the bore in the slave. My point is that if you use another clutch, you will have to check the piston travel on the slave cylinder to be sure it is the correct length.
  6. What other things did you do to get 220. I tried the Nismo cams, porting and polishing the head, gutted plenum and got to 170. Re did the engine this past off season. Raised the compression ratio, Isky cams along with the other stuff I had done and got 220 WHP with 203Ft lbs of torque I still think that there is more to be found with some tuning and work on the intake and exhaust Here is the car this year at a test & tune
  7. I got some at Napa. They can get what ever you want. The one's I got were M12 x 125 x 45.5
  8. For single use trial run enter the following for registration name: trial / email: trial Please let us know if you have dififculties downloading from this site I found this on the download page. I have been using NisTune since 2006. Matt is the best. You can't believe all the changes he has made to the software over this time. Also he is great at helping with any problems you might have. As more and more people use Nistune the forum will become better and beter. I was looking at the information on line today. The instructions have come along way from the days when we used to have to ask how to do everything and what we did helped develope the instructions. I tried Live edit with a romulator before Nistune. That was like trying to shoot baskets with a blindfold on compared to Nistune and map trace. It is by far the best bang for the buck that you can get for the Z31. Go to Z31 performance and check out the link. And don't be afraid to admit to having an N/A. There are several of us over there who expect to get more than 200WHP without a turbo.
  9. With the number of lookers and no responses, I am assuming that boring a VG30 to a VG33 is bull. How much can you safely bore out a VG30? So far I am seeing people going to 87.5mm to use Z32 pistons. Anyone gone farther than this? Thanks.
  10. I have heard that you can bore a VG30 out to VG33. Has anyone actually done this? Not interested in should be's or some guy did it. Thanks.
