  1. Roger that , I am concerned wit the black soot that is collecting around the bottom of the plug. Im gonna see what the NGK BCPR4ES will do. I have the 5s now. Oh I meant the 4202 Bosch Platinums. They are the same as the 4ES's. My car will make your eyes water and I think I need to dyno it, but I remember that some on the board picked up quite a bit of torqe and HP etc by de-Jetting from a real rich condition. Thanks for the advice, I can always put the NGK 5ES plugs back in if it doesnt work out.

  2. I have heard that if I mix 1 gallon of racing Alchohol with 10 gallons of High Octane Gas I can raise my Octane level to around 105+. Is this safe for aluminum heads and is it safe in general? Anyone ever do this?

  3. Another find....the NGK plugs get hotter the lower the number. AC Delco is the opposite. NGK goes from 2 (hottest) to 14 (coldest). Mine is BCPR5ES-11 so I think I will try the BCPR4ES-11 and see. Thats only two steps away from the hottest plug. I will lower the gap to .035 as well and recheck.

  4. Thanks guys..yeah I tuned the idle AFM already and its decent. My original jets were 71/80. I now have 69/76. I also find it next to impossible to cross reference the next hotter plug. I am running NGK BCPR5ES now. I know I need to bump it up but should I try one step hotter or two? Your right I do have the black soot a little but the electrode is tan.... your move...

  5. I am running rich and the plugs are kinda black. Do I run a size or two colder or hotter plug to help with this? What is the proper thinking of the two. I know I have the jet issue but I have already come down significantly and its still rich. Would the plug change help? Should I change my gap? Imat 43 now with MSD....

  6. OK, I was just told by a racing guru here in Angelo that if I cut a piece of screen door screen the size of a Carb gasket and put it in between the carb and intake, silicon it for a proper seal and torque down the carb, it will get better throttle response and AF mixture. This is because the squirters will then not just shoot raw gas straight into your intake but rather hit the screen and fan out more. Has anyone every tried this? Also you woundnt have to worry about dropping anything in the intake thru the carb. Any input or experience. Its sounds reasonable to me....

  7. Itll work! I may go that route later....since Ill probably only race mine and do an ocassional Sonic run. By the way Mike thanks for the hospitality at Cedar Hill. You guys are a class act and I enjoyed the visit. The drive home sucked however...lol. Yeah I forgot to ask about the rotisseri. Oh well dont worry about it as it would be too much trouble to get it now I think. Have a safe move!!!

  8. Thanks for the data. I cant run mine until spring but I did dyno it in Japan, They only show max HP and the torque and RPMS at the max HP. The chart just drops off after that. I actually had 379.4 at the wheels. I have a dyno sheet on my site below. Anyway it showed max HP at 6120 RPMS and 365 TORQUE at 6120 RPMS with 379.4 HP. I am assuming that my max torque was in the 400s for sure at around 4500 or so. I built the same setup thats on the AFR site for the 450 crank HP build. According to that I should have a peak of 470 ish crank HP which would be around 400 or so at the wheels. Im sure it will vary but Im just trying to compare to get an idea. Japan was also sea level. San Angelo is 2200 ft above. Thanks for the info..
