  1. FYI "secretly" is the prefered method for stocking up on weaponry I stopped ordering from SG around the same time they began refusing to ship most gun related parts and components to California. Coincidence of course. I don't own/like guns......
  2. Good pick on the Sig P-226. Sig and HK are my favorite non-1911 style pistols. I prefer the ergonomics and controls of the HK, but the Sig has a better trigger. had I seen this thread earlier, I would have suggested the FN USA FNP-40 also: http://www.snipercountrypx.com/showproduct.aspx?productid=3442
  3. Oddly enough, I actually kind of like that car. The two styles blend together pretty well. I vote "More than Awesome".
  4. Wow, that looks amazing. My only change would be to fill in the areas under the headlights to make them a little more like the original sugar scoops.
  5. Finally got it out to the range again last weekend. It was too windy for shooting any decent 100 yard groups, my target was rocking a good 3" side to side. I did get some hits on a couple of steel plates I set up at around 550 yards though, until the wind got too bad for that too: I did get a couple of videos, but the wind was so bad that you can barely even hear the shot from the rifle, let alone the "Bink!" of the bullet echoing back a few seconds later. Next time out, if it's calm enough I'll try to set up for 800, maybe even 1000 yards out. Hopefully I'll get some better video next time as well.
  6. Tarantual Hawk, from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarantula_hawk We had these all over the mountains in Arizona where I grew up. They sounded like an angry B-17 to me as a kid. The "Usually not aggressive" blurb quoted above: Complete B.S. I've been chased by these things many, many times, both on foot and on a bicycle. You may not believe it, but a Murray 20" BMX bike will do the better part of mach 5 when powered by fear and adrenaline...... My worst sting was when I was about 7 or 8, from a hornet. I walked through a patch of clover in our front yard, barefoot, and the little sucker nailed me right in the arch of my foot. I just screamed and dropped to the ground like a sack of wet cement. I spent the rest of the summer patroling the yard wearing my home built bee suit (Paper sack over head, snow suit, gloves, and boots) killing every bee, wasp, or hornet I could find.
  7. Second pic no worky for me. It would be hard to beat the first pic though, the faces on the guys in the front row are priceless, especially the one with the blue tie. I'd imagine that his rectum is probably wearing a similar expression to his face at that point......
  8. Thanks for all the great feedback guys! Doc, I'm still waiting on that rusted out Z and engine block to show up......
  9. Good eye, the color I used is Magpul Flat Dark Earth, to blend in with the buttstock and pistol grip. In a rare moment of logic, I used google earth to help select the color to use. Probably a good 70% or more of the ground here in the southwest U.S. matches up very closely with the FDE color when veiwed from altitude. There's really no point to having the rifle blend in to surroundings out here, as if I'd be running covert ops out here or something, LOL. From a practical standpoint though, the lighter color soaks up much less heat when sitting in the sun than the original black color did. The surface is also much easier to clean now than the original manganese phosphate finish, dirt just wipes right off now.
  10. Some people meditiate or practice yoga to relax. Some people shoot steel plates at long range for relaxation. I tend to fall into the latter group. Technically speaking, I'm not exactly a civilian either since I am in the Navy, although this is my own personal rifle and not military issue. Like civilians in California, I have to follow the law to ensure it remains legal to own within the state. The magazine is limited to 10 rounds in capacity, and the magazine release must be manipulated using a tool to remove the mag from the rifle. Appearances aside, this rifle is no more dangerous than most semi automatic or even bolt action hunting rifles.
  11. I intended to use this just as a base coat for a more complex camouflage scheme, but the single color look is kinda growing on me. I should have painted it in a nice non threatening color, like Salmon, or perhaps some kind of Paisley pattern, to make it less evil looking. As it is now, clearly too evil for the peaceful utopia of California, Heh Heh Heh.....
  12. LOL. I'm pretty sure there is a law against that. If nothing else, I might end up on the local 10:00 news NY city mayor Bloomberg has banned the paint that I used, called DuraCoat, from his city for just that reason. In response, the company produced a new line of colors just for him : http://www.unitedarmsonline.com/Services/DuraCoat/bloomberg-colors.html

  14. Nice looking pistol. Is that Tannerite in the background? I gotta get me some of that stuff. The area where you are shooting looks almost identical to the scenery on Luke's planet in the first Star Wars movie..... I half expected to see a flaming Jawa corpse flying out of that explosion
  15. Wow! The wood on that stock looks amazing. You can definitely see the difference between "Old World Craftsmanship" on your rifle, and "Wartime Production" of mine. I suppose aesthetics takes a back seat when bombs are being dropped on the production factory
