  1. My 240z came with these recaro seats I believe they came from a Shiro 300zx and the driver seat has some rips in the grey part on the back and bottom otherwise the black parts are good and the passenger seat is almost perfect. I want to keep them as stock looking as possible. I'm hoping you guys might know where I can get some replacement oem material or replacement covers. Any help would be great thanks in advance! Geoff
  2. well ive started working on the l28et wiring harness. the guy that owned it before my buddy hacked it pretty good and my friend got another 83 harness from the junkyard so with the help of the write up here on hybridz i am working on it. i still have plenty of other stuff to do like getting the fuel system installed before i can try to run it but since i have all the parts i figured i would start with the engine harness.
  3. Here's my new project a 73 240 with alot of goodies. The story of this Z is a pretty cool one. I had a chance to buy this car from my uncle who is a low volume dealer and Z fan but he wouldn't sell it to me saying that there was to much work in it for me, I was pissed lol! So I turned my friend on to it and he bought it, I thought well at least I'll get to drive it! Anyway he did alot of work to it but never got a chance to finish. Fast forward 6 years and he had to move from the house he lived in and couldn't take the Z sooo he GAVE it to me! I couldn't be happier! It is my dream car and I have lots of work to do but it comes with some awesome gear and I can't wait to get it running! So here's some pics. I have alot of questions about the fuel system and the L28ET but this isn't my first Z I had a 76 that I daily drove for 10 years and took to some track events. Well take a look and see what you think. Here's the scoop- 83 L28ET-completely rebuilt never ran on gas but did run on starting fluid 83 harness 83 ecu coilovers and 5 way shocks 18" wheels with adapters Toyota front brakes 240sx rear discs t5 tranny plastic fuel cell for now I'll get something else after I get it running aeromotive fuel pump and a few other things I didn't take any pics of the interior but I wanted to ask about these seats. My friend said they are from the schiro(probably not written right lol) edition 300Z but the driver side center of the seat is ripped and I want to just replace the torn parts. and here are all the fuel system parts that came with it. I've been researching how to install this stuff but I still have questions and I'll post them in the fuel delivery section. Well I hope you all will see it hauling butt around sandiego very soon.
  4. Are you sure you have spark? The only reason I ask is on my 280 I had a weird problem inside the distributor where it basically ate it self we checked everything else and found nothing accept no spark, we dug into the dissy and found out that there was play in the shaft and it was slowly grinding the magnets under the rotor. Edit ** oh but then again you did say it started on starting fluid lol
  5. Sold my 76 280z today looking forward to start my new build a 73 240z L28ET!

  6. Hey man, it ended up being bad connections to my injectors. I took the fuel rail off the intake manifold and tested each injector with a 9V battery - I had two injectors that the pins were so corroded I couldn't get them to fire. I also used some christmas tree lights and placed them in the female side of the injector connector to find out if I was getting signals to the injectors. Good ...

  7. You should get a multimeter or some kind of fuse protected test light or even a powerprobe, with it you can test switches and easily figure out if they switch ground or 12v and quickly identify the wires the switch uses. If you know how standard bosch style relays work you can mock up circuits and test the outputs to be sure you get what you want. Buy a box of 1a fuses and use them to test your circuits to be sure it works the way it should, it's best to find a mistake with a cheap fuse than to ruin some other components.
  8. I would love to see this happen and the sides too but as others have mentioned even just the front and rear windshields would take alot trials to make sure they don't leak. The interior wouldn't take much to fix the looks. For the side windows forget about it but I would love to see someone do it!
  9. Did you find a solution? I have the same problem in my 73 also swapping in an 83 L28ET I had to stop working on this car till later this month but I saw this thread and thought I would see what the verdict was.
  10. More posts coming soon as I get rid of my 76 280z and dive into my new project 73 240z with half of a L28ET swap. Stay tuned lol.

  11. This thread is extremely light on pictures I was really hoping to see some of those fiberglass door panels! Please post pics!
  12. Yeah he probably popped the bumper shock too so it would hug the body. Pretty nice!
  13. Yeah Its the back of the head core plug. Tough one. I think if I can get it out I'll try the socket, wood and pry bar idea, I was also looking at drilling a hole in the fire wall. Thanks for the ideas!
  14. So I started and ran my 76 280z after it sitting for 2 years and let it run for 15 minutes and when I came back to it I heard the sound of air whooshing from the engine bay turned off the engine let it cool and started looking around and found there was no water in the radiator so I put water in and started it again this time water was pouring out of the head core plug. Can I replace this core plug in the car? Are the rubber plugs an option? I did search for answers about this and only came up with 2 posts about core plugs but not much help with this particular one. I honestly don't mind if this is somewhat of a bandaid for now I just need to get it running asap to get a smog I have worn out my welcome where the car has been sitting all this time and I have to get it back on the road. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Geoff
  15. Sounds good to me please keep me updated with pics I definitely want to see the end result!
  16. That looks pretty good. What are you planning to do with the filler? I have the same set up planned and was searching to see how people hook the filler up.
