  1. Your car looks wonderful. Very nice. I just don't get the headlight covers that have the "obvious add-on" chrome strip around them, to be honest. They make sense, because they better the coefficient of drag, but I can't help realizing that they are total add-ons when they have that big metal strip. Just my opinion. Absolutely fantastic Z.
  2. I hate to say it, but I don't know the name of the treatment that they used. I will ask. It's something that they use on their 55-57 Chevy restorations, and they swear by it.
  3. I'll keep them coming, for sure. We've had a HUGE hangup on the manifold, but soon we'll have another wave of progress and I'll keep everyone on here updated. Your car is gorgeous, by the way.
  4. Wow. Your build is coming along really well. Congrats. TWO white 240Zs!
  5. That's hilarious! Thank you for that. Hey, anyway I can help! I noticed "Thai" in your name. I was in Thailand for 3 months last year. Very... HOT... place!
  6. Wonderful! My first was a 78 as well. Congrats! They're addictive! Between my 78 and this one, I have owned 12 OTHER Zs!
  7. That's awesome! Wow. Looks like you found a steal too. Mine was $5400 and came from San Fran. No real rust at all though, and my interior was in a bit better shape. But I replaced all that anyway. In other words, I'd say that your $3400 savings over mine on the initial car was very well done! Great work! So, what are your plans? The group that restored my unibody is a GM resto shop too. Miller Brothers Hot Rod Barn. They specialize in 55-57 Nomads that go for $200k plus.
  8. Wow. Thank you very much. Is that YOUR Rover in the sig pic? I have one the same color, but it's nothing like that!
  9. FINALLY, the Peak Boost manifold came in. But it didn't have the correct TiAL V-Band flange. Argh. We're working to get the correct one by the end of the week. I'll keep you guys posted.

  11. Going with the vinyl tunnel cover, or leaving carpet? And you're not talking about the dash and center console, are you? Won't work well.

  13. All of the bolts, screws, washers, etc actually were taken off very carefully, so as not to strip them. We then cleaned them by hand and then nickel plated them. The plastic interior parts came from two places. I actually found a man who had bought 60% of the interior parts from a Datsun dealership decades ago. I bought everything he had, as it was for a 72 with a black interior and manual transmission. Perfect! None of the bags had ever been opened. Ever. They were still sealed up in "DATSUN" factory plastic! The remainder of the pieces came from Les Cannaday with Classic Datsun. It's all great stuff. I appreciate that you noticed all these little things. I tried not to miss any detail on this car.
  14. Right. I meant to answer your parts question earlier. It depends on what parts you are talking about. I mean, I can't really type in where I found every part, but am glad to help where I can. Anything specific? On the insurance, it's that I CANNOT stand to lose that kind of money. That's why the premium is worth it.
  15. Well, you're right actually. Kinda makes me feel like a dummy, but yeah. Hagerty already has this car insured for $160k. They have during the entire process, just in case something falls on it in the shop.
  16. I was 15 when I bought my first one too, but it was a '78 2+2 automatic. Yours, in my opinion, is MUCH cooler! Good job! The L24 is the way to go if you want to spend that money on other areas. I love that engine, and would prefer (just me) to have it than a V8. I've had L24s, L26s, L28s, a 350, and now an SR20DET. Haven't driven the SR yet, but a good L24 is my favorite of the rest. Again, just my opinion.
  17. Glad you guys like it. I can't wait to have this car done. I just moved into a house with a garage, which is a big reason that I farmed out this whole thing. But I'll have the new garage plumbed with pneumatics and such and may finish it on my own. Can't wait!
  18. I'm definitely in the six figures now, guys.
  19. Waiting on the exhaust manifold. It's taking a long time because he had to order a new collector to weld onto. I was told that it would likely ship today though. We have everything else just waiting there on it. Hopefully we'll have some good rejuvenation to this thread in the coming week or so. Thanks for staying tuned!
  20. Great find! Can't really go wrong, there. Enjoy in good health!
  21. Greg: Both came from Mack at McKinney Motorsports. We had to do a bit of cutting, as they aren't a perfect fit. But I'm really happy with the end result. Jared
