  1. Hey just a quick question, i just purchased my 240z 1970, and the differential bushing is bad i was told, and can feel because it jerks when you give it a little jump with the clutch, just wondering if i should go ahead and replace them or wait till i get my r200, which will be several months away. I just didnt know how hard of a job it was and what tools i would need to replace them. thanks for the help peter
  2. Hey, i havent posted very much on this board but i do read it alot, and thought id spread the good news that i finally got my 240z. I bought from a guy in town for $2000 which was a little more than wanted to spend but it is in real good condition. few little things but biggest thing was almost no rust that he or i saw. It has a little in the front wheel well about the size of a small index card or so that im sure wont be hard to cut out and fix, and i looked real good and it wasnt on frame. It also runs real good. Driving a 240 for the first time i finally realized what yall all talk about the fumes, man was i stinking but it handles like a go cart real fun, kinda scary knowing im adding a couple hundred horses to her. Well thanks for all the help, this board is very helpful and i always find something usefull on it, thanks peter
  3. From the way people responded to me running those aluminum rods i have, i have decided to sell them on ebay, and hopefully get enough money to buy some new steel rods, my question is if i run 6in rods which i really want to, will i be able to run the trw pistons i already have, do i just need to check to make sure i have correct deck clearance etc.., if i can not use those rods, i am having trouble finding a 327 piston for use with 6in rods in the say less than 500 dollar range. Any help would be great, but i would sure love it if i could use those dome trw pistons. Also those pistons are i belive .350 dome, if i be able to run those on a stock deck height 4 bolt 9.025 i believe. with a cam lift of around 510 - 530 with 1.5 rockers. Thanks a million for all the comments and opinions.
  4. As far as RPM wise it will have a redline of about 7-7.5 but normal cruising redline will be rare only when heavy racing, i belive the cam i have chosen(for now) is a solid mech. The cams im looking at right now is a comp cam magnum 294s or even maybe the 306s, but prolly the 294s. And this is just a street/strip 3 times a month kinda street car for fun nights a couple times, drivability not concern, but i am going with the aluminum rods, ive spoken with machine shop says they great and i got a real good deal on them, so do you think the KB's will take around 7g rpm with no problem and are they light enough for the rods to prevent stretch!! thanks
  5. sorry, heres a little more info. I looked at the ross racing and srp pistons but can not find either of them for a medium compression 327, all i see is high compression like 12-13:1, and they are all double the price if not more that the keith black hyperneutics. Just wondering what all yall think about there pistons. Thanks so much for the help!! Peter
  6. I am building up a 327 for a future datsun and have posted a couple of other questions. I am currently looking for the right piston to use with my 5.7 aluminum rods. I have many people telling emthere favorites but they are quite pricey, such as ross racing, Arias, and the lower JE srp. I am looking for a durable lightweight piston to use on a completely Naturally aspirated motor. Im looking at keith black, small dome for 327 30over for 10.5:1 on 64cc head, but are they lighter than the trw pistons sitting in my garage, because i was told those are really heavy pistons. Any help will be much appreciated
  7. thanks luigi, i think i am going to use those rods, im having them stretch checked and all that at machine shop as we speak, what type of piston would you recommend, the trw's were just a option i was prolly going to retire those anyway, what is a good light weight piston for a 327 30over with a decent 10.0 - 11.0:1 compression. thanks for the input peter
  8. I am fairly new to this board but have been reading it several times a day recently. heres my question. i am building a 327 to go in a 240z, the engine is 30 over large journal with steel crank, i have a set of manley super-70 aluminum rods with trw full dome pistons that were used but look in really good shape, i have heard mixed reviews about aluminum rods and wondering if i will be able to use them on the street, but it will be a night time weekend driver, and track car. will i have a problem with these rods breaking or anything if i keep the oil cool and all that. They are really beefy and i already have them and want to use them. any help or opinions would be great. also the engine with be reving to around 7,500rpm if that matters. thanks peter
  9. Hey, i think the 327 is a excellent motor for such a lower weight car and even though im still working on completing my project... im in it for the nostalgia and the revs
