  1. I'd love to see some photos of a v8 in a 80,s 200sx.....all the 240-280 z cars are rusted to hell But the 200sx cars are in much better overall condition...hybrid material.
  2. ...so someone actuallly fit a v8 in a 200sx??my hero!!!....no room for a radiator in the stock location???damn ...kills that idea!
  3. ...great info....i've been wanting to put a small block chevy into a vg30 equipped 87 200sxse.....anyone know or think this kit would interchange??damn i hope so!!!!
  4. Do those mounts relace the Nissan 2.4 or 3.0??
  5. ...what is a reaction disk?is it inside the booster or out???im having this same problem on the wifes 91 Nissan.....its driving me nuts and wasting alot of money.
  6. ...i built my 200r4 myself and it worked excellent behind a 383stroker...it originally had a turbo350[which i also built up] but the need for overdrive moved me to try the 200r4....it tamed the 4.11 rear end was the same overall lenghth as the t350.
  7. ...it allows the adjustment of the rich/lean of the fuel and air....dont adjust if the red/green of the ECU are flashing in sync. throughout the rpm range.
  8. ...its not hard at all with the video and manuel...its just not something that the beginner should rush....a clean work area is a must and it helps to have the room to lay out the parts in sequence.....it took me a couple weeks because i double and triple rechecked everything.
  9. ..a few in the nation????THAT WOULD SCARE ANYONE TO RUN AND PAY THEIR PRICES..... i always like to undertake as much as possible to try and make sure its done right and to save some money[fireman's pay in the big apple only goes so far]... i liked the video, it allows you to follow along and see what a shop manual can never do....if it gets confusing just hit the rewind button and take another look ...transmissions,especially an overdrive have alot of parts and it helped me keep it all in order..i had built one other trans prior to this[t350]....i used a core from a Caddy because it was cheap, low milage and not likely abused by a racer.. Its not set up with the GN/SS valve body but i upgraded with a cheap kit and it worked excellent...I was able to make all the tools needed for disassembly and such.....the most needed tool is a dial guage indicator and stand[cheap and easy to find] to set up the clearances[very important from what i had researched]....look in your yellow pages/internet under transmission part dealers and most will sell you the quality kits for cheap as compared to Summitt/Jegs....i enjoyed it for two years of use and ended up selling the car after 9/11....give it a go.
  10. ....i had a similar problem with a tranny and got fed up and decided to rebuild a 200r4.....bought a video and manual from JCWhitney and followed it through.....it worked flawlessly and made my 72 Chevelle with 383 and 4.11 rear tame on the highways and an animal off the line...good luck.

    diffy flange

Hello all.......the JTRbook sells a upgrade differential flange to handle the v8 abuse[2.25" 'pilot diameter]......can this part be found in the yards or is it a custom JTR part???THANKS, Mike
  17. ...Hello all....i need to know if the straight 6 and v6 share the same spacing between engine mounts [280z and 300zx ] ...can a 300z engine drop on to the 280z mounts???
  18. ...thanks for the advice, i took a look at a 79 280zx[90000 miles] that was in decent shape[rusted out lower doors only] but decided it was not worth the hassle that others have converting a chevy 8 to the zx cars...i need a easy hybrid for the first try....also found a cheap 75 280z but it was rusted out bad[bumpers were bearly there?],a shame because it was almost perfectly straight....my search continuse.
  19. Hello all...i just recieved the book today and its worth every penny..........looking for a 280z in the n.y.c area.
  20. ....its only because making power with a Chevy drivetrain is cheaper and info is everywhere......adapting the AMX to the overdrive trans would be cool.
  21. .....i've given up looking for a clean early 240 car[N.Y.C. rusters] to do my first v8 conversion.....but have just come across a no rust 73 AMX with a blown engine. Anyone know how similar the engine mounts are to swap in a Chevy small block and 200r-4????Thanks, Mike

    700r4 vs 2004r

....200r4 is the same size as the t350......no need to shorten the drive shaft..........it was used in v8 cars as well!
  23. ....is there a limit to how many coats i can put on?????i want to wet sand out the imperfections eventually so is more or less better????Thanks
  24. I need to remove all the paint from my 88 200sxse rear spoiler. There is a adhesion problem going on and its flaking off down to the smooth fiberglass.Looks horrorable. Are there paint strippers designed to use for this application????
