  1. Guys, i was driving my 240 V8 today and the engine started cutting out bad. I checked the fuel pressure and it was only 3...I turned off the car and kept the pump running and checked the rear near the tank. I heard a SSSSSSSSS sound like a tire going flat. I turned off the pump and that was it. Sounds like I have a vapor lock somewhere. I took off the gas cap but no change. Does anyone know how the stock 240 Z's vent system works? Did anyone have this problem before? I am having 1/2 inch pickups put in and replummed next week....any help is appreciated.

  2. If your interested in knowing what my Stock 350 with the 700 R4 and street tires/no converter, Holley 750 VAC , block huggers, mild mild cam ran, it was 13.9's at 98 MPH. I figure only about 260HP or so. I can't wait to get the engine done &*%$#@. I am doing the new 1/2 inch fuel lines and getting the tank replummed for the new lines as well. Up front is almost done. What does amyone think of the new ZZ5 motor from scoggin? 385 HP with quick burn heads.

  3. Guys, I just upgraded my fuel system to the Holley Blue pump. I now run at 7 PSI at idle vice the measley 4PSI from the mechanical pump. I notice now that my carb hiccups when I floor it off the line and when I punch it rolling at 5 MPH or so It jumps but the engine almost dies then comes back. I am pissed and confussed...anyone ever have that problem? Do I need to adjust the bowl levels? I have a Holley 600 vacuum secondary. Any help is appreciated. I am about ready to throw the carb away and get an Edelbrock carb!!!! HELP!!!

  4. I want to thank everyone for their input. Looks like we have a real tight board and I am proud to be a part of it. I spent 12 years in Japan and raced FairLady Z's for quite awhile. You become a part of this Datsun Z thing after so many years. My first one was a 73 Fairlady. Strangly enough my current car is a 73 as well. I will going back to Japan soon and will get the Steering and Dash parts to convert my car back to a Fairlady style when I come back. I was just throwing out questions on rear end setups as I haven't a clue on how to do it. Can anybody give me some places to check where to get the 4 link setup at a reasonable price with a Ford 9 inch???? Also, do you all think a 383 stroker with VORTEX heads is a good deal? I am considering buying a crate motor since mine is over 25 years old and stock. Mikes setup is awesome and I wish I knew as much about it because I like to do things myself but I want to be safe. By the way, I am in Lubbock TX and I don't want to pay $10,000 FOR THE SETUP....ANY IDEAS GUYS???

Thanks again and lets remember, we are a TEAM out here in Z land, no matter what engines we have. This Z thing is a VERY special thing and please lets none of us forget that. This is what sets us apart from all the other cut throat so called clubs out there!

  5. Thanks John, my best trap speed was 98.4 with the 3:90 but into 4th gear. Average around 96 or so. My secondaries aren't opening either...gotta get that fixed. I still have the mechanical fuel pump too. Changing that soon. Thanks for the input. Were going to a 383 stroker motor soon bored 30 over with some good heads...ANYONE have a suggestion on what heads to get. I have DART II heads now...should I keep them/ Also, anybody know what I should run in the 1/4 with the 383 bored 30 over? SPEED? Now stock 13.9 at 98MPH....Awaiting your replys!

  6. Your right about the 1st 60 feet. I have a stock 350 with headers and a Holley 600. It takes me 9.1 secs to 1/8 mile and only another 4.9 to the 1/4....running 13.9. Do you think this will help by changing to the 3.54? It spins off the line and into second gear as well.

    Thanks
