  1. well i have a question. my car doesnt run but it did just two weeks ago? maybe last week. its a 75 280z and the radio works and head lights all the good stuff.. but the engine i guess you can say it cranks the fan turns like 5 degrees and then it stops and the starter makes a clicking noise. any idea what i should do? thanks.
  2. actually that is the first thing i did. and every electrical works radio, headlight, dome light, etc. any thing else?
  3. so i have a 75 280z project been working on for a month and was running and really strong, but just yesterday it doesnt start up. all it does is turn the fan and stops and make winding noises and stupid clicking noises from the starter. electricals work. so does anyone know how to test to see if its the starter? or does anyone know if it is the starter. thanks all positive input would be appreciated. thanks - larry
  4. quick question dont know if anyone is answering anything, but for the rear calipers with the 240sx? do you still need the control arm? should i remove it?

  7. wow this is insane i just picked up on this. i know this is a bit late, but i noticed you used a 280zx radiator like i currently did. i had to drill new holes. did you have to do the same or was there a way you got it to fit just right? since i drilled new holes i moved the radiator down so the top wont hit the hood, making clearance jsut in case.. let me know what you did. -larry.
  8. alrite, been busy so havent got around to the car will do this friday. now that i think about it, the info you guys gave is great. i dont think it was steam it was smoke. i have a feeling its a gasket... i know it isnt the thermostat housing. that is for sure i double checked that make times. but will do on friday thanks. again its a good think im still getting feed on this. gives me more to think about. thanks again.

  10. i've already changed the rear bulbs to check if it was, but it isnt the rear bulbs. any clue? i dont know if it is the wiring, hoppe not.....

  12. ok, i have a 1975 280z and the electrical dont work well, most dont. the interior, head lights, and rear brake lights work, but other than that nothing works. so anyone know why? dont work: dash, rear tail lights.
  13. ok, got a quick question, i have a 1975 280z with a L28 engine i just changed the water pump, radiator, thermostat, and almost every possible gasket for the cooling in the car along with heater hose, and radiator hoses, should the engine be smoking? what could cause it? it looks like it is smoking from under the intake. maybe all the radiator coolant got on something? or not? but it started smoking right after i started te car and it the car was cold before i started it? any ideas? thanks.
  14. has anyone upgraded the brake master cylinder on the Z? i got a 75 280z. i want to upgrade the master cylinder, was thinking a Z31 like i did for my 240sx, but dont know what i need? first question. what options do i got? second question. do i need to change out the master vac? the brake booster. and its all for the sake of upgrading the front to 4 pistons and i want all the feedback i can get from hitting the brakes, im planning on putting on earl's SS braided lines on hte car to upgrade it, so thought maybe i should do the master while im at it. tell me what you think. all input would be very useful. thanks.
  15. ok, got a question for those who did the 240sx caliper swap and i want to know what brake lines im suppose to use? can the 280z stock brake lines work? cuz im about to buy a new set of SS lines frome earl's and i dont know what i should do before i tear apart the rear drum set. if anyone has done this and bought a pair earl's line could you tell me what number or what kind you bought or a SS equivalent. hopefully i wont have to custom make it? thanks.

  17. thanks for the help. hopefully you can answer this for me. where would i find the slave? and the fork? well i dotn know if this info helps you any. the car starts. and you could put it in gear, but once the clutch is being released the car doesnt move. but it can stall, havent stalled it, but got it to the brink of doing so jsut to see. thanks. hope you can help me some more savage42 your info is helping me a lot so dont think your not going unthanked.
  18. ok. thanks for the info. now define bleeding. cuz i got lost there. so i dont have to adjust it, but bleeding. and when the clutch is being pumped nothing happens to the clutch master. so anyone can explain in depths what i should do? thanks again. you guys are great help.
  19. its a bare bone stock, L28 engine, 75 280z, i know it sounds bad taht its stock, but it is my girlfriend's dad's car and its been sitting in the garage for eight years and it is all mint condition inside and out. i got it running (as in starts, but not a good idea to start it)but there are little things wrong with it. like the brake is leaking air, the waterpump is broken so leaking fluid, thermostat is broken, the clutch needs to be adjusted, but it had fluid in it, but i think it needs adjustment tell me what you think.
  20. i dont know if this has been discussed yet. but can anyone walk me through on how to adjust the clutch? im assuming this car isnt hydralic and i have to do it from behind the clutch petal. so what exactly do i have to do. step by step. and what not to do, when i dont find out how to do things. i always end up doing the what-not-to-do's so im asking ahead of time. thanks.
  21. so im restoring a Z taht didnt run at first, the car starts, the brakes arent working and the clutch i guess works, but i need to adjust it. 1). i need to know how to adjust the clutch. 2). i when i get brake pumping, because i filled the fluid up to remove air in the system. i noticed it is leaking air from bewtween, the cylinder connects into. i think there is a metal piece between the cylinder and the big black thing i cant remember what its called, but yea. i feel air leaving but not leaking fluid. does this mean i have to change the master cylinder? or what? thanks.
