  1. I have a Tomei pump myself, i installed it how it came out of the box.. i get about 25psi at a hot Idle and about 60psi at a 3k cruise

    That's normal oil pressure.

At over 100 psi I'm surprised you haven't blown any oil filters up. I've seen one go @120 psi and that was a mess. It was a crappy fram filter.

  2. You had over 100psi of oil pressure at anything over idle? That's way too much no wonder the bottom end was shot. You sucked every bit of oil out of the pan. I would put money on that you were causing cavitation or foaming the oil. Not good. The oil pump can't flow foam.

  3. Nissan MAF runs off a heated wire and it uses that wire to measure the amount of air that passes that wire. The ecu measures the air by how much power it take to keep that wire a certain temp. So when you run a blow threw set up that air intake changes because of the heat generated by compressing air by the turbo. That intake charge temp is a lot higher than it would be if it was stock even when it passes through the intercooler. On a nice and hot day with heat soak your looking at 200f + degrees higher than the intake charge before the turbo . So with that said it will have to be tuned for that blow through set up. And I wouldn't think the stock MAF would stand up to that temp for very long.

K.I.S.S keep it simple stupid. Sometimes we try to redesign the wheel when the original wheel works perfect to start with.

  4. I cut a hole in the core support for another pipe to pass through. Then I had to put a 90 degree coupler in. I made a flange out of sheet metal and exhaust tubing for a flange to mount up to the MAF. I think I posed pics on hybridz years ago.

  5. Your going to have tuning issues with a blow though set up. The system wasn't designed for a blow though set up ( ask me how). I learned alot with my rb set up one thing is the K.I.S.S rule... Keep it simple stupid. Just place the MAF 1 foot or more away from the turbo and your done. Drive it and enjoy!

When I had my rb20 I had the same problem. I had the MAF placed in front of the intercooler. Nice and cool air. I ran tubing from the MAF to the turbo. Easy as pie. Problem fixed and fixed fast.

  6. Don't do a blow threw setup. Your going to open a whole new can of worms. You want the air flow meter at least 12 inches away from the turbo so you don't have turbulence problems. The farther away the better.

  7. Pat1 you are often a beacon of light with my speed bumps on this swap I jumped feet first into. Thank you. Has any one had any experience with AMS brand intercoolers (i think that is the correct brand) by chance? Someone mentioned it to me in passing at a local audio shop and I'm a bit wary of getting the part on a random kids word. granted his Lancer does look to be well done.

If I remember correctly AMS used to sell stuff for the 300zxtt when I had one and people complained about the product all the time. I have a cheap Chinese intercooler (cxracing) and its junk! I had to weld it up a couple times. I want to replace it with a better core but I haven't had a chance. I mean it does the job but it could be better alot better. You get what you pay for. I wouldn't trust it on a hot hot day high boost and a crappy tune= a bad day.

  8. Hey guys, so I just got a light weight flywheel for my rb25. I was curious if I am going to have to get the crank re-balanced with the new fly wheel or does it not matter. I'm pretty sure its internally balanced and doesn't matter but I wanted to make sure.

You have nothing to worry about. Slap that thing in and enjoy. It should be balanced unless it's some chinese ebay crap.

  9. With the engine running look at the fuel trims and the o2 sensors what are they saying rich/lean. What ignition timing are you seeing with it starts messing up. Look at the engine cooling temp and intake temp. Are they showing the correct temp? I had a ecu crap out on me on my 20 before. Are te caps in the ecu ok? Are they leaking? What's your fuel pressure? Is the cam/crank timing ok?

The NIStune is a pretty sweet setup you can monitor everything the ecu is doing.

  10.

Oil pan and sump (hopefully pat can help me out with this :) )

I would be happy to build you a rear sump pan. Just let me know when your ready.

When I had my rb20 I used the stock rb20 motor mounts with the stock 280z motor mounts (I think). There should be a thread on this. I know I posted pictures of them. I used a stock 240sx throttle cable. Off of ebay for 5.00 shipped. I would use a Bosch 044 pump. I don't like thw walbro pumps. They are cheap but you get what you pay for. Your ecu should come with your swap. You can use the stock intake masifold. It fits perfect. You can use a ebay intercooler if you like but you get what you pay for. I'm using one and I don't like it. It's not very efficient. But again you get what you pay for. I had to weld my cxracing crap up 4 times so far.

    I posted a wiring thread for a rb20
