  1. A friend of mine might be donating a paxton supercharger to me and my conversion in progress. I was wondering if anyone has put a paxton 2000 onto a LT1 engine.
  2. Yep my r-180 is useless now. Froze up on me on freeway. See the write-up and pics on my website. http://moviesguy.selfhost.com/240zr180.html
  3. Wow, thanks for the quick reply. Thought so. Time to go get another r180.
  4. I don't have much experience in differentials. Here it is. I was going 65mph on the freeway. Been having some rear or tranny noise for about a week. Well anyways I was going and... clunk screecchhh... yes that is the sound of both rear tires locking up. Managed to not wreck into anything. Had to unbolt halfshafts from where they bolt to tires to free up the drivetrain so I could tow it. Just pulled the differential. If you spin one wheel, the other spins in the opposite direction. They cannot be spun in the same direction, and you cannot turn where the driveshaft connects. I don't have any experience in these rear ends. As far as I can remember from others this is not right. Is it toast? I think so.
  5. I just dropped off my tranny to get rebuilt and a Transgo shift kit installed. Will this new shifting effect my PCM? Will it need reprograming or "tweaking"? Thanks for any info. 94LT1
  6. Painless brand - prices varied cheapest I could find was through jegs. $608.98 including shipping. It's the most expensive one on the page below - couldn't use cheaper one due to year - 94 and I am running the 4L60E tranny with it also. All I have to say is... it better be good. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=2133&prmenbr=361
  7. Electrical should not be a problem. I just ordered everything today which includes a painless wiring harness with vats bypass and 4l60e wiring. I plan to wire the painless harness into my donor car before pulling engine to make sure everything is hooked up right and it runs with it. Should be pretty easy after that... disconnect... pull engine... reconnect. The harness is a stand alone engine and tranny system with fuse box and relays included.
  8. Just wanted to drop a line and let you guys know that I have begun my LT1 4L60e conversion on my 1983 280zxt. Also to say thanks for everyone answering my questions through the past years to lead me up to this point of finally starting it! I have posted my progress on my web site. It is pretty lame right now but I will fix it up soon. http://moviesguy.selfhost.com
  9. This kit is over $600 and wondering if it is worth it and if anyone on here has used it. Did some searches and couldn't find anything but people who have used PAINLESS 18 circuit harnesses. I am talking about a 94 lt1 4l60e fuel injection wiring harness with vats bypass. I think it would be easier to use this rather than tracing wires from engine and tranny from donor car like I have. What do you guys think? Will this harness, when used with computer from donor car be pretty much a self contained fuel injection (engine and tranny) system with fuse box, relays provided by PAINLESS in the harness? That's what it appears to be like to me from description. Healthy price though. http://www.streetrodcatalog.com/manufacturers/painless/p-wiring-fuelinject.shtml
  10. My donor car, 94 Caprice Police Package LT1 + 4l60e has a column shift on it. How would, and how hard, to change to floor shifter? Did the 4l60e come as a floor shift in another car that I could get parts from? Thanks guys!! Nathan 72 240z Dual webber 32/36 DGV's 83 280zxt T-Tops Turbo fried 94 Caprice Classice Police Pack LT1 4L60E Donor for one of my z's Question of the year: what car to put the LT1 4L60E into... 72 or 83
  11. Do you guys like the 4l60e or the 700r? I just bought a complete car - engine= 94 lt1 tranny= 4l60e. Bought the car from my boss for a whopping $800 - police package caprice- fast as hell!! But FASTER when it's IN MY Z!!!!
  12. Everyone has got to check out this chevy 350 v8 nos powered z on ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2410409395&category=6472
  13. I currently am in the process of finding a worthy LT1 and T56 for my 72 240Z. After the 72, I want to do a LT1 and T56 swap in my 83 280ZX Turbo, but have a question for the mounts. I know the JTR is made for the first generation Z, will it still work on the 83? Maybe the MSA mounts? Anyone made the LT1 swap on a 83 Turbo.... one good thing about the 83 is the r200 diff.... whew!no rear end work on it.
  14. Has anyone converted a 83 280zxt? Just wondering if the mounts from JTR work with it too?
  15. I hear alot about the JTR conversion manual and kit. I have ordered the manual so far. Does anyone know about the kit sold though motorsport? I believe there is one for just the engine mounts... and some other for misc. part adapters. Anyone have any info? Thanks 72 240z 83 280ZXT T-Tops
