  6. 11.75 to 1 forged pistons, crank and rods, edelbrock 64CC performer rpm heads, comp xtreme solid cam 288, roller rockers holley 750DP 350 tranny with TCI 3500 stall. Same day at the track I was running 11.30 on the motor
  7. Well I finally made it into the 9s 9.882@135.58mph with a 1.434 on a 210 shot of NOS theres more there yet heres a video of the pass http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=DHNMeBd-10M

I should also add the reason behind this post is that I ran too much NOS (210HP) into a SBC (which BTW grumpy had advised me not too in a previous post) anyway I think i lifted the head, overheated the engine, melted the strap of a spark plug and broke of a rocker arm stud all on the same run trying to better my newest personal best ET of 9.88. I'd like to change from a FEL PPO precompressed 1003 head gasket to a multi layer gasket but i'm not sure if i can do this as there's a slight ridge on the heads from the previous gaskets. I'm trying to make the motor strong enough for 250HP NOS runs.

  10. I'm thinking about upgrading my after market head bolts to ARP studs. Can someone tell me what the advantage is to having the "uncut" stud version and if there is really any advantage to having 12 point nuts. thanks Curtis

  12. Hey I have a 350 SBC gm forged crank, eagle rods and forged pistons 350 tranny . I'm setup with a Dual stage Big Shot Nitrous system. I've made one "bad" pass with some issues running a 150210 Shot that was a 10.004 at 135. After solving the issues I went to a 200 of the line switching to 275 Shot while still in 1st gear car hooked awesome BUT the timing system at the track failed and I got no time slip but it felt alot better than a 10.0. So my question is whats the limit of NOS on a motor of this size. I basically want to make a couple of 9 second passes a year and not every weekend. Curtis

It cost me around $4000 I bought pretty much everything brand new except for the housing all top of the line gear strange axles, adjustable stocks, bears rod ends, chrome moly rods, drive shaft etc etc . All custom made roll bars and 2X3 frame rails things worked out really nice I lost alittle seat room (cross frame brace was centered over the old seat belt holes) but for the limited amount of street driving I can live with it. Car feels totally different leaving the line than with the stock rear end. Much more solid feel not to mention much less worries about breakage. Next weekend at the track i'm upping the NOS fingers crossed i'll get a 9.
  14. I upped the NOS to 180 of the line and 250 as soon as it rolled out witnesses stated the front of the car was 2ft of ground and even could see it go higher when the second stage was applied. Unforunately the timing sensor went down on my 9 second? pass so NO TIME SLIP and no NOS left to run again. Dr. Hunt thanks for the shock adjustment tip it really helped Wizard heres your pic
  15. A friend has a completely stock Z (imagine that!) and can't get a ballast resistor at any of the local parts store or dealer can anyone tell me an aftermarket part number where i might get one or if you of another car would be compatiable Thanks
  16. Thanks for the advice ...i forgot I had the shocks on the softest settings damn street car. Front is limited with chain maybe time to try a link tigher.
  17. MAJOR UPDATE .... today I tried by NOS ran 210 shot of NOS it stumbled of the line a bit but I ran a personal best of 10.004 at 135.01 with a 1.433 60 ft. The car has a 9 it it for sure heres a picture of the launch....

    u joint removal

    all i ever did was hold the axle in my left hand and hit the axle on the thickess edge and the u joints will usually pop after 5 or 6 good smacks with a 2 lb hammer.
  19. i'll see if i can find some pics. I already had a hoop in the car that was basically touching the stock wheel wells at the bottom when i installed the 2x3 cross member I put it centered at the bolt hole for the seat belt to maximize room for longer 4 link bars this may have been a mistake as it cut down on seat position. I then welded another piece of behind the 2x3 to weld to the existing roll bar hoop.
  20. Last year i ran a best of 10.93 at 121mph with a 1.58 60 ft but after destroying more half shafts and u joints last summer i installed a 4 link with a Dana 60 28 13.5 ET streets. First day at the track without any adjustments I was running 11.13 at 120 with a 1.55 60 ft. Car leaves very smooth and straight with no tire spin I just need more power to get the 60fts down. Next weekend NOS stay tuned for results
  21. Well after a long winter I was finally able to get my car out of the garage. No driveshaft yet but it was nice to get her rolling all the same. Bears Performance Pro 4 link kit, Dana 60 Strange axles and adjustable coil overs, 2000 Mustang rear disk brakes should be ALOT stronger than stock 30X13.5 ET Streets on 10 inch Weld Drag Lites required slight edge trimming Driveshaft and some interior work and then its drive and adjustment time I CAN'T WAIT!
  22. This was the last time that I will ever break an side axle or side axle U joint in my car... making some changes over the winter I think this will solve the problem fills the wheel well alittle better too...
