  1. With a slide rule, GPS system, a length of sewer pipe, and enough black powder, you might be able to create a new shipping catagory for Ebay....
  2. They seem pretty solid to me too. Typically, I like to build up 1911's from <80% complete frame forgings, but most of the research I've done on that lately shows that it may not be a good idea to do in CA due to it possibly violating the "Approved Handguns Roster".... Enter the RIA 1911. It's on the list, and it's cheap too! Everything I've read about them says that they are built to correct GI specs for the 1911, so just about every aftermarket part should fit without too much trouble. These seem like a pretty decent platform for building a custom 1911 from, although the Les Baer/Ed Brown/Wilson Combat/etc. crowd will probably pooh pooh all over you for not shelling out $2000+ for a handgun.... I told myself I wasn't going to try to talk Aux into getting a .45 (They're not everyone's cup of tea I guess).... But seriously, Aux, you need to get a .45. Really.
  3. If the device looks like it could in any way be attached to a real firearm, I'd rather let someone else get caught with it. I'm pretty sure the silencer itself, regardless of what it is attached to is considered illegal without the proper BATF permit and tax stamp. Packing with cotton, probably not the best idea either as it will probably just light up like a tiki torch after a round or two. This is probably a better place to talk about silencers and related topics: http://www.silencertests.com/
  4. Good job! There's no way I can play guitar and sing at the same time like that, too much coordination required from my little primate brain. That, and my singing voice sounds like a Zebra trying to walk off a strangulated testicle.... You pull it off really well though What kind of amp/guitar combo are you using?
  5. Probably a good idea to get other guns now before you get a 1911, just for the sake of having a diverse collection if nothing else. Since I got into 1911's, I can't bring myself to buy anything else now, especially plastic framed guns without exposed hammers. However, the new HK45 is tempting.....
  6. Or an African Swallow, carrying a coconut by gripping the husk..........
  7. Anybody know how to do visual effects? How funny would it be to add in a 73 Yugo zooming past them just as that idiot's saying: "219 miles per hour...." Either that, or the Millenium Falcon.
  8. I've heard a lot of good things about the CZ75's, although I've never had a chance to shoot one. They have a pretty strong following among target shooters, like the 1911 and Glock. Here's a 1911 that's in the same price range as the Sigma: http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=8108844 And it's even approved for sale in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia too: http://certguns.doj.ca.gov (Search for "Armscor Precision")
  9. I haven't handled one of the newer Sigma pistols, but a friend of mine had one of the early production versions back in 98, that gun was total crap. It was reliable, yes, but accuracy was totally unacceptable. That was one of the first gen Sigma's though, the newer ones are supposed to be much better. The light rail on the front of it looks like it will only take lights/lasers made for the Sigma, it lacks the cross slots found on the standard picatinny rail most lights and lasers are made for. Personally, If I were buying a S&W auto pistol I'd go with the M&P in either .40 or .45 ACP. http://www.xdpistols.com/item.aspx?PID=67346
  10. I can't actually claim total credit for this one, someone on another forum found it and posted it. After watching the clip, I sat in stunned silence for a good 30 seconds. I seriously considered giving up the internet for good.... My favorite comment from the other forum was: "Holy crap. It puts the lotion on the skin!... It does what its told!... You dont know the hell i can bring you!...."
  11. Thanks! If I get too many more, I think the wife will start taking them to the Good Will store The Z I posted is mine, which in reality is mostly silver with spots of primer and a few rustoluem test patches. The Photoshop was done by Veritech Z, and has almooooooost convinced me to abandon my original plan to paint the car orange and instead paint the car up in VH stripes. Damn that guy I'll probably try a model first.... I grew up listening to Van Halen, my earliest memories of music are almost all Van Halen (along with lots of CCR) and like most guys the only reason I ever wanted to play guitar is because Eddie made it look and sound sooooo cool. As far as I'm concerned, theres only one way to do a Black/White or Red/Black/White paint job, and it requires lots and lots of masking tape
  12. Just for laughs, weld a padeye to the top of it and hook it up to the tetherball pole at the nearest school
  13. Snapping fingers while waving hand from side to side: "OH NO YOU DID-INT!"
  14. If you look carefully, you can even see some small VH logos on the porsche car. I'm seriously considering this paint for my Z, after my last guitar project : http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=126948
  15. The culmination of this thread :http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=126948
  16. I'm sure you've already heard this, but drink some water. Then drink some more. Then have another bottle of water just to be sure Dehydration totally sucks, and by the time you notice the symptoms in an environment like that, you're already probably pretty close to passing out. I just finished up a deployment to Kuwait, and averaged about 1 to 1-1/2 gallons of water a day. I'd pee maybe twice the whole day, everything else came out as sweat. Good times..... I wouldn't call the camel spiders harmless, but they are non venomous at least. They are actually quite an aggressive predator, and will bite, er... pinch, actually. Those massive Fang/Jaw/Mandible things are actually pinchers, like a scorpion. During the daylight, they will follow you to try to stay out of the sun, in your shadow, giving the impression that they are chasing you.... Like everyone else has said, keep your head down, and get back in one non-bleeding piece. Even in supposedly "safe" areas in the rear, the poop can still hit the fan. Mike
  17. Whoa.... VeritechZ, That looks bad ass! I pretty much have to do it now Thanks for the photoshop!
  18. LOL You of all people should understand how tempting it is for me to paint one of the Z's like this. How cool would that be?
  19. In the process of disecting the neck pickup to add the top layer of phenolic laminate, I managed to accidently slice into the 42 gauge windings of the pickup. Not a big deal, it's not even wired for sound anyway, but there was wire everywhere. I ended up removing all of the copper wire and rewinding by hand with copper colored thread..... The $25k Fender replica for comparison: I was "This close" to getting the $25,000 version..... Dodged that bullet Mike
