  1. i have a pretty stock 81 280zxt. it has an msa adjustable boost controller, adjustable pop off valve and other than that its stock. i would like to make around 300rwhp. besides a good intercooler and more boost, what will it take to get there? injectors, t-body, bigger turbo? will the stock ecu and afm be able to support the hp increase? thanks for the help.

  2. no, there actual lowering springs. im not sure of the brand. to be honest the last zx i owned had stock springs that i cut and it rode like a cadillac. i plan to do the same thing with this car. take out the rough riding springs and swap in a stock set with a coil cut off em. i hate to do this but i cant stand driving a car that rides rough.

  3. i just bought a 1981 280zxt. drove it home an noticed it rode very rough. so i go out and get some kyb gas-adjust front and rear struts. when pulling off the struts i notice i have some kinda lowering springs. i looked around the coils trying to find a brand name but found nothing. so i install the new struts and springs, now it rides slightly better, but still a little rough. i had performance springs in my 240z with the same struts and it rode fine. is this somthing im just gona have to live with?

  4. picked up an 81 zxt last night. runs great but has an auto trans. i plan to swap it out for a 5speed, and wondered if the dash needs to be removed to swap the petals? i know i converted a 240z a few years back and i had to take out the dash in order to remove the petals. hope its not the same with the zx. any info is appreciated. thanks jim

  5. I have a chance to get a nice z31. but its automatic, and i hate automatics. i know it could be done, but wondered how hard it would be to actually do the auto to 5 speed swap in an 87 300zx? ive done it in a 240z and had to pull the dash to swap the petal assembly. hope its not the same in a z31, or ill be passing on the deal!

  6. tim, i would expect them to get that fixed in a relativley short period of time. are they planning to remove that panel and make a new one? i would expect them to just pull the dent out as much as possible then repair all imperfections. blending the paint shouldent be too bad either. should be a speedy repair. then again, if they pull the rear panle off it might be a while..

  7. OK, Helped a freind install toyota 4x4 calipers on the front of his z 6-8 months ago. it has pretty much sat in his garage since then. we installed the 4x4 toyota calipers, 300zx rotors, 280zx master cylinder, and 280z power booster. everything was new. cant get a decent brake pressure, idle surges when the brake is pressed in and this thing has got me totally stumped! i dont know what else to do. it has no air in the lines since i have bled them more than 30 times. help! i did notice that when i tired to bleed the master cylinder, the front reservior bled no fluid when the bleeder was open and the res was full of fluid. could this be the problem? im lost here. wish we had left em stock!

  8. thanks guys, tim is gona be up in my area this week so ill borrow his book from him and copy everything i may need. i had my own book, but i moved once and cant find it anywhere. as far as photo copying the mount pages and using them as templates, what was the problem? i have a photocopier here at my house, and it makes exact replicas of what it copies. i dont see a problem, but i can be wrong?

  9. Im wanting to make my motor mounts and get some odds and ends ready to go for my 240z/350 project. i have a freind who will make em for free if i had the directions from the jrt book. i know i should just buy it, but i dont really need the whole book (i had a copy a couple years ago and misplaced it). ive been on hybridz for years now and am NOT a new member, somthing happened to my post count when the site was changed over. im trust worthy and would return your book in the same condition. thanks for any help. jim
