  1. Thanks guys. I can't tell you how excited I am. SOOOOON!
  2. OK guys. I have an update. We have the driveshaft in so we set it down and hung the doors. It goes to National Speed in Wilmington today to be dyno tuned and to have the exhaust manifold made at Momentum. When I saw these photos, I about cried. It's been so long, but I'm really loving how she's looking. I hope you enjoy...
  3. That's totally correct. I wasn't thinking. Late at night when I responded. I have Brian Crower 264/264 cams for an S14 (no variable timing). Thanks for that. Don't worry about a thread jack, man! It's all good!
  4. I'm just going to show you some pics. You can see how low the engine is by the hood latch. The first three pics are just of the manifold that I can't use. It's so gorgeous. As for the S15, I'm still not running yet so I can't help you. However, the speed shop that built the engine didn't complain about it at all. Oh, and in the pics, I still have the old freeze plugs in and the old crank pulley. Both have since been remedied. Be sure to see that not only is the turbo putting the piping into the tower, but the bypass into where the steering shaft would be. Any thoughts? Is everyone else seeing this like we did?
  5. Brake line fasteners and bolts, if I know what you're asking about, actually are the originals that have been restored. If I'm not answering your question and you're sure of it, give me another stab at understanding which parts you are talking about.
  6. Thanks much, rusty! I'm on rennlist, yeah. Not really on Pelican at all. Most of the time though, I'm on 6speedonline or teamspeed.
  7. Lines: http://www.newoldstockmotorsports.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=1&class_1=1&my_type_id=1&class_2=4 Clamps were blasted and nickel plated... restored. Here's an update: The car will be going to National Speed in Wilmington to be final tuned. It will be transported without the hood, fenders, or interior, so nothing can get hurt along the way. The dash is in though. The brake system is now fully run. This is the proportioning valve that will come up in the center console. I'll make it look "period correct" later. As much as possible has been hidden... A custom bracket was made to hide the AEM standalone tight under the dash. And all the wiring is now ready for the engine.
  8. I've been in Germany and just landed. I'll find out the current status and let you guys know asap. I don't think it will be ready for the show in Myrtle Beach this weekend though. We lost two weeks or so waiting on stainless fittings for my brake/clutch/fuel lines. Thanks for all the kindness, fellas!
  9. lowrider, It was great to see you Saturday! You're a cool guy and it was great to see your car. Till next time! Jared
  10. lowrider, I really like your Z. And I'm moving to Knoxville in 6 weeks or so. You should come to Cars and Coffee at European Auto Garage this Saturday. It's on Sherway, a bit behind Harper's Porsche. My 911 is there at their shop, and I'll either bring the A3 or LR3 (no biggie either way). There's always some amazing cars there, and it doesn't matter if they are Euro or not. Take care, Jared
  11. jcullop@vpimarketing.com. No worries. get them to me and I've got you covered.

  12. whats ur email and ill email them to you and you can post them if its not too much trouble

  13. Don't work, bro. You should post them on photobucket, or something like that.
  14. Rock on. I will try to offer a positive perspective on this. Being also in the Porsche world, when I go to a show and talk to all the guys with the $100k sixties 911s, I tell them that I have the 240Z and they all go gaga over them. I think that real car collectors will be on these soon. Just my thoughts too.
  15. Here's another place where I didn't want a perfect resto, but something better. I really studied bedliner material. That's right. Like Rhino-Liner. They take tints very well. They don't scuff up either. So, we got some of that, blended it a bit smoother than normal, got it to exactly match the color, and then applied it. Before doing this, as you see in pics, we totally perfected the underside of the car, then rustproofed it all. This stuff is a sealer and really seems to be a perfect solution. I am planning on putting a lift in my garage, and think that this is a good choice for the undertray because it will be so easy to clean to look as sharp as it does now. The floorpans (on the inside) are a similar substance called Lizard Skin. We tinted it too. It's a really good sound deadener and insulator. I love it.
  16. All window rubber was initially ordered from Motorsport Auto. Their kit was incomplete and sucked. I sent it back. We then searched high and low and found some perfect, never opened, new-old-stock (NOS) Datsun stuff from a man who intended to restore his a LONG time ago. It was all in his garage. Awesome. He doesn't have any more. I bought everything. Some of this even included, in DATSUN BOXES, stainless window trim. Yep. I paid him all that he asked for it. $250, I believe. Was worth ten times that to me. So it's all new, soft, Datsun stuff. Nothing was fixed. Sorry not to have better news for you. I just suggest searching your ass off... and prayer!
  17. Exactly. And (I'm really taking a step out here) it looks like pop culture might be going back in a nuevo-80s fashion sometime. For easy example: Kanye West is now growing his hair slightly out, wearing big "Oakley Frogskin" sunglasses and Bill Cosby-esque sweaters. Really. Then you have musicians going huge like Sam Sparro with a Duran Duran feel. If this is the case, built on an already strong platform of JDM coolness, I could see 240Z stock going up substantially. Nothing has this style that is made right now. Even (or especially, depending on how you look at it) the retro American cars don't do it. I seriously predict (and, as I said in this post, I buy and sell for profit too) that 70s cars will get popular soon. I'd love to have a badass Pontiac Bandit ala Burt.
  18. Gollum, Fully respecting your opinion here. Just wanted to say that I disagree with you (on it not ever being a Mustang, or whatever). Mustangs are MUCH cheaper to restore, and don't have near the rust issues of the 240Z. However, the Z is the first Japanese sports car ever to go big and open the door for the rest (Mustang has a similar claim, I know). I foresee more of a chance than you in these cars bringing Mustang money in a decade or so. It's not uncommon for a really nice 70-72 to bring $25k or so. But rare is the one that really (really) has a restoration done on it well, unlike the Mustang. What I'm trying to point out is supply and demand. While at any moment there might be 50 people willing to pay $70k for a perfect 67 Fastback, there's probably one nut who would for a 240Z that he considers to be perfect. But this guy would have to look high and low for one of this level, whereas the 50 Mustang guys have 100 to choose from. I hope I'm right (not that I ever intend to sell). I'm literally betting you're wrong! Take care.
  19. PERFECTLY said. Should be a sticky! It's amazing how many really nice cars don't have their hoods aligned on here and everywhere else... even at car shows.
  20. Thanks everyone. dsommer, congrats on a "real" Scarab! That's awesome! Katman: This isn't John from the Porsche forum is it? If not, I have a buddy (that I never have met in person) with the same call tag on 6speedonline. Curious.
  21. Oh, also, remember that it has taken me 14 Zs to get to this point. Just never gave up!
  22. Thanks to all you guys. I'll try to get really good answers on the window trim for you all. As far as my job, I'm an entrepreneur. When land/real estate was big, I was into that. Now I'm into other things. Pretty much a people person for hire! Overall happy dude! God is good.
