Mike,
Will you, in the future, be offering headers for the ZX with recirculating ball and roller steering?
-
The mounts are from a 68 to 72 Chevy truck. Check out my link below to see my version of what Ross was talking about.
-
I did my ZX swap in about three months, including fabricating parts.
I have done V-8 swaps in both a Z and a ZX. I don't think one is harder than the other, just different.
-
I love that sound. Terry, when will you have yours on the road?

What MR said. I got my motor in a 91 G-30 one ton van for $550. Pulled the motor, sold the body for $150 and the 4L80E trans for $500. Ended up with a rebuilt 350 four bolt main truck motor with <30K miles and $100 in my pocket. Shop wisely, it can be done.

GV, glad to see you posting, again. Your knowledge is greatly welcomed and appreciated. How is that Vette build going? I hope you were able to put that driveshaft to good use. Got any pics, yet?
-
The 200-4R will fit in place of the TH350, with the 700R4 you will have to change your driveshaft length. I have the 700R4 and traction is almost non-existant in first with 3.70 rear. If I were to do it over again I would use a 200-4R.

Those lights look identical to the lights on my 79 ZX.

If my car sounded like that, I'd have every ricer in town trying to run me. As it is, now, all I have to do is give the throttle one blip and they ALL back off and don't want anything to do with me.

If I remember right, from my first edition JTR manual, Mike Knell used his "mule" car to tow a boat. Maybe he will chime in with a word of experience.

I want one for cell phones.

You might check your local tranny shops, also. We have a local shop that has a catch of 200R4's. They will build one up, for your application for $1200 including converter.

Paul, I'm not sure about drilling your own hubs, Never tried it. I'm sure you'll have to watch concentricity and spacing very closely. As for the 225/45/17, they might be stretched slightly on a 8"rim. I have the same size tire on a 7" rim and fit is perfect.

In the early seventies, when I was in the Army in Germany, I had a 66 Mini Cooper. They do have incredible handling, but that one is purpose built.

My son just returned from Iraq. Phone cards were one of the best received items over there. He would call home once or twice a week and could very easily drop $40 in one call.

I had my first kill with my ZX the other day, without even racing. I was at a light when a totally riced out Honduh (huge ground effects, 18" rims, rubber band tires, a triple tiered wing and f*rt can muffler) came up next to me. He started revving and looking at me. I waited until he was finished, popped it in neutral and gave it one blip to about 4 grand. The look on his face was priceless. He shook his head NO and when the light turned green he took off very slow.

I had someone ask me if mine was a MG the other day.

Many new houses around here are using this for garage floors, so they can also have garage storage on the walkout level, under the main level garage. http://www.spancrete.com

I am running adapters as well. Mine are also 1.5 ". Though I have not raced my car, it has received some abuse. 350sbc, 700R4 with 2200 stall.

ADR Fuel Lites, 17x7, under 15 lb.

I did exactly the same as 73TPIZ using a stock shifter from a 94 Z-28. It works great and makes the neutral safety and backup circuits a breeze.

Also, one was a roadster conversion. Sweet add.

It reminds me of a Vega Wagon.
JTR Datsun Z V-8 Mounting Kit Question
in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board

The recirculating ball and roller steering will have a steering box on the drivers side rail which interferes with most exhaust manifolds and, at this point, all commercially available headers.
The rack and pinnion will have a steering rack behind the crossmember possibly interfereing with the oilpan. I hope this answers your question.
