  1. I don't know about that wing on the Primadonna, I remember a drawing of what someone was thinking the air was doing after the radiator is all sealed off preventing the air from going around it and the drawing showed the the turbulant air was sticking out pretty far in front of the car (where the Primadonna wing is) and even if thats really what happens it would still catch the ends of the wing. Then again if you look at the front end of the Primadonna Z the radiator opening is drastically smaller so I really doubt it would have the turbulant problem anyways. Just want I'm thinking about it, I'm no aero-engineer but wish I was, lol. Also I'm always going back and forth on having the air exiting the radiator being ducted out the top of the hood, but I would think that would pretty much just completely seal off any air in the engine compartment and therefore no air for the engine's intake and no air to possibly go through the tranny tunnel to cool the trans or anything like that. Which is why I'm thinking of just a simple set of hood vents to vent the excess air over the top of the car. Raising the back of the hood up like people do on S13s doesn't really appeal to me on the Z, it just doesn't look right at all. But a classmate of mine did it on his S13 and I thought it looked cool
  2. I've spent most of my time on this subforum. There's some on splitters, a couple on hood vents, rear diffusers, but I've never seen anyone make a full body belly pan yet (which I keep on looking at and the only thing that seems a problem with that is the exhaust and is why I want it to come out the fender instead of under the car). I've also not read much about anything on the aerodynamics of the body kits from reactionreasearch, to me they look like they'll function really good with proper ducting and everything. What I'm hoping for is the Subtle Z front end with the 940Z quarters will extract air from the wheel wells the same way they do on stock cars (Nascar). Another concern I have with the full body belly pan is not having enough airflow around the transmission and differential to cool it efficiently. It may though, I don't know. Maybe some of the air coming past the radiator and hitting the firewall will go through the transmission tunnel to the differential and maybe have an exit for that air at the end of the diffuser or something?
  3. Yeah, after I posted it I realized the title sucked but I didn't I was able to edit the title after I've posted it. I'm not a very good title maker but I'm getting better. Is there anything else that could be done to create front end downforce? A wing is an easy solution for the rear but having a big wing on the hood would just look...stupid, lol
  4. On the exhaust note, I was thinking of an SR20DET and have the downpipe go directly from the turbo to exist out of a big hole on the side of the fender. That's what I want to do at least, but looking at the engine bay of the Z it looks like it would have to be routed between the steering arm and the brake master cylinder and I fear that it would either melt the steering coupler, heat up the brake fluid too much, or both. Also I wouldn't go wingless, wish I could but that just creates more body work from removing the 3-peice spoiler and I've grown attach to it too lately (Ok, that's not a wing but it should still reduce a lot of lift right?)
  5. Im gonna go through all my stuff and see if there's another way than selling the Z, there has to be, I just love the car so much. Wow, I sound like a premature schoolgirl crying over her boyfriend, lol
  6. Well, no one has replied but oh well. I have a few other things that came to mind that I would like opinions on as well. I've read that the air from the side is able to flow under the car to create lift so I was thinking maybe make a little platform that protudes straight out under the rocker panel an inch or two to create a wall that wont allow air to go underneath. Would that actually decrease lift or cause my car to flip over at 100mph (exaggeration)?
  7. I don't know the regulations either but I've heard things like you have to keep the factory spindles and the factory dash in it, you're not allowed to use the colored-smoke tires, and I've also heard that AWD isn't allowed. The Evos and Imprezas I've watched on youtube built for drifting were all converted to RWD
  8. My friend and I had a "discussion" about drifting. He's a drag racer and I love corners, whether sideways or just plain fast. He believes drifting is just a fad and will die off soon while I say it's just starting out and will grow. What's other's opinions on it?
  9. 1974, I believe it's an early 260Z. Mountain Home, Arkansas. I have all the papers on it, all the reciepts, photo of when the previous owner had it in the body shop, Haynes manual. The shop is putting a Holley on it now but I'm gonna sell the original SU carbs and exhaust manifold with it. It's a L28 with the carburatioin of the L26 put on it. The shop is filled with cars needing work so it takes them a while to get anything done. Whenever it's out of the shop I'll post pics and more info on it in the for sale sub-forum
  10. I was gonna post it up on here, but I'm waiting for it to get out of the shop and running good first.
  11. I have all these great ideas of what I wanted to do with my S30, but since I can't find a job in my hometown and other hardships like that I think I'm gonna sell the S30 to pay for new parts I need for the Mustang and go back to WyoTech and take the Chassis Fabrication class I wanted to take and also pass as many ASE tests as I can. I loved the car for the short time I got to look at it's beauty and even shorter time I had to drive it, but I can get way more from selling the Z than the Mustang. I'm so sad that I'll be getting rid of my dream car but I'll be able to buy another one after I graduate and have a decent job
  12. For the past 5-6 years huh? Where have I been? I've heard of the Toyota/Subaru thing, that's supposed to be the new Celica I believe. The base model being RWD and the next step up with be an AWD one I think, read that somewhere. Maybe an Road and Track mag? Don't remember.
  13. I heard rumors that Toyota was gonna bring back the AE86, is there any other news or updates on this?
  14. This is what I've been thinking for the aero of my car when I get the money, can people with more knowledge tell me if I'm heading the right direction or not? From reaction research: Subtle Z air dam and front fenders, 940Z quarter flare. My reasoning on that is that the air dam has that kick-out in front of the wheel that will promote air exiting out of the wheel well and the reason for the 940Z quarters instead of the Subtle Z ones is the the 940Z ones also have that kick-out whil the others don't. I want the covers for the headlights of course to cut off drag. I want the grill opening to be completely ducted and sealed to the radiator (possibly intercooler in the future). A wind splitter that protrudes a couple inches in front of the air dam and doubles as a belly pan that covers the entire bottom of the engine bay to the cabin area. Either put vents in the hood or do what JDM cars have which is having the back of the hood raised an inch or two (be a little more complicated for our cars because the hinge is in front instead of back). On the belly pan I was thinking of putting some vortex generators at the back before it hits the cabin in an attempt to keep the air flow smooth until it meets a diffuser type deal in that runs from the end of the floorboards to the bottom of the roll pan, its not so much a diffuser as a peice fabricated to keep the air smooth. It would have the fins on there, but not big ones so it wouldn't be near as effective. I want enough negative lift to be generated so I can run wingless but I really doubt that would happen so I would probably keep the 3 peice spoiler that came with the car when I bought it on the back. Does this all sound good or am I just gonna cause my car to turn into my own little private jet?
  15. I did ask the guy I bought it from about it and he said he was planning to put some body mounts or bushings or something like that in between them to cut down on vibrations. It sounded like total BS to me but I didn't want to get in an arguement with him. Also, my car has been in the shop for like 3 months now because they are supposed to be putting new carbs on it but they haven't touched it yet, I won't be going back to them again obviously. But after it is fixed I am going to take it to a body shop and get a qoute on about how much it would cost to fix the floor.
  16. WOOT WOOT!!! Thank you, I spent hours trying to find it again
  17. I while ago I found a pretty decent parts store on the internet. I believe I clicked on the link from someone's signature. I had it in my favorites before I did PC Recovery and I didn't write it down because I'm used to having the sites I know memorized. There were two things on it that I was checking out, the first was either a stage 2 or stage 3 front brake kit that was under $500 I think it was. The other thing was they were offering these wheels http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/WWC18/25-1188 but they had other size options for them such as 14", 16", 17" and I think maybe even 18"
  18. I stayed up until 7am dicussing that, lol. I'm still pretty tired. The way I see it this should work with almost any engine setup if it's small enough, from the 3 cylinder of a Geo Metro all the way up to a Cadillac FWD V8 like that was in my brother's old car (I think it was a LeSabre or something)
  19. That would be one cornering Z, mid-engine and AWD. It's tempting, maybe if I sell my Mustang and find a decent enough Z chassis in a junkyard to buy cheap and turn into a race car.
  20. lol, I like that life insurance part. That's funny. The worst that can happen is the whole drivetrain falls apart going about 80 down the highway and the the gas tank and oil pan scrape across the road, punching holes in it and then sparks from the steel going against the pavement ignite the leaking gas and oil and the whole car blows-up.
  21. Afterthought. You can't just have a gear coming off the output shaft to spline with a gear on the driveshaft, you need to have another gear between them to get the driveshaft to rotate the same way as the output shaft...but that would really depend if you flipped the engine assembly to be biased more to the right or the left though.
  22. I had to make sure, I was 80% sure flipping it upside would prevent the car from trying to implode like that but there was still a 20% thought in the back of my mind that it wouldn't do anything and the car wouldn't move.
  23. OH!!! I see now. That makes a ton more sense, love the drawings too. I didn't know what you were talking about earlier with only the rears driving most of the time but now I do. I'm really confident about that design. Just one more thing, if you do put another R180 in the front wouldn't it have to be mounted upside down so the you don't have the front wheels trying to go backwards while the rear wheels try to go forward?
  24. Isn't the center differential on a Subaru Impreza a viscous coupling? It would be the same at that. Or if it's bothering you that much, could just make a special housing for a helical gear or clutch type LSD so it would be torque sensing instead of speed sensing.
