  1. Thanks to everyone, I think I have enough info to short it out now !!!
  2. The LS_1 is in and running in my 1978 280Z. I received the JTR (Stealth) radiator today and have it mounted in the Z. Brackets provided worked well and everything fit as hoped. NOW the hard part. Does anyone have any information on what hoses to use. I have the T and reducer that was provided by JTR, but no clue on where to begin with the hoses. Any information would helpful !!!! Thanks in advance
  3. Thanks Mike for the quick response. I was hoping you would have the answer, on my way out to the garage now to hook it up!!!! I also havr the JTR radiator on order and a Ford Taurus / Mustang electric fan (4500 cfm). Was curious what fan set up you used. The fan is a two speed so you will probably see more questions when its hook up time.
  4. Question to m1noel, do you recall the wire hookup colors you used to mate to the cable x from the sensor. Cant determine which is +/- from the sensor from the shop manual.
  5. OK, the computer and air flow is now in the 1978 280Z / LS_1. I ordered a radiator from JTR with the mounting kit. They do NOT sell an electric cooling fan. Any recommendations on what works and where to order. Thanks
  6. Thanks for the input. I think I will mount on the passenger side in front of the strut tower where the canister use to be. I will use the three bolts still in place.
  7. I am in the process of mounting the computer for the LS_1 into my 1978 280Z. Any advise would be appreciated. Does not look like there are many good choices. rwwisnesky@yahoo.com
  8. Thanks for the compliment Mexicola. I stripped the compartment to bare metal. The painted it with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. After that I used Eastwood trunk paint followed with 5 coats of Eastwood clear Diamond coat. I wanted the finish to be forgiving, and so far it has worked.
  9. Thanks for the inputs. I think I will do as suggested by M1Noel and go straight to the sensor on the tranny. You folks have been great and I thank you all !!!!!!
  10. Yes, they are looking for the number of teeth in the tranny sending unit. Checked your web site, great work. What did you do to get the speedometer working.
  11. Help, I give up. I am a 60's vintage mechanical guy with a 2007 electronic question. Finally have the LS_1 with 6 speed in the 1978 280Z. Got a Abbott Cable X box for the speedometer conversion. To get it to work I need to calibrate it. It needs to know pulses per mile in order to function. Formula = Transmission # teeth X rear axle ratio X tire revs per mile equals pulses per mile. How do I find out how many teeth on the transmission gear, I can figure out the rest. Thanks in advance rwwisnesky@yahoo.com
  12. Thanks for the info. The computer and harness did come out in one piece. On the other side I finially cut the seven wires to the junction block to remove the engime room "snake" so I could work it more easily and also paint the engine compartment. My biggest fear is the electrical in the convesion.
  13. I am in the process of installing a LS1 with 6 speed into my 1978 280Z. I am prepping the engine compartment. I removed the computer and the drivers side harness in tact. I am trying to remove the passenger side now. It appears to converge into a white junction block below the dash. I separated all of the connectors, but one appears to be permanently attached to the back side of the junction box. Does anyone know how to remove it, or does it come out with the harness, hopefully not. Thanks
