Maybe so. The car is perfect though. Can ou back this up a bit? Tell me why you say it?
-
Wow. We really have a ton of similarities, huh? On the rear arms, I must've mistyped something. I actually bought BOTH the AZC & the Modern Motorsports arms. (Can you say, OVERKILL?) I wanted to really evaluate which I thought was best. Here's the pic. The MM one is blue. The AZC is just the chromoly. We put the AZC on, so if someone wants the MM ones, I have those ready to ship! As for a VIR time, yeah. I can't wait to get one either. But I'm sure I'll leave a lot on the table, unlike in the 911. I really don't want to mess the Z up. So glad that you liked the Excellence article. Did you see the one that I wrote on the Panamera? They flew me over to Stuttgart Germany and I was in the first group of American journalists to get to be in that car. I got my own aggressive run on the track in the Turbo. Amazing car.

I honestly don't know, man. The group that's doing it probably wouldn't put it on there if it were going to possibly have issues. I'll ask them though.

Don, it's actually a 72 booster. We were told that the kit didn't have pressure issues and that it actually works best with the 72 booster. I'll have to let you guys know if I'm happy with the pedal once I'm on the road with it and we'll go from there. The AZC coilovers sticking through too far... I have different A arms and such than stock. Could be that they don't work well without the modified stuff. Don't know. I'm definitely not having that issue though. Is it just that you have too much thread coming out into the engine bay? As for an update on my car, I talked with the two guys working on my car at National Speed two days ago. They've had some internal strife there with a tech, and now have replaced him. Unfortunately, this had a negative effect on productivity on my car. That's why there's not been much to talk about. Instead of getting a "bling bling" Tomei throttle body, we're sending mine off to be overbored and polished. I don't want it to draw the eye for being ugly or pretty. It's just not where I want the focus under the hood. We've decided not to use Samco radiator hosing, instead going for polished aluminum piping just like the intercooler piping that you saw here (but smaller in diameter, of course). All of the fittings are top-grade, and allow for engine mount flex. Other than that, the exhaust is nearly fully fabricated. All of the hangers are custom, one off stainless. Many hours are into these hangers, and the tech at NSI has worked really hard to no have to drill into the car, only using existing/stock hanging points. By the 3rd of November, they will have all fabrication done. Then, all of the parts will be sent off for high temp thermal coating. The cam cover will be done too. Once that all comes back (hopefully 10 days), it'll be reassembled and tuning will start. After it's tuned to my liking (I'll go down there for the tuning and it's about 600 miles away from me) I'll load it up in my trailer and take it back to Miller Brothers Hot Rod Barn in North Wilkesboro where we'll assemble the rest of it (front clip, basic assembly, interior). Then, I'll put it back in the trailer and bring it over the mountain to Knoxville and enjoy the ♥♥♥♥ out of it on sunny days. That's the plan, fellas!

I so hate to hear of one getting in a wreck. I put my first car, a 78 2+2 through a barn backwards. After getting it out with a front end loader and getting it all squared away, I failed to yield to oncoming traffic at a redlight when taking a left and got t-boned. I was 16 then, and didn't have a car for the rest of high school (other than the last 2 months). That was a lesson learned the hard way.
-
That's my fave too. I really think it makes you assume so much about the rest of the car. Thanks for the kind words. I really hope I didn't build it so far that I'm nervous to drive it hard/often. I've never been that kind of guy, but this one COULD make me worry.
-
First off, your video is amazing. Great work. Wow. Here are some pics of the rest of the car. I have a thread on it right now, so that'll be the place to find more pics. It's almost done with the build. 400HP fully built (leaving the boost down to keep it at 400RWHP) SR20. Rotisserie resto. No bondo. No rust.
-
Wow. LOVE THE LIME! Woo hoo! Mine's a lime 72 as well. Looked for it forever. Yours is incredibly clean.
-
It's actually rustproofed, then Rhinolined with the exact color/tint.
-
Yup! I'm here now... in Farragut actually. Cars and Coffee at European Auto Garage this Saturday!

Which aftermarker exhaust manifold for sr20 in a s30!
Blakt Out replied to ruggedbert's topic in Nissan 4 Cyl Forum
I had one made by Peak Boost, bought through National Speed, Inc. Tial Flanged and all. It has no clearance issues with the rest of the car and is an excellent piece. However, we are having to slightly move the wastegate over from this current location. -
Anyone use the McKinney Motorsports SR20 mounts?
Blakt Out replied to mattyice's topic in Nissan 4 Cyl Forum
I've got McKinney stuff on mine. The intercooler, throttle cable, wiring, fan and shroud... etc. Great stuff. Mack will take care of you! We made this bracket though. -
I know this is an odd shot so "show off" of my car, but I love it regardless.
-
Which assembly? It's the diff mount and control arms, but with Modern Motorsports hubs.
-
Updates? Sure. We finally have some. Here goes. She's up on the lift... The fabrication of the downpipe has gone well. The brake proportioning valve is in the way of the wastegate... So we're moving it to this location... The dispersal tube is routing in between the subframe and body, and is recirculating to the downpipe in interest of noise level reduction and engine bay/under chassis cleanliness. Working on the cold-side charge pipe routing. This is going to come out great...

Thank you. I agree. While I don't want people to build a car just like mine, I must say that I am convinced that I have put at least as much quality into this car that anyone has ever, ever done. Secondly, why put a heavier engine in a car that's already nose heavy? I chose the smallest, lightest (that could be built to at least 400 reliable HP with minimal lag) engine to start with and took it from there. Other than for bragging rights, I see no good argument for why this is not the best choice. I love to debate this. I think that RB26DETT and 1JZ and big ass V8s are cool... but anything more than 450 or so in this chassis, and it's worthless unless you're building a drag car. Just my 2 cents back atcha.
-
Thanks fellas. Yeah. I got lucky on this one. Bought it sight unseen and it was in this good of shape. Whew!
-
Thanks guys. Steal? You can't steal the car, but you can steal the color. It's just the basic lime from 72. But it happens to be the best PPG paint mixed to that color that money can buy!
-
Panasports are cool and period correct. Also, you can powdercoat your wheels black and have an artist (like a pinstriper) do the red line on them. That's what I did on another car. Can you believe he did this by hand? No, the red one's not mine...
-
Me too. I have had a few 2+2s, and never, ever thought that one could look that good. It's gangsta!
-
On the wheels, he actually just told me about them a few posts above. "16x8, 25-30 year old BBS magneisum race wheels that were never imported to the USA according to BBS America. They are rare, that is why they are there." That whole car is incredibly nasty. Very badass.
-
I'll read up on them then. Thanks.
-
Gotcha. I appreciate your post. I didn't know that there was a factory set. Rarity is cool.
-
I just want to know what wrecked EvoMR he got the "Vortex Diffusers" off of (the little shark fins on the roof of the car). Do these really work on a car with otherwise 1970s aerodynamics?
-
MSA, I'm pretty sure.
