  1. I own a 260z. I recently found a 280zx-t for sale for $600, and I was thinking I could rip the whole drivetrain out of the car. Apparently after reading the differential FAQ, the R200 in the zx is a 2 pinion and not as good as a 4 pinion. I also though there were other other parts I could use from the newer zx to upgrade my Z, but was sadly incorrect... The zxt does NOT run, due to no-spark condition, which 3 different mechanics havent been able to figure out... The owner replaced the Ecu, coil and a bunch of stuff but still hasnt fixed the problem... it might be something stupid like a cas, but I dunno... Do you think its still worth buying the car and doing the swap, and parting the rest? I was going to puta RB25det in the car, which now I'm selling to put a SR20det in the car. Then I found this car for sale, and not I'm sorta indecisive as to what swap to do.... I know the advantages/disadvantages of each swap (RB/SR/L28et) I'm ditching the RB swap cuz it seems to need too many things, (rear sump oil pan/pickup, mounts driveshaft etc) So its SR vs l28t...
  2. I think you misunderstood me. I KNOW the vq swap has been done, I researched it as a swap for my Z. I was simply wondering if the OP ever considered it since it wasn't mentioned...
  3. Sorry to dig up old thread, but...I wonder if he ever considered a VQ series motor... I'd imagine they're pretty light, low COG etc etc...
  4. If I remember correctly you have to drop the tank to get at some of those shock absorber bolts... I took them off of my 260 as well- they're heavy as hell too!!
  5. So I aquired this car because i got sick of rusty 240sx's If i have to fix rust, i might as well do it on a car withy of a restoration, right? I'm putting a rb25det in it, mostly 'cause i have one sitting at my friends house taking up space, ha. heres a video of 1st startup in 8 years (the L26)... hopefully the video will work... if not heres a direct link http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=34013589
  6. i have a s30 chassis, a 260Z. I'm putting in a rb25 i have lying around in it....
  7. by the way, since you're also in NJ i have a nissan skyline FSM, if you want to copy that. Its in english, but is missing the RB26dett section...
  8. Sick... I may have to steal this idea for my Z. I'm debating whether or not i should switch the Z to a live axle using a ford 9" rear...
  9. thanks X 1000000 !!! by the way, you know anyone who can sand/ media blast my 260Z?
  10. HOLY SH*T thats fast!!! Congrats!!! out of curiosity, what set up (suspension and axels) are you using in the rear to get it all down to the ground?
  11. My buddy Carlos has a rb25dett, lol. He is using the rb26dett turbo setup. the rb25det is cheaper, and unless you're building a ridiculous drag car will suit your needs just fine. I recently bought a 260z, and decided to swap in the rb25det i have laying around. after the chassis, suspension brakes are all sorted out, i'm going to shoot for ~400- 450 whp, easily attainable with the RB25det.
